How to save time using the CPYTOPCD and CPYFRMPCD commands
[Search400.com]
by Ron Turull
The Copy To PC Document (CPYTOPCD) and the Copy From PC Document (CPYFRMPCD) commands are real time-savers for copying iSeries physical file members to and from PC text files (i.e., PC documents). Deleted Files. It's happened to us all, either deleted by accident, by a virus, or by a disgruntled employee. Wouldn't it be nice if these files could be restored as easily as they were deleted, without having to turn to time-consuming and costly backups? Now they can. With StandGuard Recycle Bin, the new Windows-style file protection utility designed specifically for the iSeries, you can bring back lost files from all of your mapped drives with just a few clicks of your mouse.

CPYTOPCD command limitation size
[Search400.com]
A user asks, "When using the CPYTOPCD command, is there some type of limitation on file size? I am copying a comma-delimited file as a .csv file and e-mailing it to a user using the SNDDST command." Search400.com expert Shahar Mor advises.
Maintaining the member name during transfers
[Search400.com]
A user needed to transfer many members (text data) of unique names from his iSeries 270 to his PC using the .DTF file transfer technique -- maintaining the member name. What should he do? Search400.com expert Glen Bunnell suggests taking advantage of the IFS using the CPYTOPCD command.

IBM's enhancements to AFPDS printing capabilities through Client Access have made creating overlays a snap. These overlays can then be used from within iSeries printer files in order to replace forms. The overlays can be created from any PC application software that can print . A simple three-step process is all that it takes.
