Other useful columns on the Work with Active Jobs screen
The right-hand side of the Work with Active Jobs screen contains some other columns of interest. Here's a brief summary.

Three basic system tools to help you tune your iSeries
The three basic performance management tools -- WRKSYSSTS, WRKDSKSTS and WRKACTJOB -- come with OS/400. Unfortunately, they aren't always put to the best use at the best time.

Use CPU utilization guideline values to monitor high-priority (interactive) jobs
Don't wait until your system slows to a crawl before dealing with performance issues. By monitoring CPU utilization for critical applications, you can get warnings in advance of major problems.

Interactive overload? Take a closer look at your programs
If your applications have sections that use a lot of CPU, make those subroutines separate programs. Then the heavy work can be done in batch via client/server and returned to the program.

News Flash: AS/400 Personnel rescues IT manager from drowning. ...

"I thought that it would be easy to find the right IT professional in the 'Sea of resumes'. I got in way over my head and had given up hope," says one IT manager, "and then I called AS/400 Personnel. They saved me from certain doom!" A spokesman from AS/400 Personnel told this reporter that they save IT managers on a daily basis. "We have the resources and technical skills necessary to swim through the 'Sea of resumes' and find just the right professional for the job. This is what we do for a living," said the spokesman. "It's a treacherous sea, and IT managers shouldn't go it alone." "I am glad I called them," declared the IT manager, looking very relieved. "You will be too!" Call them for permanent professionals or contract consultants, or visit their Web site.
