Bug#308788: apache2-common: userdir doesn't work for ldap based entries ?
From looking at the source, apache (2.2.x) should do the right thing. I don't have LDAP to test ist, do you still encounter this problem with 2.2.x? Cheers, Stefan

Bug#400918: apache2 reload produces error
https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=37680 is now fixed, but the error message "Bad file descriptor: apr_socket_accept: (client socket)" still occurs in 2.2.6. There is another upstream bug report that is maybe related to this error message: http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=42829 But I am not sure the error message has anything to do with your problem of apache hanging after reload (which I cannot reproduce). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) --- Begin Message --- Package: apache2.2-common Version: 2.2.4-3 Severity: normal As php5 requires me to upgrade to apache2, I've noticed a few possible regressions in the default config file. I believe, apache 1.3 had a DirectoryIndex line that included index.htm, not just index.html also, there's no section in apache2.conf, so for instance .cgi's aren't added to the cgi-script handler. I'm able to fix these all myself, but they seem to be regressions from 1.3 that will make life harder on users that have to upgrade and port their configurations -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (650, 'testing'), (600, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-4-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages apache2.2-common depends on: ii apache2-utils 2.2.4-3 utility programs for webservers ii libapr1 1.2.7-8.2The Apache Portable Runtime Librar ii libaprutil1 1.2.7+dfsg-2+b1 The Apache Portable Runtime Utilit ii libc6 2.6.1-1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libdb4.44.4.20-8 Berkeley v4.4 Database Libraries [ ii libexpat1 1.95.8-4 XML parsing C library - runtime li ii libldap22.1.30-13.4 OpenLDAP libraries ii libmagic1 4.21-2 File type determination library us ii libpcre36.7-1Perl 5 Compatible Regular Expressi ii libpq5 8.2.4-2 PostgreSQL C client library ii libsqlite3-03.4.1-1 SQLite 3 shared library ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8e-6 SSL shared libraries ii libuuid11.40.2-1 universally unique id library ii lsb-base3.1-24 Linux Standard Base 3.1 init scrip ii mime-support3.39-1 MIME files 'mime.types' & 'mailcap ii net-tools 1.60-17 The NET-3 networking toolkit ii procps 1:3.2.7-4/proc file system utilities ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-5 compression library - runtime apache2.2-common recommends no packages. -- no debconf information --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: apache2 Source-Version: 2.2.6-1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of apache2, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: apache2-dbg_2.2.6-1_i386.deb to pool/main/a/apache2/apache2-dbg_2.2.6-1_i386.deb apache2-doc_2.2.6-1_all.deb to pool/main/a/apache2/apache2-doc_2.2.6-1_all.deb apache2-mpm-event_2.2.6-1_i386.deb to pool/main/a/apache2/apache2-mpm-event_2.2.6-1_i386.deb apache2-mpm-perchild_2.2.6-1_all.deb to pool/main/a/apache2/apache2-mpm-perchild_2.2.6-1_all.deb apache2-mpm-prefork_2.2.6-1_i386.deb to pool/main/a/apache2/apache2-mpm-prefork_2.2.6-1_i386.deb apache2-mpm-worker_2.2.6-1_i386.deb to pool/main/a/apache2/apache2-mpm-worker_2.2.6-1_i386.deb apache2-prefork-dev_2.2.6-1_i386.deb to pool/main/a/apache2/apache2-prefork-dev_2.2.6-1_i386.deb apache2-src_2.2.6-1_all.deb to pool/main/a/apache2/apache2-src_2.2.6-1_all.deb apache2-threaded-dev_2.2.6-1_i386.deb to pool/main/a/apache2/apache2-threaded-dev_2.2.6-1_i386.deb apache2-utils_2.2.6-1_i386.deb to pool/main/a/apache2/apache2-utils_2.2.6-1_i386.deb apache2.2-common_2.2.6-1_i386.deb to pool/main/a/apache2/apache2.2-common_2.2.6-1_i386.deb apache2_2.2.6-1.diff.gz to pool/main/a/apache2/apache2_2.2.6-1.diff.gz apache2_2.2.6-1.dsc to pool/main/a/apache2/apache2_2.2.6-1.dsc apache2_2.2.6-1_all.deb to pool/main/a/apache2/apache2_2.2.6-1_all.deb apache2_2.2.6.orig.tar.gz to pool/main/a/apache2/apache2_2.2.6.orig.tar.gz A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached.
