The Missing Link

Text voting banned in reality TV show
[Reuters]
Future American Idols beware -- if a trend from Saudi Arabia rides the tide across the Atlantic, there could be a distinct lack of bare midriffs or lurid lyrics on display for the new season. Turns out the Saudi's main mobile phone operator blocked 9.5 million users from using cell phones to text message their vote into Star Academy 2 because market research showed the content did not match the values of Saudi culture. Depending on who's in charge of American airwaves this winter, a similar event in the U.S. could mean nothing but gospel hymns and Simon Cowell turtlenecks for America's next big pop star.
