Re: [Blind-Computing] re-post of question about jaws 12
Besides, if you try to install incorrect version of JAWS for a given flavor of the operating system your installation would refuse the process so 64-bit of JAWS wouldn't go on 32-bit OS and vice versa. Re: [Blind-Computing] re-post of question about jaws 12
thank you rick, that's exactly what I needed. I had no idea that the version of windows os determined which version of jaws, 32 or 64 bit, was needed, so I asked. thank you very much -Original Message- From: Rick Justice Sent: Sunday, January 27, 2013 6:33 AM To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] re-post of question about jaws 12 Hi Tom, You didn't say which version of Windows you are using, but, if it is XP, then you have a 32-bit system, and with Windows Vista or 7, it could be either one. Which version you install will be determined by your system. If your system is 32-bit, then that is the version of Jaws you will need to install. Likewise with a 64-bit system. An easy way to determine the type of system you have is to do the following: 1. Press the Windows key + The Pause key, to open the system properties dialogue. The pause key is usually located near the top of the keyboardnext to the scroll lock key,but this will vary from keyboard to keyboard, especially with laptops. If you are not sure where the Pause key is, then turn your Jaws keyboard help on, with Insert + 1, on the number row, so Jaws will echo the keys as you press them. This is a toggle, so when you are finished, use the same keystroke to turn it off. 2. Route Jaws to Pc, and then arrow down to find the relevant information. Once you have what you need, press escape, or Alt F4 to close the properties dialogue.
