Rumors point to V5R3 release

Timothy Prickett Morgan has his ear to the ground, and this is what 's rumbling: IBM will be announcing the new implementation of its WebSphere Web application server on April 20. OS/400 V5R3 is coming out before the end of April. Big Blue could be announcing the hypervisor for the Power5 machines. IBM will actually prebundle Linux on the new Squadron boxes. And, hold onto your seats, the iSeries may get a new name.

IBM brings BPEL Web services to iSeries in Q3

IBM's Software Group is bringing Web services and Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) execution to its iSeries and zSeries servers. IBM committed to deploying WBISF 5.1 on z/OS during the second quarter of the year, and on OS/400 during the third quarter. The product is already supported on Linux running on those two server platforms.
