Re: [cisco-voip] cisco hdmi to dvi cable - audio from HDMI?

2018-12-07 Thread Lelio Fulgenzi
Well, it's not perfect, but it works. I'm guessing my host PC is not up to
snuff to make it as good as it could be though.

Basically:

Host Laptop : HDMI Out > HDMI In : HDMI-to-USB : USB > USB : Host Laptop

Then on the Host laptop select the video and mic input to be the HDMI-to-USB
adapter.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

Having trouble making it work with an HDMI splitter though - not sure if that's
because the panel that was attached doesn't have speakers. Will try again with
an actual TV and see if I can get that working.

Just coming full circle here. The cable does not take audio from HDMI, you need
to plug in audio cable. Good news is, the audio cable works fine plugged into a
"headset" port on the laptop (you're asked what you've just plugged in) and it
also works with a USB-to-audio adapter too.

The thing that doesn't work so well (as suspected) is sharing video in the
content stream. Too bad there isn't something built-in that will kick up the
content stream to high bandwidth. I can imagine this being a common request
from people doing presentations - "Just a moment while I share this video the
team has been working on..." especially for videos from the internet.

Will need to examine how much effort it is to build the macro Ryan suggested to
flip the content/video channels.

Thanks everyone!

P.S. Has anyone else noticed their SX20 slowing down a bit after upgrade from
TC to CE software? Very sluggish controls. Yuck.

Does anyone know if the CAB-DVI-HDMI-8M+= cable will take audio directly from
the HDMI source and pump it to the audio cable in the DVI end? Or whether both
1/8" jacks need to be plugged in to feed audio to the far end?

https://www.cdw.ca/product/cisco-video-audio-cable-hdmi-dvi-8-m/4486020#PO

We have a C60 and two SX20s that only have DVI in with a spare mic input. Of
course, laptops nowadays have HDMI. Not too many have the audio out. Or close
enough for that little pigtail.

Pete,

Have you given any consideration to open sourcing the UCOS password decoder?

Re: [cisco-voip] Recovering UCOS Passwords - Round 281

2018-12-07 Thread Pete Brown
Sure enough, this round goes to our friends in Boxborough. They're using the
same algorithm as before, but now they're also encrypting the passphrase with
RSA. Unless the RSA private key fairy brings me something for Christmas, this
route will be closed with updates. That truly would be a gift that keeps on
giving! 

For labs, there may be a workaround. Try booting the UC host to a Linux CD and
overwriting the following file with an older copy. Then it should spit out a
traditional passphrase when you create the remote account.

/usr/local/platform/bin/remotesupport_createaccount

Would probably be easiest to pull it from the RPM on an ISO. This is the path
on a 12.0.1.1-10 disk.

\Cisco\ucplatform\RPMS\platform-remotesupport-2.0.0.1-3.i386.rpm

Interesting! Any documentation on that? I checked out the release notes for
those versions and didn't come across anything pertaining to the remote support
passphrase decode version. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't
put this specific one in the notes.

If anyone comes across this, please let me know. If it's just an algorithm
change, I imagine it would be Decode Version 4.

Whatever method you are using to decode the passphrase will be obsolete in
versions 10.5(2)su7, 11.5(1)su4 and 12.0(1)su2 (and above) as they are using a
new method to decode the passphrase.

I'm testing a new version of the UCOS Password Decrypter that acquires the file
for you. To use this feature, you enable remote support on your UCOS host then
plug in the UCOS host IP, remote support user and remote support passphrase.
The app decodes the passphrase, pulls the file via SSH and displays the
passwords.

Need a few volunteers to test before I update the tools page. If you're
interested, let me know. Would post a temp link here but I don't want yet
another dead link floating around.
