Re: [AI] Job Vacancy at BarrierBreak - Mumbai
Hello, As far as I know, mostly within corporate sector, selary details would not be mentioned in the advertisement and usually be discussed during HR discussion that will happen post selection of technical round etc., No one would be forced to work on a particular salary. Candidate has every opportunity to accept or decline the offer. As far as BarrierBreak is concerned, I have worked with them and I know for sure a qualitative training will be provided during first few months. I believe a good negotiation will happen for proven expertise candidate. [AI] Being Born Blind Didn't Stop This Delhi Man From Becoming A Photographer A new point of view.
great to read about Pranav's photography skills in Huffingtonpost today! Being Born Blind Didn't Stop This Delhi Man From Becoming A Photographer A new point of view. Meet Pranav Lal, a Delhi based cybersecurity expert who likes programming, reading books, travel and photography. He was also born blind. Yet, his visual impairment hasn't stopped Lal from pursuing his passion for photography, pushing his sensory and creative boundaries in the process. Lal can distinguish between light and darkness, and he relies on a technology called vOICe that works like an artificial eye to help visually impaired people with navigation. Lal uses vOICe to help him take photos. The vOICe software converts images taken by a camera into sounds by panning them from left to right, and maps the elevation of an object through the pitch and its brightness through loudness. Lal listens to these sounds through his headphones, and then uses a second camera to click photos. "The beauty of the technology is that you can remotely sense shapes and compose your own shots," he told *HuffPost India*. "Otherwise, say, if I want to photograph a tree, but it doesn't make a sound, I won't get that perspective. This allows me to get the foreground and background." Lal uses vOICe for everything from navigation to designing web pages. He took up photography in 2001, when he came across the Seeing with Sound initiative, which works on vOICe. He taught himself how to use the new technology remotely, by communicating with other international users on an online mailing group. He has been honing his skills over the last 15 years, and says he especially enjoys taking pictures while travelling and on festivals such as Diwali. Since vOICe cannot recognise facial features yet, Lal focuses on landscapes, especially nature, buildings, and machinery. "I have been born with this. I have adapted extremely well. I had an augmented sense and I wanted to showcase it visually," Lal explained. "How do I show you what I see? Through photography. This technology gives me the ability to see." A new video produced by the online portal *101 India* narrates Lal's inspiring story and explains the technology he uses. "Blindness is a state of mind more than a sensory impairment," he says in the video. "People who have the biological ability of sight but still don't see could still be called blind." http://www.huffingtonpost.in/2016/10/17/this-photographer-was-born-blind/ -- Warm regards, Subhash Chandra Vashishth Mobile: +91 (11) 9811125521 Please don't print this e-mail unless you really need to. Re: [AI] Problem in opening salary for VI employee with HDFC bank
Hi Shekhar, I also faced similar issue before with HDFC. But 2 statements made HDFC to accept my request for account opening. I told that manager similar to the one below. "now that you have seen the circular from RBI and still you are not ready to fulfill what I needed, I am fine with it. How about I take legal action against your ignorance?" Soon after this, she kept quiet and agreed to issue me all banking facilities. After 5 minutes, i received the banking kit. [AI] Abhinav Singh reports for the Statesman: Delhi University: Visually Impaired teacher seeks normal life partner
A visually impaired teacher of Delhi University has expressed his disillusionment at being unable to marry a physically 'normal' woman because of societal constraints. http://www.thestatesman.com/news/delhi/visually-impaired-teacher-seeks-normal-life-partner/169088.html He said marriage between disabled and normal persons is an 'effective' way to incorporate the differently abled into the mainstream and end discrimination. Yogesh Chaurasia, 42, an assistant professor of political science at DU's Maitreyi College is still unmarried as he has turned down several proposals of marrying differently abled girls in his quest to get a physically normal life partner. "If I marry, I will marry a normal girl," he stressed. Chaurasia said society acts with an 'orthodoxical' and 'prejudiced' mindset as it easily gives sanction to matrimonial ties between two normal persons but looks down upon marriage of a normal person with a disabled one. "I had vehemently refused to accept several proposals of marriage with physically disabled or visually impaired girls. I turned down many such proposals in the past and I am really annoyed at and bewildered by those who approach me with such proposals," said Yogesh. He said he has no reservations in marrying a physically disabled girl but wants to set an example that physical disability cannot be the cause of 'rejection' and 'neglect' of a person. He said there is no support from his family members either who also cannot think 'out of box', "Even my parents are of the view that I should marry a disabled girl, but it's my personal view that marriages between differently abled and normal persons will help in bringing Divyangs into mainstream of society," said Chaurasia. "Physically disabled persons are also human beings and have desires similar to those of normal persons. Sometimes I have a strong urge to have a life partner but I have diverted all my energy into academics," said Yogesh. He said many 'normal' men pretend to be blind only to have girls sympathising with them. "Many normal persons pretend to be blind in metros , buses and public places and only look for opportunity to inappropriately touch or feel young girls who come to their aid out of sympathy, this has maligned the image of blind people and girls now look at all blind persons suspiciously”, he said. Sympathy, no love "Most people help us out of sympathy but there is no element of love in it. Sympathy cannot be misunderstood for love," said the professor. "By sympathising with us you make us feel that as if we are some helpless creatures but we want to tell that we are also human beings who are desirous of love and not sympathy," said Yogesh. Another teacher said society should shun its prejudices and ould encourage those who want to marry 'out of box'. "In my view marriage between a disabled and normal person should be encouraged, as it will help in bringing them into mainstream and increase their acceptability," said DU teacher. -- Avinash Shahi Doctoral student at Centre for Law and Governance JNU Register at the dedicated AccessIndia list for discussing accessibility of mobile phones / Tabs on: http://mail.accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/mobile.accessindia_accessindia.org.in Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe.
