Bug#749428: pycuda: allow automatic sync into Ubuntu

I was only able to find that nvidia-cuda-toolkit depends on nvidia-cuda-dev, which in turn recommends libcuda1, not depends on it. Sorry, I only saw your reply now when I received a notification about #749489 being closed. No problem. nvidia-cuda-toolkit - nvidia-cuda-dev - libcuinj64-5.5 - libcuda1 nvidia-cuda-toolkit - nvidia-profiler - libcuda1 Thanks for information. I've tagged this bug as pending; I'll probably upload fix for it when uploading PyCUDA 2014.1. I have also suggested to the maintainer of nvidia-cuda-toolkit to upgrade the recommends on libcuda1 to a depends, so in future you can rely on it being there, no matter what happens to libcuinj64-5.5 and nvidia-profiler. I've checked and libcudart5.5 also depends on libcuda. libcudart is rather basic package so it should not go away... -- Tomasz Rybak GPG/PGP key ID: 2AD5 9860 Fingerprint A481 824E 7DD3 9C0E C40A 488E C654 FB33 2AD5 9860 http://member.acm.org/~tomaszrybak signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

Bug#749428: pycuda: allow automatic sync into Ubuntu
Source: pycuda Version: 2013.1.1+git20140310-1 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer Your package has a build dependency on libcuda1. As Ubuntu has more than one version of the Nvidia graphics drivers in its archive, this package has several names in Ubuntu; e.g. libcuda1-304, libcuda1-331, libcuda1-331-updates. This means your package needs to be manually merged into Ubuntu every time a new version of your package is released. Please consider making one of the following changes to your package which will allow it to be automatically synchronized into Ubuntu in future. 1. Remove the libcuda1 build dependency. Your package also has a build dependency on nvidia-cuda-toolkit which in turn depends on libcuda1 in Debian, and all versions of libcuda1-* in Ubuntu. 2. Add an alternate dependency on libcuda-5.5-1, i.e. 'libcuda1 | libcuda-5.5-1'. Libcuda-5.5-1 is a virtual package provided by the libcuda1-* packages in Ubuntu. Note that this will need to be updated whenever new versions of nvidia-cuda-toolkit are released, e.g. libcuda-6.0-1, etc. Regards Graham -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
