Bug#725161: libqt5qml-quickcontrols: ApplicationWindow: module "QtQuick.Layouts" is not installed

2013-10-01 Thread Drew Parsons
Package: libqt5qml-quickcontrols
Version: 5.1.1-1
Severity: normal

Quick.Controls contains ApplicationWindow.

But when trying to use it, an error appears:

file:///usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/qml/QtQuick/Controls/ApplicationWindow.qml:44:1:
module "QtQuick.Layouts" is not installed
 import QtQuick.Layouts 1.0

Indeed, under /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/qml/QtQuick there really
is no Layouts subfolder.

ApplicationWindow.qml invokes it with "import QtQuick.Layouts 1.0"

You can test it by replacing the Rectangle{ } in main.qml from the
default Qt Quick 2 project with

import QtQuick.Controls 1.0
ApplicationWindow {
id: window
}

Looks like qt5/qml/QtQuick/Layouts might have been missed while
splitting the monolithic source into modules.

Bug#721947: ITA: unetbootin -- Installer of Linux/BSD distributions

2013-10-01 Thread Geza Kovacs
Hi, I'm the upstream maintainer of UNetbootin. Karim hasn't made any
progress on this for the past month; I contacted him several weeks ago, and
more recently two weeks ago, but no indication of progress in either
instance. Maintainence of this package is extremely easy; I even have an
updated git repository (don't have push access to collab-maint) with the
packaging for the latest version at
https://github.com/unetbootin/unetbootin-debian which is just a
git-import-orig and a few lintian/standards-version fixes relative to the
current packaging]. Could maintainence be given to me or someone else [I'd
be able to upload a package to mentors.debian.net but don't have upload
privs myself]? Thanks! Sorry for the impatience, I just want to be sure the
latest version is uploaded to Debian in time for the Ubuntu freeze window.

I am working on an upload. In the meantime, fixing the version number so
that it appears as opened in squeeze and wheezy and closed in sid (and
not the reverse).

Bug#725157: man-db: /etc/mailcap of man page

2013-10-01 Thread Kevin Ryde
Package: man-db
Version: 2.6.5-2
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

This is an idea for /etc/mailcap entries to run "man" on man pages.
It allows for example

see /usr/share/man/man1/man.1.gz

to display with man in either X or a tty, and also non-interactive like
the following (though groff-base trumps this just yet ...)

run-mailcap --action=cat /usr/share/man/man1/man.1.gz

The debian/man-db.mime file below can be taken by dh_installmime to
install as /usr/lib/mime/packages/man-db.

/usr/lib/mime/packages/groff-base has a "copiousoutput" entry at
priority=5 which is above what I propose here for man non-interactive,
which means for now the groff bit has precedence in the --action=cat
above.

I think the groff should be lower, but that will be a matter of groff
and man-db cooperating. The priority levels apply before the output
style is considered, so usually any copiousoutput should be below any
interactive viewing.

# priority=6 above the default 5 on the basis that viewing a man page
# with man is above average sensible.
#
# Priority above /usr/lib/mime/packages/groff-base "nroff -mandoc"
# since "man" has the advantage of running preprocessors such as tbl
# specified in the man page and so gives better results. Eg on
# /usr/share/man/man1/gtbl.1.gz (the tbl man page uses tbl). Locale
# charset handling in man is probably better too.
#
# "man -X" is only priority=6 since the gxditview it runs is rather
# basic and perhaps something more sophisticated could be higher. The
# X entry is before the tty so the X is preferred under X. (The tty
# one still works there, in its declared needsterminal.)
#
# "-X100" seems to make better output than the default -X 75 dpi.
# Dunno if that's some font dodginess or matching the X server's
# advertised screen size resolution or something.
#
# "test -e gxditview" because it's in the "groff" package which is
# only a Suggests of man-db and so may not be available.

application/x-troff-man; /usr/bin/man -X100 -l '%s'; test=test -n "$DISPLAY" -a
-e /usr/bin/gxditview; description=Man page; priority=6
application/x-troff-man; /usr/bin/man -l '%s'; needsterminal; description=Man
page; priority=6

# "-Tascii" gives backspace overstriking, so use "col -b" to undo
# that. Piping to col also means "man" has a non-tty output and so
# does not run its usual "more" etc pager, ensuring this entry is
# non-interactive.
#
application/x-troff-man; /usr/bin/man -Tascii -l '%s' | col -b; copiousoutput;
description=Man page; priority=2

Bug#725156: man-db: Arrow keys do not work in man

2013-10-01 Thread Hans-J. Ullrich
Package: man-db
Version: 2.6.5-2
Severity: important

Dear maintainers,

since some time the arrow keys do not work in man any more, as they did before,
In other programs like vi or less, they do still work. So I guess, something
has hapened or changed.

It would be nice, if you could have a look at it.

Thanks and best regards

Bug#725154: pu: package oss-compat/2

2013-10-01 Thread Stephen Kitt
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: pu

Hi,

oss-compat in stable suffers from two serious bugs:
  * 660803, related to changes in kmod (and causing issues when
installing Debian Edu wheezy);
  * 718241, which was initially just a tracking bug for testing but
also applies to wheezy.

The latter bug doesn't contain much rationale; basically the issue is
that oss-compat installs modprobe configuration to load OSS modules
automatically, and since this takes the form of a configuration file,
the modules are still loaded even when oss-compat is removed (but not
purged). This is undesirable in and of itself, but it also complicates
for future upgrades: anything causing an automatic removal of
oss-compat will be broken if it requires the modules not to load
(cf. osspd which now provides oss-compat; I'd like oss-compat in
jessie to recommend osspd).

The attached patch fixes these two bugs in wheezy in the same way as
in jessie; the relevant versions of the package have been in jessie
for a while.

Regards,

Stephen

Bug#725004: big endian bug

2013-10-01 Thread Joey Hess
I belive all failed arches are big endian.

The Crypto/Cipher/TripleDES.hs which is failing a roundtrip decrypt . encrypt
test is littered with code that assumes little endian:

word64ToBs :: Word64 -> B.ByteString
word64ToBs = runPut . putWord64le

This has been extensively rewritten in the 0.6.1 release, and I believe
fixed for big endian. haskell-cipher-aes would need to be upgraded
to update to that version, but I see no other obstacles..

Bug#725153: migrate to libnss3

2013-10-01 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Package: openldap
Version: 2.4.31-1+nmu2
Severity: wishlist

Hi

I'd like to migrate openldap to build against the NSS libs, in order
to support features on 389ds where it is acting as an SSL client
(replication etc) and expects NSS. 389 depends on libldap, but when it's
built against gnutls things break.

Licensing-wise it's not an issue, since NSS is dual-licensed
MPL-1.1/LGPL-2.1 so they're compatible.

The ultimate goal is to eventually provide full FreeIPA server
experience on Debian.

Package: armagetronad-dedicated

Please build armagetrondad-dedicated with --enable-authentication.

This will alow the server to be able to offer clients an authentication
while playing.

Not having this option prevents using the debian package as a server for
most competitions that require people to login.

It's also a drawback when trying to set some options (like restricting
the ability to play, or to poll votes to authenticated users)

Bug#725151: icedove: Delete button in toolbar gets out of sync

2013-10-01 Thread Richard Hector
Package: icedove
Version: 17.0.9-1~deb7u1
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

Steps to reproduce:
* set delete messages to mark as deleted only
* add a delete button to the top toolbar
* select the last message in a folder, so that automatic advance
to the next message isn't possible
* click the top delete button

Notice that the label stays as 'Delete', though the message is now
marked as deleted. Further clicks will toggle the button label and the
state of the message, so the label continues to indicate the opposite
of the action it will cause.

Ok, I'll try my luck. I managed to revamp the package in a way that my
UltraSparc still boots. ;-)

I though couldn't yet play around with silo on sparc64, see my other
recent mail to debian-sp...@lists.debian.org.

Given.

Request sent. I'm also already subscribed to the debootloaders-silo
mailing list.

I though don't intent to continue maintaining the package in svn, but

I'll create the git repository on Alioth and push my changes as soon

In my case I'm using Gnome, so I don't have that path problem. My
qtcreator would be using the standard qmake at /usr/bin/qmake.

Agreed, it does make sense for Qt4 to be the default at the moment.

Using qtchooser sounds like a reasonable way of detecting all known Qt
versions. Gives a bit of overkill with "5" vs "qt5" vs
"qt5-x86_64-linux-gnu", but I guess for developers more is better than
less.

Thanks for the explanation!

Yes, I just reproduced it again. It doesn't seem to be a 100% failure rate,

Bug#725149: git diff blocks scroll wheel

2013-10-01 Thread jasen
Package: git
Version: 1:1.7.10.4-1+wheezy1
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

if I run "git diff" in a gnome-terminal I get a colorized output but
the scroll wheel doesn't work

if I run "git diff --color | less -r"

The scroll wheel works.

It seems that when git launches less, less doesn't switch to the
alternate screen and thus gnome-terminal doesn't translate scroll
events.

Bug#530027: Even auto-added printers can fail

2013-10-01 Thread Stefan Monnier
I bumped into this problem with a printer auto-added by cups-browsed:
apparently, cups-browsed added the printer under the FQDN name in
printers.conf, but cupsd somehow expected a different host name
(I guess cupsd uses $(hostname) to decide on the expected servername,
and in my case $(hostname) is different from the FQDN name).

Please file a bug if you find that's not turns out to be the case :)

> So I'm reporting no error in libqt5qml-quickcontrols. But is there an
> error in qtcreator, that it did not detect Qt 5.1.1 automatically? I'm
> reassigning this bug to qtcreator for further discussion.

Well, it turns out to be a multi-layered bug. With another bug in the middle.

Let's start with the "bug in the middle". If you happen to be using KDE, there
is a bug (already reported and fixed upstream) that makes $PATH to be
incorrect:

lisandro@luna:~$ echo $PATH
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/qt4/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/games:/usr/games

The first path should not be in there.

This affects the way qtcreator detects Qt installations.

Now for qtcreator's detection system. It basically searches for qmake in the
path and runs qmake -version

lisandro@luna:~$ qmake -version
QMake version 2.01a
Using Qt version 4.8.6 in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu

But nowadays we currently have qtchooser in the middle. In Debian qtchooser
will default to Qt4 as described in [0]:

SO ARE YOU GOING TO BREAK THE ARCHIVE WITH A BIG TRANSITION?
No, we have done our best to avoid having to make any changes to existing
Qt4 packages. Qt tools should default to Qt4 except if overriden by any
  method described above.

This is because we needed to avoid a big and horrendous transition for
packages that build against Qt4. We simply let Qt4 be the default except if
manually overriden.

[0]

But we may still have a qtcreator bug here. I just removed the file that makes
Qt4 the default installation and ran qmake -version. Fail. Same with
qtcreator, it will not detect any installation.

Maybe it should now call qtchooser -list-versions and then call qmake for each
of them. I'll check with upstream and see what they say.

Kinds regards, Lisandro.

I've found out what the problem is. I was using the Qt5 kit that
QtCreator found automatically. But when I had a closer look, I saw it
was a local copy of Qt5.0.0beta2, not the current Debian version of
5.1.1.

To get access to 5.1.1, I found I had to manually add a new kit,
specifying qmake at /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/bin/qmake.

After I did that, specifying a build with Qt 5.1.1, I can safely "import
QtQuick.Controls 1.0" into new projects. (I still have errors adding it
to an existing Qt program, I'll assume that's just normal Qt4->Qt5
porting problem rather than a package bug)

So I'm reporting no error in libqt5qml-quickcontrols. But is there an
error in qtcreator, that it did not detect Qt 5.1.1 automatically? I'm
reassigning this bug to qtcreator for further discussion.

What do you get when you run

Bug#725146: libqt5qml-quickcontrols: module "QtQuick.Controls" is not installed

2013-10-01 Thread Drew Parsons
Package: libqt5qml-quickcontrols
Version: 5.1.1-1
Severity: normal

I'm trying to prepare a Qt5 program, using QtCreator 2.8.1 (2.8.1-3).
I want to use the new QtQuick Controls, so I've installed
libqt5qml-quickcontrols.

QtCreator knows the new module exists: when you start
typing 'import QtQ' into your QML file, then
'import QtQuick.Controls 1.0' comes up as one of the automatic
alternatives.

But when I build and run, I get the run-time error message:

qrc:/qml/main.qml:3:1: module "QtQuick.Controls" is not installed

I can readily reproduce the error by starting a New Project in
QtCreator, selecting "Qt Quick 2 application (Built-in Types)" or
"Qt Quick2 UI" (the ones which print "Hello world!" on a white
background), and adding "import QtQuick.Controls 1.0" to the default
main.qml file.

One can attempt to load one interface before the other, by adding this
(for example)

options snd-hda-intel index=1 id="HD Intel HDMI"
to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

For some reason I'm not going to figure out right now,
it Loads the HDMI interface last.

At least xfce4-mixer then will use the 'first' card.

Of course, it still has the same name, but I don't have to select the
'second' card every time I pull the mixer up.

Bug#725143: unbuildable on some archs

2013-10-01 Thread Rebecca N. Palmer

Source: ogre-1.9
Tags: patch

Using __sync_fetch_and_add_8 on architectures without native support
requires the libatomic library
(http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=56300), which is part of
GCC 4.8+.

The attached patch links against this library and forces compilation
with gcc/g++ 4.8. It also disables --as-needed on ia64 to work around
bug #718047.

This should fix everything except armhf (crashing make, which is a bug
there not here), but has not been tested.

I traced this to the fixes for content-length in dev.13,

Bug#725142: pu: package totem-plugin-arte/3.2.1-1~wheezy1

2013-10-01 Thread Nicolas Delvaux
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: pu

The current totem-plugin-arte package in Wheezy is unusable because of a
changes on Arte's website.

My package is on mentors.debian.net:

http://mentors.debian.net/package/totem-plugin-arte

The version I'm proposing is directly based on the latest upstream release,
which fix this problem and some other (small) issues.
Backporting the relevant commits as patches to the current wheezy version would
bring most of the code from the new upstream version, so I thought adding a
small patch to make the new version build with the old Totem from Wheezy was
the right thing to do.

Here is the upstream changelog since 3.1.2 (the current Wheezy version), with
some annotations.

-

2013 September 22th - Totem Arte Plugin 3.2.1

Changes since 3.2.0:
 * Fixed the extraction of https video links
 * Fixed preferences mnemonics in English

2013 September 10th - Totem Arte Plugin 3.2.0

Changes since 3.1.3:
 * Fix stream extraction from the new Arte website
 * Reimplementation of the removed Totem.CellRenderVideo -> could be reverted
 * New and more efficient primary video feed source (JSON) -> Now required
 * Support for low quality streams -> could be reverted
 * Minor bug fixes and translation updates

2012 December 9th - Totem Arte Plugin 3.1.3

Changes since 3.1.2:
 * Fix compilation with Vala 0.18 and Totem 3.6.0 -> REVERTED, see
debian/patches

-

The new package also includes the harden binary that is already in experimental
and Ubuntu since many months.

Here is the proposed debian/changelog:

totem-plugin-arte (3.2.1-1~wheezy1) stable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release
  * Add a patch to build against Totem 3.0 (revert an upstream commit)
  * Harden the binary, fix 2 lintian warnings
  * Bump Debian Policy to 3.9.4 (no change needed)

 -- Nicolas Delvaux Wed, 02 Oct 2013 00:20:15
+0200

Totem-plugin-arte is a leaf package and the current Wheezy version is unusable.
IMHO, this looks like a very low risk upgrade.

Nicolas

Bug#725141: libpam-abl: Whitelisting host corrupted database

2013-10-01 Thread Bill Wohler
Package: libpam-abl
Version: 0.4.3-1
Severity: normal

Today I tried to whitelist one of my hosts with the following results.
The second pam_abl listing hung and had to be interrupted with C-c.

$ sudo pam_abl

$ sudo pam_abl --whitelist -H
No such file or directory (2) while reading config file
Invalid argument (22) while reading config file: No db_home dir specified
$ sudo pam_abl
pam-abl: unable to join the environment
pam-abl: unable to join the environment
^C $

I removed all of the files in my pam-abl database directory
(db_home=/var/lib/abl/) and this cleared up the problem.

In addition to having a corrupted database, the error message above is
incorrect; as you can see, db_home *is* specified.

Note that I just upgraded to wheezy, so I'm suspecting a database
upgrade had a role to play. If this is true, please retitle this issue
to "Upgrading database version corrupts database." Dependencies should
be put in place so that the pam-abl database is automatically rebuilt
upon a database upgrade. At the very least, documentation should be
added to /usr/share/doc/libpam-abl/README.Debian. For example, please
see Section 2.6, Updating Berkeley DB version underneath bogofilter, in
/usr/share/doc/bogofilter-bdb/README.db.

Hi,

what you attached was only the upstream part, with no debian changelog
update, and no documentation at all. Following the steps I mentioned in
my initial reply would be nice:
  http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2012/05/msg00188.html

Most importantly:
You're supposed to send a source debdiff against the package currently

Tagging moreinfo until we see a source debdiff.

I think you might be experiencing ITS#7292. What do you think? If you
bring up a new server with the same configuration and an empty
database and allow it to start replicating, like in the ITS, do you
observe the same memory usage?

http://www.openldap.org/its/index.cgi/Software%20Bugs?id=7292

It was fixed upstream in 2.4.32 by a series of commits:

http://www.openldap.org/devel/gitweb.cgi?p=openldap.git;a=shortlog;h=dc912776;hp=65c0cd19

If it's easy for you to rebuild a package and deploy it in a testing
environment, you might try doing so with those changes integrated.

> We use the online config. In attachment is the corresponding slapd.conf.

I tried to reproduce your report but wasn't successful yet. Is it
possible for you to reduce the testcase any further? For example, can
you still trigger it if you omit some of the overlays?

Dear Maintainer,

Lintian fails to build on Ubuntu, because the binaries-missing-depends-on-libc
test fails. Ubuntu uses --as-needed as default. The test file does not use any
function from libstdc++ or libc. Attached a patch that adds some code to require
a linkage to the C++ library.

Thanks. I'm already working on the new Debian packages. The release is the
reason I'd not uploaded packages to fix the open bugs sooner. The bugs are both
fixed in the new release, but the D language changes made backporting a

Bug#725138: gnupg: deleted pubring.gpg on control-C, then creates empty one

Package: gnupg

Hi,

I was doing a gpg --refresh and stopped it with control-C. When I
then tried to restart it, I got:
$ gpg --refresh
gpg: keyring `/home/kurt/.gnupg/pubring.gpg' created

And now have:

-rw--- 1 kurt kurt 70918836 Oct 2 00:16 pubring.gpg~

It actually seems to have a signal handler for this, since it
shows this on control-C:
gpg: Interrupt caught ... exiting

However, it really should put back some file at this point.

Bug#725135: ITP: libfile-sharedir-projectdistdir-perl -- simple set-and-forget use of a share directory in the project root

2013-10-01 Thread Florian Schlichting
Package: wnpp

  Version : 0.5.2
  Upstream Author : Kent Fredric
* URL : https://metacpan.org/release/File-ShareDir-ProjectDistDir
* License : GPL-1+, Artistic

Description : simple set-and-forget use of a share directory in the
project root

File::ShareDir::ProjectDistDir provides a simple way to make use of a
'share' directory. During development, the directory will be
$projectroot/share, but once installed, it will be wherever
File::Sharedir thinks it is. Use of a directory name other than 'share'
is also possible.

Yes, shockingly, software evolves over time. And depending on the feature,
yes, some things have had issues needing to be resolved more than others.
Has back-bdb/hdb been stable for a long time? Yes. I've back-bdb since
2.2, and back-hdb since 2.3 on. Has MMR been stable? Not particularly.
Delta-syncrepl MMR (Introduced in 2.4.27) has been quite stable, however.
Essentially if Debian even had 2.4.33 rather than 2.4.31 available, then I
doubt you'd see much if any traffic on bugs, as long as the end user used
delta-syncrepl MMR if they were doing multi-master.

As for that FAQ, Russ is entitled to his opinion about the best way to
deploy an OpenLDAP server, as are you. But Russ is no longer a
comaintainer of this package in Debian, and it is patently *false* to say
that the distribution packages are not *meant* to be used for production
services.

If this is false, I've yet to see any evidence of Debian being capable of
producing a package suitable for running a production service. As I said
before, if Debian can do that, then I'll stop telling people to stop using
it. This is no different than what I tell people running RHEL, SLES, etc.
I'm really not aware of *any* distribution that can competently provide an
OpenLDAP package to its community. RHEL is many ways is *much* worse than
Debian, not only because of the age of their product, but because they also
link to the god-awful MozNSS libraries. GnuTLS is at least a step up from
that.

Your persistent badmouthing of Debian, its package maintainers, and its
processes in our own bug tracker is absolutely uncalled for. If you
aren't actually interested in helping Debian improve its packages, then
just go away.

I'm trying to provide worthwhile advice to someone experiencing problems
directly related to using the Debian package. As long as Debian only has
2.4.31 available to its users, then the *only* reasonable advise is to not
use that package. Period. If you are blind to that *fact* I cannot help
that. If you want to do something about it, since you *are* one of the
packagers, then backport a newer version.

Either way, you're picking a fight where there isn't one, and you have the
ability to resolve the issue for all your users.

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi Juhani,

I honestly wasn't aware that version of Debian exited, till you told
me! I have setup a virtual machine to test the software under
kFreeBSD, to ensure there are no obvious bugs...

At the moment I have found a bug and have contacted the upstream
author for advice, but thought I'd ask here as well in case you know
the answer.

At line 163 [1] hv.c calls openpty. This works fine on my main
computer, but under the kFreeBSD VM it fails with the following error:

Create pseudo-terminal: No child processes

Any ideas what the problem may be?

Rebuilding gmpc made it look for plugins in a multiarch directory,
effectively making gmpc-plugins unusable.
Sorry that I didn't catch this.

I'm bumping the severity so that it does not break testing and
will prepare a fix ASAP.

I see two solutions:

- make the plugins multiarch-aware. This means enable multi-arch
in gmpc-plugins, add a versioned Breaks in gmpc.
- load the plugins from a non-multiarch directory, as before.

It seems to me that there is no point in making the plugins multiarch,
because they can only be used by gmpc, and only one gmpc can be
installed, but I may be overlooking something.

In the meantime, you can make gmpc look in the correct directory by
setting an environment variable:

PLUGIN_DIR=/usr/lib/gmpc/plugins gmpc

Thanks for this bug report, this is what unstable is for I guess :)

Bug#722134: Slidy licensing - independent (i.e. dual-licensed) or combined?

2013-10-01 Thread Rigo Wenning
Hi Jonas,

sorry for the inconvenience. While making slidy, it looks like Dave or
someone else just used template text from W3C licensing. To understand
that licensing, you have to look into the general licensing statement
from W3C:
http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Legal/2002/ipr-notice-20021231

There it says:
The Software License governs distribution of W3C W3C Open Source
Software and some other materials where creation of derivative works may
be desired.

Slidy is clearly open source software and thus is fully under the W3C
Software license. The W3C Software license is GPL and FSF compatible:
http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Legal/IPR-FAQ-2620.html#GNU1

So from our side, there are no issues with using Slidy in open source.

I realise it would have been a little bit of a pain, but in some ways
four separate bugs (one per source package) would have been easier to
track.

In any case, please go ahead, using "wheezy" as the changelog
distribution. For version numbers, if you're planning on using the
unstable upload as a base and adding an additional changelog stanza,
please use ${unstable_version}~deb7u1; otherwise, starting from the
stable changelog please use ${stable_version}+deb7u1.

Ten years of experience with this package shows me that there is no reason
to expect the new versions upstream recommends to be any less buggy than the
old ones you constantly slag Debian in our own BTS for shipping. Maybe if
there was some evidence of OpenLDAP getting less buggy over time, there
would be reason to agree with this assessment. As it is, all the package's
history shows is that there is no shortage of critical bugs in any version
of the software. It is the height of absurdity to suggest that every other
historical version of slapd has had serious bugs, but *this* version, which
is brand new and has had no burn-in in which to even discover bugs, is
bug-free. That bugs being reported in the Debian version of the package are
known bugs is no evidence at all that the current upstream version is better
suited to production use.

As for that FAQ, Russ is entitled to his opinion about the best way to
deploy an OpenLDAP server, as are you. But Russ is no longer a comaintainer
of this package in Debian, and it is patently *false* to say that the
distribution packages are not *meant* to be used for production services.
That upstream has yet to deliver a reasonably bug-free version of the
software that users can rely on for any extended period of time is no
reflection on the intent of the Debian packagers.

Your persistent badmouthing of Debian, its package maintainers, and its
processes in our own bug tracker is absolutely uncalled for. If you aren't
actually interested in helping Debian improve its packages, then just go
away.

Bug#725131: cryptsetup: manpage is wrong for "open"

2013-10-01 Thread Sebastian Reichel
Package: cryptsetup
Version: 2:1.6.1-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

The manpage of cryptsetup has the following syntax for open:

open --type

But the actual syntax is as for it is as follows (from --help):

open [--type ] [] - open device as mapping

Thus the first parameter is device and not name.

I wasn't even aware of the comment mechanism for overrides.

On some level, I think it should be "obvious" that essential packages
need and deserve special handling .. and thus documenting this really
shouldn't be necessary. But, since this bug report makes it entirely
clear that isn't true, and as you point out I already have this lovely
chunk of text...

It'll be in the next upload.

That looks okay. In terms of the other suggested updates, as a
non-release architecture for wheezy, hurd-specific patches aren't really
appropriate for a stable update.

  * debian/testsuite-checking/compare.sh: Disable failing the build on test
regressions to ease the pain of ongoing stable/security maintenance.

It does slightly worry me here that real regressions might get missed,
as the chances of anyone combing through the build logs are small. I do
realise that the change has been in unstable and testing for a while
now.

  * debian/debhelper.in/libc.preinst: Remove ld.so's aux-cache on upgrades.

This looks reasonable enough.

In any case, if someone would still like to take this forward, please
could we have a debdiff for the proposed upload.

Regards,

Adam

IO::Pipely provides a couple functions to portably create one- and
two-way pipes and pipe-like socket pairs. It acknowledges and works
around known platform issues so you don't have to.
.
IO::Pipely currently understands pipe(), UNIX-domain socketpair() and
regular IPv4 localhost sockets. It will use different kinds of pipes or
sockets depending on the operating system's capabilities and the number
of directions requested. The autodetection may be overridden by
specifying a particular pipe type.

IO::Pipely is a spin-off of the POE project's portable pipes. Earlier
versions of the code have been tested and used in production systems for
over a decade.

I finally to round to uploading this to experimental. I sent it there
because I added debconf prompting when the platform cannot be determined
and wanted to let it settle for a bit before unleshing it on unstable.

Anyway, you'll want to select the "unknown" option for now but if you
want to send me a qcontrol.conf for your platform I'll include it in a
future upload.

Bug#706001: libsfml2 update

2013-10-01 Thread James Cowgill
Hello Shirish,

Thanks for doing some testing on my package!

Almost all the warnings in the build log are from doxygen and are only
relevant for minor parts of the documentation. The "ignoring return
value" warning has been suppressed upstream for 2.2 and including a
patch is pointless when they're so many warnings anyway. The
dpkg-shlibdeps ones at the bottom are minor but I'll have a look at
them.

The 600MB of dependencies you had probably came from doxygen-latex,
which you didn't actually need to install since sfml doesn't use latex
documentation. :)

I'm not sure if your sponsorship email was for me or not, but my
libsfml2 package has already been sponsored by John Paul Adrian Glaubitz
and is currently waiting in the new queue.

I suspect you know it already since you seem to be a member of the
upstream development team, but just to be sure (and also in case others
follow this bug report):

A new upstream release (5.9.10) was released today[1] which contains a
fix for at least #707268. From the upstream changelog[2]:

1.7 The D bindings and examples have been converted from the old
version of D (D1) to the new version of D (D2)

[2] http://sourceforge.net/projects/plplot/files/plplot/5.9.10%20Source/

(Stumbled over it by accident, because I've just uploaded a new
upstream release of GNU Data Language and I wanted to check how the
chances are for it to migrate to Jessie in acceptable time.)

The attached patch would omit VAAPI from dh_install on kfreebsd.
(kfreebsd-amd64 install file is hardlinked to the same as kfreebsd-i386)

I did try anyway to --enable-vaapi, but currently it fails for another
reason:

It may be simple enough to fix that, but I wouldn't go against
upstream's explicit choice without a good reason, and a way to test that
it really works and is useful.

The upload happened, and I've just flagged it for acceptance; thanks.
