Apologies for not making it clear but my message was about the situation where a daemon needs configuration before it can be started. I'm glad that is now not the case for oomd. -- bye, pabs https://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise

Reuploaded and it should work out of box. > In addition the default sysvinit/systemd setup should be that the > service should be disabled by default until the admin enables it, IIRC > there is a policy section about that. https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-opersys.html says "The default behaviour is to enable autostarting your package’s daemon", IIUC.

In addition the default sysvinit/systemd setup should be that the service should be disabled by default until the admin enables it, IIRC there is a policy section about that. -- bye, pabs https://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise

Symbols fixed and added a sysv init file. It builds now, but the daemon fails to start. DESC=oomd NAME=oomd DAEMON=/usr/bin/$NAME -- yet the executable is /usr/bin/oomd_bin Upon correcting that, I get: oomd disabled in config ... (warning). /etc/default/oomd has: DAEMON_OPTS="--interval 1 --config /etc/oomd.json" and there's no /etc/oomd.json shipped. If there's no reasonable default setup, then an error message should at least say the config is missing. Meow! -- ⢀⣴⠾⠻⢶⣦⠀ ⣾⠁⢠⠒⠀⣿⡁ ⢿⡄⠘⠷⠚⠋ The root of a real enemy is an imaginary friend. ⠈⠳⣄
