[Alsa-user] equalizer for ALSA?

2009-06-22 Thread Malte Gell
Hi there!

Is there some equalizer application for ALSA? I'm not talking about mixers,
like amixer, kamixer and such, but a real qualizer to adjust frequencies.

I know VLC media player has a builtin equalizer, but it would be nice to have
a standalone equalizer to adjust sound generally.

Thanx
Malte

Re: [Alsa-user] USB Mic of Quickcam Fusion records annoying tick tick sound

2009-06-22 Thread vatbier

I got an answer at
http://forums.quickcamteam.net/showthread.php?tid=855pid=3271#pid3271 :
Yes, someone was indeed looking at porting the code but it seems he abandoned
the project. So, it looks like for these older cameras people are stuck with
the click problem. With our newer cameras this has been fixed, however.

Now the question for me is whether I want to spend 85 euros on a new Logitech
webcam...

[Alsa-user] Known C-Media 8738 issues?

2009-06-22 Thread Malte Gell
Hi there,

when I use Skype 2.0.0.72 on Linux I get an error:

RtApiAlsa: callback thread error (RtApiAlsa: audio write error for device (C-
Media CMI8738 (hw:CMI8738,0)): unknown error 405.) ... closing stream.

I did not have problems before when I use my good old Soundblaster Live! and
so I wonder, are there any known issues with the CMedia 8738 chip?

Do you think I could get rid of this Skype issue when I upgrade to a CMedia
8768 chip?

Malte

I tested the 8768 for another poster regarding skype. It worked for me with
Suse 11.1 64bit OS.. The card is a Diamond XS71. About $30.
I run multiple copies of this card in the box for other software. It seems to
be very compatible with linux software.

Unknown error isn't quite helpful.

Nothing comes to mind.

That's exactly the the same hardware interface (and driver), so I'd
guess you'd get the same error.

Best regards,

Ok, same driver, but different chip, isn't it?

[Alsa-user] Trouble with microphone

2009-06-22 Thread murrah boswell
Hello All,

I am a newbee to linux audio and ALSA and am trying to get a headset microphone
working. The audio works fine!

Here is some results from testing that someone else did on another site for
their system.

In each case above, the file test.wav is 44 bytes

but,

arecord -f dat -D hw:0,3 -d 20 test.wav

the file test.wav is 3840044 bytes but has no sound when I play it back.

I have no idea how to use alsamixer, so I do not know if there is a problem
there or what.

I downloaded a script called alsa-info.sh and ran it. It gave extensive
information about my system, but I could not understand most
of what it output and how to identify my problem from the information.

ALSA is capable of using LADSPA plugins; there is an equalizer among
LADSPA plugins.

  Sergei.

¿Can anyone help me?

Something strange is that the System beep, sounds at the speakers, so
the *can* work in linux.
I assume this is a configuration issue.

Could anyone please help me?
