Bug#761474: please add installation instructions
Package: powerline Version: 0~20140216-1 Severity: wishlist Hello Jerome, so I've installed powerline, but neither is now my command line any different nor is vim's. What now? So next thing to do is to go to /usr/share/doc/powerline and see, wheter there's a README.Debian or any other userful documents helping with installation. But no, there isn't very much help there either. There's a README.rst.gz (What's 'rst'? Should that maybe be 'first'?), however it only refers to online documentation that contains a lot of stuff: installation via pip, patching fonts et cetera. So maybe 'man powerline'? No success there either. Could you please include some user friendly installation documentation? Or otherwiser maybe refer directly to the relevant documentation sections in the online docu? On more question: are you intending to maintain that package? There are bug reports open against powerline for a few months now that are trivial to fix, but would improve its quality considerably (#753663, #753665, #758162). There are ways to get help with a package in Debian (RFH, orphanig, co-maintaining, letting people know you're interested in NMUs etc.). Hi Tomas, Could you please include some user friendly installation documentation? Or otherwiser maybe refer directly to the relevant documentation sections in the online docu? Agreed. To be honest these fixes have been sitting in my source tree, however I was simultaneously working on packaging a new upstream version but as the Powerline has seen intense development these last few weeks and thus changed considerably, I had some difficulty and the whole thing fell through. In any case, thanks for the heads up. I'll push a new package revision and keep my efforts to package a new upstream version seperate. -- Jerome signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

I was under the evidently wrong impression, that you weren't much active with your package any more. Ha! Nice you're not! Best greets and thanks! *t -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
