 From the Editor:

by Debra Tart, assistant editor

If the old saying "two heads are better than one" is true, just think how much we can learn and accomplish if we all work together. When it comes to working with the iSeries, many of you have shortcuts or cheat sheets that you use religiously to help you with your routine tasks. I'd like to compile some of these cheat sheets and publish an online guide for all of our iSeries users to use.

We're looking for anything that helps make your day run a little smoother. Please e-mail me your cheat sheet with a brief description of what the sheet consists of and how it saves you time. Here's one of our own to get you started: Common iSeries commands

The first 10 Search400.com members to send me their cheat sheets will be awarded a Search400.com hat.

This Week: In the forums
>> Working with QRCVDTAQ
"DCHughes" needed to review a DTAQ to check if an entry already existed, but he didn't want to process the records when he did the QRCVDTAQ. He turned to Search400.com's Programmer Discussion Forum for advice. Thankfully, site expert John Brandt was on hand to walk him through the process -- and to provide him with sample code.

>> Removing LPARs
"BAdams" recently took over a new position and inherited an 820 with five partitions -- three of them Linux. Unfortunately, the Linux LPARs have not been used at all and no one knows the passwords. He wondered how to go about removing the Linux LPARs. "Skitch210" knew just what to do to remove them.

>> Adding a new disk to ASP1
"Ramonu" needs to add a new disk to ASP1 and balance it. Is there a particular procedure he should follow? He's using V4R5.
