[all-audio] problems solved, explanation inside
Hi List, Thanks to all who have written and made suggestions. The answer had nothing to do with what I was writing. It seems that the keys for left and right bracket were not labeled as to their function. So my sighted techie frien went into the options menue, and to the keyboard menue and labeled the bracket keys to say start and finish markers. Now the program seemes normally. I can’t tell you what a relief this is-but I’m sure you understand. Thanks again. Vinny -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group. Re: I am stumppedRe: [all-audio] Fw: Another Goldwave Question
Hi Colin, I tried doing what you said, but can't get the cursor positions to change, no matter what I do. Let me ask a couple of questions. 1, . What does control G do?2, What and were is the play tab? and 3, I don't understand the zoom in and out selections in the view menue. Depending were you are, and how much time you have, maybe we can get together on zoom or by phone if you are in Canada or the U.S. It's funny, I have been using gw since at least 2009, and have been very successful with it until now. Thanks for your suggestions. I'll keep trying different things. Vinny-Original Message- From: Colin Howard Sent: Wednesday, February 10, 2021 2:12 AM To: all-audio@groups.io Subject: Re: I am stumppedRe: [all-audio] Fw: Another Goldwave Question Greetings, OK, this is how I would do it but at present still using V5.70. 1. Start playing file. 2. Do Ctrl with g and enter the new cursor position, press enter, you are now at the position entered so pause file and press left bracket placing start marker at cursor position, if you want to start at the beginning, your start marker is already at 0.00, when you start playing the file, so do the cursor thing for the finish marker which is right bracket. 3. Make sure you have in the play tab the 0.00 edit field set to in my case 0.15, which means whenever I move the cursor or marker, I hear 15 hundredths of any sound, so now you have your cursor at the end of the sound, adjust the marker bacvk/forward to ensure you encompas the whole required deletion, play the end to ensure. 4. Press delete key, job done. If you need delete partway through a file, use the above to set start and end markers, adjusting markers using a very small zoom setting I have mine set to one second, also have play2 set to play selection and play3 set to play view, in my case mostly one second, On Tue, 9 Feb 2021 18:07:56 -0700, amongst other things, "vinny Samarco" wrote: Hi, Yes, I said the wrong thing, I am using the left and right bracket keys. [all-audio] Fw: Another Goldwave Question
From: Vinny Samarco Sent: Tuesday, February 09, 2021 8:45 AM To: allau...@groups.io Subject: Another Goldwave Question Hi list, Ever since I totally updated goldwave from the old 5.8 to the 6.* I have had editing issues. These days, I don’t know if the cause is Gw, NVDA or my lack of knowledge. I am trying to edit a long mp3 file. I first select all in the file with control A. Then I set up my navigating time to move the arrows either ten minutes or one hour. When I get to the middle of the file I press the start marker, which says 0.00 Etc. then, I move the right arrow to the end of the needed editing section and press finish marker. Then I press delete. This deletes the entire file, rather than the edited section, so I have to use undo, to get the file back. Isn’t there a way to track the cursor location so that wherever I press the start marker to edit, I shouldn’t hear 0.00? I’m sure I am doing something wrong, but I don’t know what. Thanks for any help and suggestions. Vinny Samarco -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group. Hi, I am looking for the key command that allows you to switch from one file or folder to another in gw, I thought it was F6 or control f6, but these didn't work.
