Ok, my testing was flawed, I missed downgrading libapt*.deb, so my
initial suspicion was right, and with those now it stops failing with
«src:apt=0.9.12.1». I'd recommend anyone with up-to-date apt versions
on kfreebsd-* to downgrade and put these packages on hold.

fatal error: Typelib file for namespace 'GnomeBluetoothApplet' (any version) not found

2013-12-25 Thread Robert Millan
Package: gnome-shell-common
Version: 3.8.4-5
Severity: grave

gnome-shell aborts on GNU/kFreeBSD because of Linux-specific settings
in config.js:

/usr/share/gnome-shell/js/misc/config.js:const HAVE_BLUETOOTH = 1;
/usr/share/gnome-shell/js/misc/config.js:const HAVE_NETWORKMANAGER = 1;

The cause of this problem is that, although config.js is correcly built
without these options, the binary-all version of this file is used, since
it is obtained from gnome-shell-common rather than gnome-shell.

I recommend moving it to gnome-shell as the easiest solution.

I was using a chroot and the unstable 9.2 kernel. I can try a
non-chroot build if that may be somehow helpful?

Best wishes,
Mike

 .
   * Drop freebsd-geom transitional package.
   * Fetch source code securely (https) in get-orig-source.
   * Split udeb build from normal build, using a separate objdir by means
of MAKEOBJDIRPREFIX. This allows us to:
 - Optimize udeb build for size (-Os).
 - Build udeb with -DWITHOUT_IPX_SUPPORT (for ifconfig).
 - Restrict -DWITHOUT_JAIL only to udeb build. This effectively brings
   back jail support to ifconfig.
 - As a side requirement, source code is moved to src/ directory to
prevent dh_install from mistakenly installing source directories as
   if they were executable files.
   * Leave -lbsdxml untouched (latest freebsd-glue supports it).
   * netstat_numeric_default.diff: Honor -n flag when listing the default
route (for compatibility with Linux route(8)).
   * route_list.diff: When route is invoked with no arguments, fallback
to "netstat -r" to list existing routes (for compatibility with
 Linux route(8)).

Re: freebsd-libs transition

2013-12-25 Thread Robert Millan

Any thoughts about this? The new release is getting closer (10.0-RC3 is already
overdue by a few days).

Package: grub, apt, dpkg
debian_version: jessie/sid

Hi!

Today I tried to upgrade Debian GNU/kfreebsd to the latest packages.
After running a while the upgrade process stopped with errors "E:
Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)".
Starting "apt-get upgrade" again only lead to the same error.
Since the packages where downloaded I tried to update them manualy:
cd /var/cache/apt/archive
dpkg -i

This time a lot of packages where unpacked, but again the very same
error "E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)" after
apt-get trying to configure unpacked and installed packages.

doing "dpgk --configure -a" seemed to solve the error. A following
apt-get ran until the next configure part. Again the same error: "E:
Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)".

At one point grub was upgraded. Some messages about passthru-drivers
not found or device da0s1 not being available hushed by. After an
additional "dpkg --configure -a" and further upgrades all seemed to be
OK.

"update-grub" did not give back any errors.

After rebooting a bunch of messages about /proc and others not being
found, missing files and such, the system booted to the prompt, but it
is impossible to login.

Looks like apt-get, dpkg and some helper scripts are badly broken now.
