Speaking of the Tip of the Month contest: Why not submit a tip of your own? Any timesaving tip or trick that makes your life a little easier is sure to help other users -- and you could win a cool prize. This month we're giving away a hand-held color TV. The winner also gets the privilege of being inducted into the Search400.com Hall of Fame.

This Week: In the forums
>> Need help with Client Access
What would you do?
"DavidHay" has Client Access Express R5.1.0 SP SI08389 running on a WIN2000 server, running MS SQL2000. He uses CWBRXD.EXE as a service to accept incoming remote commands to start a DTS job in SQL. The problem is that after a while the CWBRXD service begins to consume more and more CPU. When he tries to stop the service, the stop command times out and he can't force the stop service request. His only option is to shut down SQL (not nice to his users) and reboot his WIN2000 SQL box. How can he fix this?

>> What's causing disabled user profile?
"Manly1" says he constantly gets the following message in QSYSMSG and wonders if anyone knows what is causing the profile to be disabled, as the user says he is not continually trying to enter his password.

Error message: CPF1393 Subsystem QSYSWRK disabled user profile RG03N on device *N.

"3Strikes" thinks he knows what's going on.

>> Converting a stream file to DB2
"Daptech" says, "We are trying to convert a file from a Unix system to DB2. We have FTP'd to a Unix system and successfully retrieved the stream file and stored it in the IFS of our iSeries. The data is EDI transactions in text format. The problem is we can't get the stream file to properly convert to our iSeries database." What should they do? "CLKelly" had an idea.

System resource accounting is important to many shops whose IS budget and cost of iSeries ownership must be allocated to individual users and/or departments. Luckily, the iSeries is set up to provide you with the information to do just that.

WebSphere Strategies Tip: Tap into the power of XML
When it comes to Web development, XML is a powerful tool. But you don't need to be a highly skilled Java XML developer to make use of it. WDSC for iSeries Version 5 (both the Standard and Advanced editions) offers several options to create Web database and XML applications, including a number of helpful wizards.

IT Insights: Time to hold software companies accountable
Why do we hold McDonald's to a higher standard than Microsoft and IBM?
When you buy a new computer system, if the monitor is defective, you can take it back. What do you do when the software is defective? Take it back and get software that works? You can't. Columnist John Brandt says that's just not right. Software companies need to be held accountable and provide what they advertise.
