"CroomRobot" is looking for someone who has been involved with migrating data from an older iSeries machine to a Windows machine. He's being pressed to find a way to make this happen -- without spending any money. Can you pull the solution out of your hat?

>> How to monitor if a particular program is active
"LenIng" has a batch job that is launched when specified data is available. However, in this job, there is a program that is also used by another job. To avoid conflict, he would like to check if the program in question is active before allowing this batch job to start. Is it possible? "Lrodriguez" recommends he try to allocate the program object before using it, and he provides code to do so.

>> V5R2 upgrade and QZDASOINIT job logs
"NamoGuy" writes, "We have just upgraded to V5R2. Now my WRKSPLF with defaults show hundreds of QZDASOINIT job logs in QEZJOBLOG folder. They all have the same messages in them." Site expert John Brandt knows just what the problem is.

Using WRKSYSSTS to tune your system

Once you understand how to assess performance, basic tuning of your system is relatively straightforward. There are two ways to tune your system on the WRKSYSSTS display. You can adjust pool size to reduce page faults, or you can adjust activity levels to minimize wait-to-ineligible and active-to-ineligible transitions. Using those methods, follow these five tuning steps to bring your system in line.
