PROGRAMMER TIP
Converting Julian dates in query
Search400.com member Tiger Moodley regularly has to run queries over files that have Julian dates as fields. According to Tiger, these are often files from JDE. The format would be 99011 or 100350. To convert that to a "readable" format would mean a CL program or an RPG program. The date comes out as 11/01/99 or 15/12/00. Luckily, standard query can do that for you.

EXPERT ADVICE
Why is the green screen disconnecting?
John Brandt, OS/400 advice

Dear John,
We're running a combination of batch and interactive jobs on a 730 machine. Our green-screen connection frequently disconnects, but only for a few seconds. Our network guy is telling us that we have a stable connection. I've been monitoring the system and cannot figure out what's wrong. I'm looking for information to help me determine what I should be looking for or what might be a probable solution.

THE MISSING LINK
You want [EMAIL PROTECTED] with that? Hackers serve unhappy meals

Thanks to hackers, some Burger King customers in Troy, Mich., are having their self-esteem flame grilled. When one customer placed his order at the drive-through, the response was, "You don't need a couple of Whoppers. You are too fat. Pull ahead." Yes, some geeks have hacked their way into the wireless frequency of the BK. This is more than just a denial of service; it's a denial of civility. The perps have told customers that the restaurant has no food and, in some cases, they've served up supersizes of obscenities. BK is trying to change the frequency while Troy police hunt their fast food fugitives.
