Bug#512374: flashplugin-nonfree: Flashplayer isn't shown in list of installed plugins and neither works
Ok, I suppose it's my fault to have 32bit flash installed. I removed old version and manually linked .so from /etc/alternatives. Bug#512490: zope2.10: Problems with zope-formulator with this version of zope (fwd)
Hi Martijn, I would like to report a problem with the latest version of zope-formulator. I can confirm that I also have a similar problem with export / import of zope-formulator objects so there really seems to be a problem. I have the impression that zope formulator is not very actively maintained any more (other people just droped the package form the Debian distribution until I just grabbed it up again). It would be nice if you would keep us informed about the development status. The last message I see on the developer list from you is https://lists.infrae.com/pipermail/formulator-dev/2006-February/000142.html which is quite some time ago. Is there any solution for the problem which is reported below in SVN? Do you see a chance to fix this problem? Bug#512614: xset dpms rejects reasonable values as illegal
Package: x11-xserver-utils Version: 7.3+5 SUMMARY: xset blanking delays occur in series not parallel xset dpms 30 60 90 means a total of 180 sec before monitor off thus xset dpms 90 60 30 should also be legal -- but it is not Hi! $ xset dpms sets the delay before X turns your monitor to standby mode, to suspend mode, and then off. Pretty simple. Seems to work fine too. Sample output: $ xset dpms 30 60 90 $ while true; do echo "`date +%T` `xset -q | grep Monitor`"; sleep 10; done 00:59:01 Monitor is On 00:59:11 Monitor is On 00:59:21 Monitor is On 00:59:31 Monitor is in Standby 00:59:41 Monitor is in Standby 00:59:51 Monitor is in Standby 01:00:01 Monitor is in Standby 01:00:11 Monitor is in Standby 01:00:21 Monitor is in Standby 01:00:31 Monitor is in Suspend 01:00:41 Monitor is in Suspend 01:00:51 Monitor is in Suspend 01:01:01 Monitor is in Suspend 01:01:11 Monitor is in Suspend 01:01:21 Monitor is in Suspend 01:01:31 Monitor is in Suspend 01:01:41 Monitor is in Suspend 01:01:51 Monitor is in Suspend 01:02:01 Monitor is Off 01:02:11 Monitor is Off 01:02:21 Monitor is Off 01:02:31 Monitor is On ^C $ Note that it took exactly 30 seconds to reach standby, 60 seconds AFTER THAT to reach suspend, and then ANOTHER ADDITIONAL 90 seconds before the monitor turned off. Great, I get it, now I know how to ask for what I really want. So! Suppose we want X to wait three minutes before standby and then 30 seconds each before suspend and off? $ xset dpms 180 30 30 illegal combination of values standby time of 180 is greater than suspend time of 30 Oh no! OK, this is not of earth-shattering importance, but on the other hand it should be really easy to fix. I have had similar issues as well (first line > moved up front). Unfortunately, the code in sm is too simple to cause > this (I think). I guess I???m using pango where no man use used it > before... Guess you're right, I've isolated the issue down to the following snippet, which shows problematic behaviour on my debian machine, but seems to do ok on a standard ubuntu 8.04 system: - /* * gcc -o sm sm.c `pkg-config --cflags --libs pango gtk+-2.0` */ #include GtkWidget* window; PangoFontDescription *font; PangoLayout* layout; GtkWidget* draw; GdkGC *gc; static void redraw() { gdk_draw_layout(draw->window, gc, 0, 0, layout); } int main(int argc, char **argv) { gtk_init(&argc, &argv); window = gtk_window_new(GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL); draw = gtk_drawing_area_new(); gtk_container_add(GTK_CONTAINER(window), draw); layout = gtk_widget_create_pango_layout(draw, "ico"); font = pango_font_description_new(); pango_font_description_set_size(font, 120 * PANGO_SCALE); pango_layout_set_font_description(layout, font); gtk_widget_show_all(window); gc = gdk_gc_new(draw->window); g_signal_connect(G_OBJECT(draw), "expose-event", G_CALLBACK(redraw), NULL); gtk_main(); return 0; } --- It doesn't get much simpler than this. My guess is either a) There's an issue with pango b) The above snippet does not properly use the pango API Since the problem does not show on ubuntu, option a seems to be plausible. If I find the time I'll try to dig a bit deeper into the libs, although I find these kind of internals a bit scary myself. Posting on the pango list might be an idea. reassign 512623 mysql-client thanks Hello Axel, you shouldn't report the bugs against non-existent binary package names if you want to receive the response from the maintainer. It seems you didn't even used reportbug utility, because version is not specified too. However, I'm reassigning this bug to proper (or at least related) package. -- Eugene V. Bug#512633: The mod_wsgi.Log object does not have a 'closed' attribute
Package: libapache2-mod-wsgi Version: 2.3-1 Severity: minor Some background: The Hatta wiki engine uses a Mercurial repository as storage for it's data. It does this by directly importing the needed parts of Mercurial, not by running the actual hg command. In my case this lead to trouble when my Mercurial repository was in a funky state due to completely unrelated reasons. Mercurial wanted to print an error message to sys.stdout. This would've been easy to correct with the sys.stdout=sys.stderr-trick, except Mercurial contains code such as "if not sys.stdout.closed: sys.stdout.flush()" and the same for stderr. The mod_wsgi.Log object that replaces sys.stderr doesn't have the closed attribute, so the code fails and debugging a minor problem with the repo turned into an interresting project. It would be nice if an always false closed-attribute could be added to the Log object for additional compatibility even with code that isn't originally meant to be used with wsgi. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages libapache2-mod-wsgi depends on: ii apache2 2.2.11-2 Apache HTTP Server metapackage ii apache2-mpm-prefork [apache2] 2.2.11-2 Apache HTTP Server - traditional n ii apache2.2-common 2.2.11-2 Apache HTTP Server common files ii libc6 2.7-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii python2.5.2-3An interactive high-level object-o libapache2-mod-wsgi recommends no packages. Hi Harald, There are two search lines in your grub.cfg, and the logs you provided don't make it clear which of them is causing the problem. grubdbg-1.96%2B20080724-10.log refers to 249d254f-9ee3-4908-aec6-177 which is neither of them, and grubdbg-1.96%2B20081201-1.log only has scrambled output. I recommend that you try to reproduce this on grub-emu to obtain proper logs, and also tell us which of the search commands is failing. Actually, it'd be good to know if the problem appears at all in grub-emu or not, too. -- Robert Millan The DRM opt-in fallacy: "Your data belongs to us. Bug#512544: patch
tag 512544 + patch thanks The problem is that ncurses decides to select() on its own, and sets a default delay value of 1000 miliseconds for it, which is one full second. This can be modified, and I default it to 100msec now, which makes such problems bearable for the UI (0.1 sec is not perceived as slow) and should still work across slow internet links. The user can pass now a -e 1000 argument to set it back to the 1s default if they experience issues due to e.g. a slow link, or usage on a really slow serial link e.g. I've not patched the manpage though ;) Regards. diff -u dvtm-0.4.1/debian/changelog dvtm-0.4.1/debian/changelog --- dvtm-0.4.1.orig/dvtm.c +++ dvtm-0.4.1/dvtm.c @@ -140,6 +140,7 @@ bool need_screen_resize = true; int width, height; bool running = true; +int esc_delay = 100; void eprint(const char *errstr, ...) { @@ -850,6 +851,7 @@ signal(SIGWINCH, sigwinch_handler); signal(SIGCHLD, sigchld_handler); signal(SIGTERM, sigterm_handler); + set_escdelay(esc_delay); } void @@ -868,7 +870,7 @@ void usage() { cleanup(); - eprint("usage: dvtm [-v] [-m mod] [-s status] [cmd...]\n"); + eprint("usage: dvtm [-v] [-e escdelay] [-m mod] [-s status] [cmd...]\n"); exit(EXIT_FAILURE); } @@ -887,6 +889,16 @@ continue; } switch (argv[arg][1]) { + case 'e': + if (++arg >= argc) + usage(); + int delay = atoi(argv[arg]); + if (delay < 50) + delay = 50; + if (delay > 1000) + delay = 1000; + esc_delay = delay; + break; case 'v': puts("dvtm-"VERSION" (c) 2007-2008 Marc Andre Tanner"); exit(EXIT_SUCCESS); -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". I entered the search command manually. Could be that I mistyped something. But I think, it doesn't really matter, because grub crashes before it finds the volume, anyway. The logs seem to contain control characters. My guess is, that grub finds the journal volume, thinks its ext2 (which it kind of is) and expects to find some things, which are not there because it's not ext2, after all. Hello Vincent, Many thanks for your bug report. It would be easy to shortcut this by setting 3.0.* in install.rdf, which I did. Unfortunately, BioFox does not seem to work with sequences in the cut-paste buffer, and it uses an obsolete URL for PubMed searches. I will try to contact upstream, but otherwise it might be the kiss of death for biofox in Debian Lenny. PS: I could not figure out how to start extensions in IceApe. It appears that the consensus is that this is a bug in the postgres module but exposed by the curl module. I won't pretend to have a clue what I'm talking about, but I will note that, for instance, renaming '/ etc/php5/conf.d/curl.ini' to '/etc/php5/conf.d/postpgsql-curl.ini' seems to solve the problem. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#512645: lintian reports errors in package foo, because it does not honor files in the foo-data package, on which foo depends
Package: lintian Severity: minor Version: 2.1.5 Dear lintian maintainers, sorry for the subject line, but my concern is a little bit too complicated to describe it in one line, I guess. ;) Imagine I build a package foo, which consists of a binary in /usr/bin and architecture-independent content in /usr/share. Since the stuff in /usr/share takes quite a lot of space (think of files in /usr/share/locale) I want to put it in an arch:all package called foo-data. To achieve this I tell foo's Makefile that it must install into destdir=$CURDIR)/debian/tmp; then I create a debian/foo.install file containing the line "debian/tmp/usr/bin" and a debian/foo-data.install file that contains "debian/tmp/usr/share". Of course foo now also needs to depend on foo-data which I achieve by adding "foo-data (=${source:Version})" to foo's Depends line in debian/control. Alright, nothing new so far. But now, if I run lintian on the newly created packages, I get warnings like "binary-without-manpage: usr/bin/foo" which simply isn't true. There *is* a manpage for /usr/bin/foo, it simply isn't installed in the foo package but in the foo-data package and I even made sure that foo does not get installed without foo-data. Could you please make lintian check if there is a package (foo-data) created from the same source that contains the obviously missing files and if the assumed faulty package (foo) depends on this package (foo-data)? Thank you very much! Cheers, Fabian -- Dipl.-Phys.
