LEAD STORY
Oracle database to run on iSeries  (iSeries Network)
For years, OS/400 has been overlooked by Oracle -- mainly because it comes bundled with DB2. But after years of balking about porting its database to the AS/400, the company has launched a developer's release of Oracle 9.2.04 for IBM's PowerPC chip that runs on SuSE Linux on the iSeries or pSeries. SECURITY TIP
Time to review your *PUBLIC authority setups
OS/400's robust security architecture lets you specify security authorization at a variety of levels -- from the individual profile level to the group profile level and even supplemental group profile level. If, however, your system has default setups for *PUBLIC authority that are too broad in nature, all the little details at the other levels could easily be frustrated. According to security guru Rich Loeber, it is important to understand how your *PUBLIC authorities are set and to review them periodically.

THE MISSING LINK
Show's reject finds fame, thanks to Net

He can't sing. He can't dance. He's not going to be modeling for Abercrombie & Fitch anytime soon. William Hung should be an unsung average Joe. So why is he such a hit? The guy who stank up the stage of American Idol with his version of Ricky Martin's "She Bangs" has failed his way to fame -- thanks in large part to the Internet. His losing song-and-dance act from the show made the rounds in cyberspace, and now Hung has record producers knocking on his door and fans setting up Web sites dedicated to him. People who sing Hung's praises say they like his honest, down-to-earth style.
