Well, now the "friendly skies" soon will be the "e-mail friendly skies." United Airlines is rushing to be the first carrier to offer onboard e-mail on all its domestic flights. You'll be able to send as well as receive messages and ping your peops via IM for $15.98. Hopefully, the flight attendants won't ask for exact change. All you have to do (besides pay) is plug your laptop into the jack on the Airfone handset in front of you -- then you can enjoy the sensation of being in a cubicle six miles off the ground. United hopes to get the service off the ground by the end of the year.
