Today's Featured Tip
==============================================================

Test your program using actual data

Need some test data to run through a newly created process? Just
use an option on the CPYF command called NBRRCDS. This option will
allow copying of a specified number of records. This is great for
testing a new process or program using actual data.

Overlooked features of the Copy File Command
The copy file command on the iSeries is an often-used and very
powerful command. Many people use this command, but few exploit its
full potential. Site expert Tim Granatir reveals a few traits you
may not be aware of.

Faster CPYF file command
Search400.com member Richard McDermott says when doing a CPYF
command, you can speed up the copy of a keyed file by changing one
parameter. Click over and find out what that parameter is.

Hey! You've got your test file in my production library
Site expert Tim Granatir provides three utilities to eliminate
problems when you have a test system and production system on the
same box.

Take command of your commands
User-defined commands are one of the most under utilized
objects in OS/400. The way they are defined, created and
used is often misunderstood, so programmers stay away from
them. Once they're mastered, however, they become a great
tool to have in your toolbox. Site expert John Kohan
explains these commands and provides a brief example to get
you started using them.
