Users speak out on lack of iSeries apps
[Search400.com]
Users are fed up with the pathetic lack of apps for the iSeries. Some blame IBM. Others say the system is simply too much of a machine for the average ISV to get a grip on.

Have you ever had the need to synchronize real-time data from a Microsoft SQL, Oracle, Sybase or other ODBC compliant database? If you ask someone how to do it, the answers you usually get are that you need to do it from the PC side, because the iSeries can't do it. Yes it can. Find out how:

ISVs reign over iSeries RFID niche
[iSeries Network]
According to a recent IDC report, IBM is one of the top vendors in the emerging RFID space. However, the news has yet to reach the iSeries ISVs who continue to find that midrange niche very lucrative. (Free registration to this site required.)

HIPAA restraints choke IT spending
[eWEEK]
The drain of institutional resources away from commercial IT solutions toward training and staff to ensure compliance with HIPAA (the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) is largely to blame for the waning health IT market.

The Missing Link

Sharp 'waists' no time, leans on microwave to zap fat
[Reuters]
Finally -- some technology we can use! Sharp Corp. has made a microwave that burns fat right off the meat. Too bad they can't make a treadmill that does the same thing. The temperature in the oven gets so hot (572 degrees Fahrenheit) that fat, oil and salt don't stand a chance. In other words, if you put a pork rind in there, it will probably vanish before you could say Dr. Atkins. The ovens should go on sale this fall. No word if a microwave carb killer is in the works.
