Accepting nominations for Product of the Year Awards
This coming January, Search400.com will present its first Product
of the Year awards. The awards will highlight and celebrate those
entries in the market that are deemed outstanding examples of new and
innovative technological advancement for users. Publication of the
awards will provide our readers with capsule descriptions of these
outstanding products for the year 2003. We will consider products in
the following categories for selection:
- Performance monitoring/management tools
- Security solutions
- High-availability products
- Web-enabling tools
- Output/printing products
- PC/Windows connectivity tools
- Application development tools
- Business-to-business products
You can participate in the Product of the Year awards by nominating
a product or products for consideration. All you have to do is e-mail
me at [EMAIL PROTECTED],
and I'll send you an entry form. Fill out the form and return it by
the Nov. 5 deadline, and your entry will be considered for
Product of the Year honors.
To be eligible for consideration for the Product of the Year
awards, a product must have been introduced or significantly upgraded
between Sept. 30, 2002, and Oct. 1, 2003. For previously available
products, the upgrade must incorporate major new features, designed to
meet new or evolving needs in the marketplace.
The top three winners in each category will be announced in
January, and the winning products will be included in a feature
article to be published on Search400.com. Plus, you'll receive a
Product of the Year logo that can be used in advertising and
promotional materials. I hope you'll participate.

Client Access batch file transfer
"Fxmulherin" writes, "Does anyone know how to run a Client
Access data file transfer in batch? If the data wasn't
being formatted for Excel (BIFF5), I wouldn't have a problem
-- I would use FTP. I'm unfamiliar with the BIFF5 file
format on the transfer prompt." Fortunately, some
Search400.com members have some advice for him. |

Security Tip
Simplifying individual object restores
A good security policy always includes backups. We tend to think of
these backups as being for recovery of your system from catastrophic
loss. But more frequently they are also used to recover individual
data and other objects that are lost due to a wide variety of reasons,
many of which fall into the security area. Having a method for quick
and easy restore for individual objects is important in the overall
security plans for your iSeries shop.
