A lump of coal for IBM this year?

Whether you believe IBM deserves to be on Santa's "nice" list or "naughty" list depends a lot on whose lap you're sitting.

Here's a list of news headlines. Which of these strategic decisions made by IBM this year qualifies them for the "naughty" list? Which ones for the "nice" list? Let us know if you think IBM should get a stocking full of goodies this year or a lump of coal? Send your "list" to me, Kate Evans-Correia, senior news editor, and take our related poll: In 2004, how well will IBM bring in new iSeries customers?

>> Securing a library from adopting authority
"Benallgood" is trying to secure a library that contains payroll information. He secured the library with an authorization list and set the public authority on both the library and authorization list to *exclude. But when he does a WRKLIB or query on the library from a user profile not in the authorization list, he can still access it. What is he doing wrong? Site expert John Brandt and "edfishel" had some advice.

>> Dial-up FTP
"FTPnovice" needs to send/receive files from an iSeries to a remote server using FTP. The remote site requires a dial-up connection but will not support a PPP line. How can he set up the line and utilize FTP once he has established the dial-up connection without it using the Internet connection instead? Click over if you have any suggestions.
