Bug#613634: linux-image-2.6.32-5-xen-amd64: Using pvcreate on a multipathed iscsi device produces a kernel bug

2011-02-16 Thread Simon Marechal
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.32-30
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I'm using a Dell powervault MD3200i that has 2 iscsi controllers with 4
ethernet ports each. The multipath-tools package is used to aggregate all links
in a single device (configuration is attached).
All of this is used on a Xen host with 4 network controllers : eth2 and eth3
are dedicated to the iscsi network, and eth0 and eth1 are bonded and used in
the xen bridge.
Creating file systems and using them seem to be working perfectly after very
basics tests (mkfs.ext3, copy / read files). However, if I want to create a
volume group on such a device, everything goes west :

I just realized that modifying the mappings on the SAN side and running
iscsiadmin -m session --rescan produces the same bug.

Thanks for reporting it. If anyone has time on a sparc, what might be
useful is

apt-get build-dep ghostscript

git clone git://git.ghostscript.com/ghostscript.git
cd ghostscript/gs

git show -s HEAD

If that reproduces the error, it could be reported at
http://bugs.ghostscript.com and I'd be glad to hear about it.

git bisect start
git bisect bad HEAD
git bisect good ghostscript-8.71

can guide through the bisection process afterwards to find the bad
patch (which is hopefully an underalignment problem or similar).

Any takers?
Jonathan

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for mediawiki-extensions (versioned as 2.3+nmu1) and
uploaded it to DELAYED/2. Please feel free to tell me if I

Bug#613648: ganeti2: Wrong permissions for /var/lock after gnt-node add

2011-02-16 Thread Ronny Lindner
Package: ganeti2
Version: 2.1.6-1
Severity: critical
Tags: patch upstream
Justification: breaks unrelated software

The command gnt-node add changes the permissions of /var/lock to d-wxrwS--t
(3661 octal, 1777 decimal!). Other programs are not able to create a lockfile
anymore. That was tested with logcheck, which did not work after adding a
ganeti node.

The fix is really simple: there are 3 occurences of 1777 in
/usr/sbin/ganeti-confd and /usr/sbin/ganeti-noded . They must be changed to
01777 .

Bug#613642: bus error in ps2pdf

 Hello,

 ocaml-melt currently FTBFS on sparc [1] because of a bus error
 provoked by ps2pdf. The bus error is easily reproduced by running
 ps2pdf on the file available at [2]. This bug is not present with the
 previous version, 8.71~dfsg2-10.

cond needs to be 8-byte aligned, but isn't.

From what I can tell the problem is this:
/* base/gpsync.h */
typedef struct {
void *dummy_;
} gp_semaphore;

/* base/gxsync.h */
typedef struct gx_semaphore_s {
gs_memory_t *memory;/* allocator to free memory */
gp_semaphore native;/* MUST BE LAST last since length is undef'd */
/*  platform-dep impl, len is gp_semaphore_sizeof() */
} gx_semaphore_t;

/* base/gp_psync.c */
typedef struct pt_semaphore_t {
int count;
pthread_mutex_t mutex;
pthread_cond_t cond;
} pt_semaphore_t;

gx_semaphore_alloc() allocates a 8-byte-aligned gx_semaphore_t, which
means that sema-native is *not* 8-byte-aligned (its offset is 4),
whereas alignof(pt_semaphore_t) == 8. The easiest fix is probably to
make sure gp_semaphore has maximal alignment.

Cheers,
Julien

The binary packages built for architectures other than i386 lack all
shared library dependencies. Compare for example:

openvpn)

http://packages.debian.org/sid/i386/openvpn-auth-radius (lists libc6 for

This is obviously wrong.

 and the final one is to get the default parser. The only way this can
 happen is if raptor wasn't initialised properly, which is my guess here. I
 suspect ardour is linking to raptor1 and raptor2, and thus crashing.

Absolutely. For the sake of documentation, I'm going to elaborate on
this here, so it's saved in the bug for future reference.

The situation is as follows:

   - ardour depends on liblrdf (mind the l after lib)
- liblrdf depends on libraptor1

   - ardour depends on libslv2
- libslv2 depends on librdf0 (no l this time)
  - librdf0 (= 1.0.13-1) depends on libraptor2

And there you have it, clashing symbols.

The solution is to add symbol versioning to both raptor libraries, then
recompile librdf, liblrdf and afterwards libslv2 (the whole dependency
chain backwards). In the end, recompile ardour.

For libslv2, we need to explicitly link against libraptor2, so the
symbols will be referenced with versions.

Symbol versioning for libraptor1 and libraptor2 is easy to achive,
simply add

   LDFLAGS += -Wl,--default-symver

to debian/rules in each package. I'll file separate bug reports against
those libs for documentation purpose.

See how then all depending libs require the versioned symbol:

Before:
adi@hex:~$ objdump -T /usr/lib/liblrdf.so.0 | grep raptor
  DF *UND*    raptor_free_parser
  DF *UND*    raptor_print_locator
  DF *UND*    raptor_parse_abort
[..]

After:
adi@hex:~$ objdump -T /usr/lib/liblrdf.so.0 | grep raptor
  DF *UND*    libraptor.so.1 raptor_free_parser
  DF *UND*    libraptor.so.1 raptor_finish
  DF *UND*    libraptor.so.1 raptor_parse_abort

Cheers

Bug#564576: Package completely fails to support IPv6

2011-02-16 Thread Scott Kitterman
I replied directly, rather than to the bug by mistake.

I will contact the maintainers of the two rdepends (spfmilter and whitelister)
to see if they will fix libspf0, port their packages to libspf2 (which does
support IPv6), or have them removed.

2011-02-16 Thread Scott Kitterman
Also, I think it does warrant RC severity due to dataloss potential, not due
to release goals. Wheezy will be released in 1.5 - 2 years and supported
until a year after Wheezy +1. That means 4 - 5 years. In that time frame I
think it's highly likely that incorrectly rejecting mail due to lack of IPv6
support (without even any warning that's why it's doing it) will result in
significant data loss.

 The command gnt-node add changes the permissions of /var/lock to
 d-wxrwS--t
 (3661 octal, 1777 decimal!). Other programs are not able to create a lockfile
 anymore. That was tested with logcheck, which did not work after adding a
 ganeti node.

 The fix is really simple: there are 3 occurences of 1777 in
 /usr/sbin/ganeti-confd and /usr/sbin/ganeti-noded . They must be changed to
 01777 .

Thanks for the fix. Will prepare a package and sent for stable update.

Bug#613676: installation-reports: Keyboard does not work in Gnome/X after upgrade to squeeze

2011-02-16 Thread Matyas A. Sustik
Package: installation-reports
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

(First bug report; please be kind...)
After doing apt-get dist-upgrade to squeeze I lost keyboard functionality under
X/Gnome.

Keyboard works during boot (setup, grub menu). If I stop gdm then keyboard
works on text screen.

Additional info:
This is a mythtv frontend machine. No mouse. I use the keyboard to drive the
mouse (when I rarely need it) using the numeric keypad. Interestingly that
still works! Pressing caps lock or num lock does not register though.

I have not changed hardware setup only did the OS/system upgrade.
I am not sure what information this reportbug program collected; please let me
know what else I should submit.

I tried to do my best with reportbug, but I am not sure that the picked
installation report is the best description. I could not pick better due to
lack of options. This is an upgrade, but I did not see such topic. Please let
me know if I need to refile and under what section.

Thanks!

Hi,

You're build depending on libqtwebkit-dev | libqt4-dev ( 4:4.7),
the buildd software will only consider libqtwebkit-dev and that's
not in unstable.

Bug#613572:

2011-02-16 Thread Jonathan Thomas
I think this is a Python 2.6 feature (i.e. the 'with' command), which is
used by our Vimeo upload feature. If you don't mind editing the .py file
that reported the error, let's try this and see what happens. Open up
the /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/openshot/uploads/vimeo/convenience.py
file, and just remove the entire def upload() method, which contains this
incompatible Python 2.6 code. Of course, this will break Vimeo uploading,
but I think OpenShot might launch correctly. If that does fix it, I'll need
to make some changes to this file in the source of OpenShot and release a
new version to fix this. Thanks!

Dear maintainer,

The Debian Qt/KDE team is planning to remove the KDE3 and Qt3 libraries from
Debian shortly after the Squeeze release. The transition phase to KDE4 and Qt4
will finish since both KDE and Nokia upstream don't maintain the old versions
of those libraries anymore.

In order to make this move, all packages directly or indirectly depending on
the KDE3/Qt3 libraries have to either get ported to KDE4/Qt4 or eventually get
removed from the Debian repositories.

Therefore, please take the time and:
- contact your upstream (if existing) and ask about the state of a KDE4/Qt4
port of your application
- if there are no activities regarding porting, investigate whether there are
suitable alternatives for your users
- if there is a KDE4/Qt4 port that is not yet packaged, consider packaging it
- if both the KDE3/Qt3 and the KDE4/Qt4 version already coexist in the Debian
archives, consider removing the KDE3/Qt3 version

Documentation on how to port to KDE4 can be found at:
http://techbase.kde.org/index.php?title=Development/Tutorials/KDE4_Porting_Guide

Documentation on how to port to Qt4 can be found at:

For any questions and issues, do not hesitate to contact the Debian Qt/KDE
team at debian-qt-...@lists.debian.org

Oh, I see.
Is there any way I can make a build-depends work with both qt 4.6 and 4.7,
i.e. libqtwebkit-dev exist only for 4.7, or will I have to change the build
depends anyway when 4.7 hit unstable?

Thanks,

I don't know about what exactly happened, but if the change from
4.6 to 4.7 means you need to build-depend on an other package,
then yes you'll have to change after 4.7 gets uploaded to
unstable.

Bug#613308: cppcheck: still FTBFS where char is unsigned by default

2011-02-16 Thread Sebastian Andrzej Siewior
found 613308 cppcheck/1.47-2
thanks

It still fails on arm, s390 and powerpc.
Would be it possible to define that char to signed in order to fix this?

Bug#613187: xs/SceneQuery.xs:28: error: cannot convert [..]

2011-02-16 Thread gregor herrmann
On Sun, 13 Feb 2011 08:51:23 -0500, Jonathan Yu wrote:

 The upstream changelog for libogre-perl (new version is 0.50) has:

 0.50 2010-12-14 | support Ogre = 1.7.2
 - dropping support for versions of Ogre before 1.7.2 (released 2010-11-03)
 - removed Readonly (optional) dependence (for one example)
 - ported to 1.7.2

 So perhaps this fix also makes Ogre work with libogre-dev = 1.7.1?

It seems to; at least it compiles and passes the test suite.

 At this point, it looks like Ogre may not support 1.7.1, and the new
 version doesn't support the existing libogre-dev (not tested by me yet
 though, just based on the changelog entry). A bit of a tricky
 situation indeed.

I've now patched Makefiel.PL to accept 1.7.1 as the minimal version.
Dominic has offered to test before we upload it.

Cheers,
gregor

While this version seems to be well playable, and has lots of new features
over the previous release, it was labeled pre-alpha by upstream, so I
don't think we should include it in the next debian release, yet.

This bug is meant to keep the pre-alpha in sid only, not in testing,
due to the upcoming release.

Squeeze has been released, so we can close this bug now.
Despite this being an unofficial checkout, it was even included by
Ubuntu in a release, and seems to be fairly stable and usable.
So I think we can let it enter testing now.

What do you expect the script to do?

You are using a (now-)invalid configuration file which you did not

Do you want the postinst script to ignore such a configuration error?

How about displaying a warning and not invoking the init script from postinst,

With lock_nolock option the corruption disappears.

But as I've said, I need locking active because I'm sharing the GFS2

Finally, I uncluster the GFS2 partitions and now I'm using EXT3 again in
manual active/pasive mode in the affected servers.

But I really want to get this bug away because when my other servers reach

 Description: installer for a set of 1600 free of charge maps for openoffice.org
  This is an empty package to wrap the installation of the non-free package
  Ooo.hg
  .
  Ooo.hg provides a wide set of free maps, to create easily any document
  for History and geography teachers, allthough it may also be used by
  other people. This lightweight package will download an archive, check its
  content, and install it in the right directory so the maps are immediately
  usable from the gallery of openoffice.org

The Recommends is wrong.

a) it's libreoffice, not libreoffice.org
b) the Recommends: openoffice.org just has *any* version of openoffice.org
allowed.
   Where it won't work as you just install the gallery files for libreoffice.
   Maybe you want to make it openoffice.org (= 3.3.0~)?
