Bug#1042932: ksshaskpass: Error message from ksshaskpass: QSocketNotifier: Can only be used with threads started with QThread
Package: ksshaskpass Version: 4:5.27.5-2 Severity: minor X-Debbugs-Cc: c...@chris-hanson.org Dear Maintainer, This has been happening since I installed Debian shortly after the release. I believe it's caused by ksshaskpass and not ssh because the message goes away when the key is added to the ssh key agent. I haven't tested this with a different askpass program but I think it's pretty obvious that this is a qt/kde issue. FWIW I'm running KDE on Wayland. Please let me know if you need any other info. Bug#466317: cl-modlisp: please depend on libapache2-mod-lisp
Package: cl-modlisp Severity: serious The cl-modlisp package currently depends on libapache-mod-lisp, which is scheduled for removal from Debian. This dependency is preventing cl-modlisp from entering testing, so it's worth fixing. Bug#408906: hdapsd: suggested THRESHOLD is out of range
Package: hdapsd Version: 1:0.0.20061007-1 Severity: normal In the new packages (thanks for putting them together!) the file /etc/default/hdapsd contains a variable assignment THRESHOLD=15, which is then translated into a "-s" option that's passed to the program. But the acceptable range for this option is a real number between zero and one, inclusive, according to the code. The THRESHOLD variable is a holdover from the older hdapsd design, and isn't really appropriate here. At the least, it should be renamed SENSITIVITY. But it's probably better to eliminate the variable altogether, since there's no documentation explaining what it does or how to choose an appropriate value. Reading the code doesn't help, since this is just one variable in a complex equation. If you do decide to keep the variable, make sure there's a default. Right now, if THRESHOLD isn't set in /etc/default/hdapsd, then the program is called without an argument to the "-s" option. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.19.2-cph1 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages hdapsd depends on: ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-10 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii lsb-base3.1-23 Linux Standard Base 3.1 init scrip hdapsd recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#401259: logcheck: logcheck needs to override locale for grep
Package: logcheck Version: 1.2.51 Severity: normal Logcheck has an implicit assumption that the default locale should be used by grep when processing log files. However, that's not always the case. For example, I use the locale "en_US.UTF-8", and consequently grep assumes that its inputs are encoded as UTF-8. But the log files appear to be encoded as ISO 8859-1, which means that sometimes my rules don't match. Specifically, I have a rule that reads ^\w{3} [ :0-9]{11} [._[:alnum:]-]+ kernel: input: .* as /class/input/input[0-9]+$ which is supposed to ignore messages from the kernel announcing input devices. But the following log line isn't handled right: Dec 2 00:05:01 ravna kernel: input: Microsoft Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse® 1.0A as /class/input/input3 The reason it doesn't match is that the "R in a circle" character is encoded in the log file as using the ISO 8859-1 code 0xae, but this isn't a valid first byte of a UTF-8 code. Consequently, the "." pattern doesn't match it. In fact, I don't think there's _any_ way to match this byte sequence in a UTF-8 locale. Unfortunately I'm not sure what to do about this, because it's not obvious how the log-file messages relate to the locale. This message comes from the kernel, which presumably doesn't know what the locale is. Furthermore, this particular text is coming directly from the device, and just being passed along by the kernel -- I have no idea if USB specifies the character coding that is used in these strings, or if it's just an uninterpreted sequence of bytes that are encoded any way the manufacturer pleases. Bug#398493: gnupg2: info files improperly installed
Package: gnupg2 Version: 2.0.0-1 Severity: normal The info files for gnupg2 aren't installed right, and additionally there are some problems with their content. Here are the problems: * There are two info files, but only one is installed. Specifically, the file "doc/gnupg.info-1" isn't being installed. Also, the (installed) file "doc/gnupg.info" is looking for "gnupg.info-1" and will need to be modified to look for "gnupg2.info-1" once that is installed. * The info files aren't being registered, so they don't appear in the info directory and "info gnupg2" doesn't work. Since the package uses debhelper, the easiest way to get this to work is to call dh_installinfo in debian/rules (and provide a .postinst file). * The info file refers to the program as "gpg", but it should be called "gpg2" to prevent confusion. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18.2-cph1 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages gnupg2 depends on: ii libbz2-1.0 1.0.3-6 high-quality block-sorting file co ii libc62.3.6.ds1-8 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcrypt11 1.2.3-2 LGPL Crypto library - runtime libr ii libgpg-error01.4-2 library for common error values an ii libksba8 1.0.0-1 X.509 and CMS support library ii libldap2 2.1.30-13.2 OpenLDAP libraries ii libreadline5 5.2-1 GNU readline and history libraries ii makedev 2.3.1-83creates device files in /dev ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-13 compression library - runtime Versions of packages gnupg2 recommends: ii gnupg 1.4.5-2GNU privacy guard - a free PGP rep -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#348604: please try libmhash2 0.9.6-2
I just uploaded libmhash2 0.9.6-2 to unstable. Please try this as I think it will fix these bugs. (I'm pretty sure they are both the same bug.) I think what's happening is that there are two separate bugs. In 0.9.4a the function mutils_word32swap was broken and caused a segfault on big-endian architectures. This was fixed upstream in 0.9.6. However, behind that bug was another in the function _mhash_gen_key_s2k_simple, which also caused a segfault. This second bug should be fixed by a patch I applied. (But if it isn't, an error will be signalled rather than a segfault.) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I released a new version recently, and as far as I can tell there's no consensus on whether the suggested fixes actually work. Plus, the upstream sources don't seem to be generally accessible now, so it's hard to tell what's going on there. So I continue to wait for something useful to happen. Plus, I've been teaching a new class this term and consequently have very little time. But the term's almost over. Bug#358339: mit-scheme: better package granularity?
Date: Wed, 22 Mar 2006 06:59:48 -0300 From: =?UTF-8?Q?Rog=C3=A9rio?= Brito <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> First of all, thank you very much for packaging mit-scheme. I hope to use it for some of the next courses that I'll offer, if everything goes well. You're welcome. For instance, I see that the documentation represents a good amount of the package (and, perhaps, this would be a good thing to have in an Architecture: all package). I never thought of the documentation as being that big. But the package is about 35 MB in size, and the documentation is about 6 MB, so I see what you mean. That sounds like a reasonable idea. This, perhaps, could also be done to other files under /usr/lib/mit-scheme, if they are not platform dependent (I'm mostly thinking of the *.bci files). If they are indeed platform independent, then it would be nice to have then "factored out" also. They _are_ platform dependent, but since those files are about 12 MB, I agree that they should be separated out. I'll be happy to take care of this when I next have some time to work on the package. Right now I'm very busy teaching a class of my own, using Scheme of course. :) Chris -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#264312: Bug #264312: grub: update-grub does not sort kernels correctly
This bug has been exacerbated by the new kernel naming convention. Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.14-cph3 Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.14-cph2 Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.14.2-cph1 Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.13.4-cph1 where the 2.6.14.2 kernel should come first. Obviously, this is partially my own fault, for using a suffix that starts with "-", but the sorting algorithm should probably try to identify the "standard" part of the kernel version (3 or 4 numerical values separated by dots) and treat it specially. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#334941: #334941: menu-xdg: No more applications
I was having the exact same problem. In my case, simply running "update-menus" solved the problem. I'm not sure why this was needed, since it must have been run during the upgrade. However, prior to running the script, the directory "/var/lib/menu-xdg/applications/" was absent; running the script created it with appropriate contents. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". I can't install it -- it's not in the archive. But I've had libgal-data waiting to be upgraded for 10 days, unable to do so because it depends on the missing libgal23. I know that the override file usually wins, but I can't find any other reason why the package is being kept out of the archive. The buildd seems to have been successful. What else could cause this?

Bug#317494: libc6-dev: illegal syntax in obstack.h
Package: libc6-dev Version: 2.3.2.ds1-22 Severity: normal Tags: sid, upstream The following definitions cause errors when compiled with gcc-4.0: obstack_ptr_grow obstack_int_grow obstack_ptr_grow_fast obstack_int_grow_fast The problem is that they each contain a statement of the form *((foo *) bar->next_free)++ = baz; which is not legal C code, because the ++ operator uses the preceding cast expression as an lvalue, but cast expressions _aren't_ lvalues. One way of dealing with this is to rewrite each instance as *((foo *) bar->next_free) = baz; bar->next_free += (sizeof (foo)); which works because the next_free field is a "char *". -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (1200, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12.2-cph2 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages libc6-dev depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii linux-kernel-headers2.6.12.0-1 Linux Kernel Headers for developme Versions of packages libc6-dev recommends: ii gcc [c-compiler] 4:4.0.0-2 The GNU C compiler ii gcc-2.95 [c-compiler]1:2.95.4-22 The GNU C compiler ii gcc-3.3 [c-compiler] 1:3.3.6-7 The GNU C compiler ii gcc-3.4 [c-compiler] 3.4.4-5 The GNU C compiler ii gcc-4.0 [c-compiler] 4.0.0-12The GNU C compiler -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#300777: resolvconf: Problematic removal of "domain" support
Package: resolvconf Version: 1.26 Severity: normal I just noticed that resolvconf no longer properly supports "domain" statements. After reading the message log for bug 276960 it seems that you think "domain" is equivalent to "search" -- but it isn't. In the absence of "domain", attempting something like host kleph returns NXDOMAIN, while host kleph.csail.mit.edu returns an IP address. This behavior is true even though there is a "search" line: search csail.mit.edu ai.mit.edu mit.edu in resolv.conf. For now, I have worked around this by adding the appropriate "domain" statement to "resolvconf.d/head", after which "host kleph" is equivalent to the FQDN form. I'm not sure how to fix both this and bug 276960, but I'm willing to discuss it if that will help. Bug#217961: Add support for schema- and interface- based profile selection
Date: Tue, 28 Oct 2003 16:59:17 -0500 From: "Theodore Ts'o" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Would you also accept some minor small patches that make the scheme be persistent, and a setuid program that allows a user to set the scheme without having to use sudo (since giving sudo access to /etc/init.d/laptop-net is too much access)? I'm in the process of getting a new laptop-net out. I don't think you ever sent me these patches. If you send them to me I'll put them in. Date: Wed, 12 Jan 2005 03:04:30 -0800 From: Steve Langasek <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Package: r5rs-doc Version: 20010328-6 Severity: serious The scm package will be removed from sarge shortly due to release-critical bugs that appear to be far from trivial to fix. Can you explain further? I see two RC bugs filed against the package. One appears to be specific to the sarge release (build works fine in unstable), and the other has a suggested fix. I must be missing something. I would strongly prefer to fix the scm package rather than rewrite r5rs-doc. Have you talked to Aubrey about the problems? I know him pretty well and I'm sure he'd be willing to help. Chris -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
