The reason is that the package introduced new binary packages that needed to
go through the NEW queue. I will perform a source only upload to unstable
during the weekend. This is the recommended way of adding new binary
packages to unstable [1].

Bug#884352: Reassign to src:python-virtualenv, downgrading severity

2018-10-03 Thread Jan Dittberner
reassign 884352 src:python-virtualenv
severity 884352 normal
thanks

I agree with the conclusion of Nicholas D Steeves that this is not a bug in
virtualenvwrapper but a side effect of how virtualenv works. It explicitly
creates user specific Python virtual environments at places in the file
system that are not known to the package at install or update time.

A potential fix or advice for a workaround might be incorporated in the
virtualenv package itself.

I'm downgrading the severity of this bug because I do not see how this long
known behaviour is release critical.

Jan Dittberner

Django 1.8 comes with its own UUIDField implementation [1]. There is no need
for python-django-uuidfield anymore. I'll file a removal request.

In jessie, cracklib-check works, but the python binding looks totally broken.

The patch in debian/patches/libcrack2-error-safer-check-variant.patch seems
to be incompatible with the current upstream library code.

I'll see how to get it working again (and have better unit tests that
discover this problem at build time).

debug_toolbar doesn't work with the Django 1.6 version that is now included

so I think would allow XSS if someone used the script on a public-facing

It seems obsoleted by cssgen2.php, which does not need to accept user

So I suggest removing the cssgen.php file altogether. Thank you.

Thanks for this suggestion. I will prepare an upload that removes this file
from the examples directory and will ask the release team for a freeze

Bug#682735: questions regarding debian bug #682735

2012-07-26 Thread Jan Dittberner
Hello,

I would like to know more about the environment the error occurs in:

1.) is the package cracklib-runtime and some wordlist package installed?

2.) are the files /var/cache/cracklib/cracklib_dict.{hwm,pwd,pwi} available?

python-cracklib depends on cracklib-runtime and thus should have the necessary
files available. cracklib-runtime only recommends wamerican | wordlist so may
be you don't have a wordlist package installed if your apt configuration is
modified to not install recommends.

A bug fix to the upstream code would break the current API and can not be
introduced without changing reverse dependencies. I think this would be much
too late for Wheezy.

installing these then gives this failure:

Those build dependencies and the corresponding test are needed for the
ldaptor-webui part of ldaptor that is not supported anymore. Upstream
ceased support for the web ui long ago and I therefore dropped the
ldaptor-webui binary package in ldaptor 0.0.43+debian1-4. There is a
bug [1] tracking this change.

I did not run the tests in debian/rules intentionally due to the
broken twisted-web tests. It seems like some part of the build
infrastructure triggers the tests now.

I will disable the webui tests.

Bug#621134: ldaptor-webui is designed for an ancient twisted version

2011-04-06 Thread Jan Dittberner
ldaptor-webui was developed for an ancient twisted version. There is no newer
upstream version that is compatible with any recent twisted version.
ldaptor-webui has been removed from unstable/testing.

I don't have the time and the knowledge of twisted-web internals to port
ldaptor-webui to current twisted APIs.

Hello,

as written in #490235 [1] the package should Build-Depend on libcrack2-dev.
This package was introduced before the Lenny release. [1] contains a trivial
patch to fix this issue.

Bug#596375: pam-pgsql: upgrade from versions 0.7.1 with no pw_crypt set will break PAM setups

2010-09-10 Thread Jan Dittberner
Package: pam-pgsql
Version: upgrade from versions before 0.7.1 will break installations where
pw_type is not explicitly set
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Nirgal Vourgère brought to my attention that the default password type in
pam-pgsql was changed from clear to sha1 between the version in Lenny
(0.6.3) and the current version (0.7.1). This change will break the PAM setup
for Lenny users who use pam-pgsql but have no pw_type defined in their
/etc/pam_pgsql.conf.

Because a PAM module might break unrelated software I set the severity of this
bug to critical.

Subject: Re: Patch for pam-pgsql to support postgres users
Organization: Greenpeace

If you need a reason to upload a new version, you might want to add a postinst
script that will add
pw_type = clear
to any existing /etc/pam_pgsql.conf file that does not already contain a line
starting with pw_type, when upgrading from an old version. Default algorithm
is now sha1, and *this will break upgrades to squeeze*.

Attached is a proposal postinst script. I'm not using these very often, you'd
better triple check my code.

I really don't know which was the first version that changed default hash
algorithm. You'll have to change that. My example assume this is version 0.7.1.

This can be checked in the sources, file src/pam_pgsql_options.c, line 161:
modopt-pw_type = PW_SHA1

In version 0.6.3-2, file pam_pgsql.c, line 195:
opts-pw_type = PW_CLEAR;

Bug#583097: dropping support for non amd64/i386 architectures

2010-05-28 Thread Jan Dittberner
severity 583097 normal
severity 583305 normal

As I wrote in the explaination for #583623 I see no short term solution to
support architectures other than amd64 and i386. I set the Architecture field
to amd64 i386 and filed #583623 to change the Packages-arch-specific entry.

I downgrade the severity of this bug and will file removal request for
previously built binary packages for non amd64/i386 architectures.

I unblock this bug because I could not reproduce the sigbus with the patches in
git [1], [2] producing more gcj friendly Java code.

configure.in:22: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_PROG_SYSCONFTOOL

sysconftool which provides the necessary sysconftool.m4 is not yet
packaged for Debian there was an ITP
(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=330302) which never
resulted in a package.

I will reopen the ITP and package sysconftool.

Bug#559443: dosbox: ymf262{c,h} lack licence statements

2009-12-04 Thread Jan Dittberner
I had a discussion with upstream these days. The mentioned files will be
removed from the next upstream release 0.74 because the whole OPL emulation
code has been rewritten.

Bug#530824: dosbox 0.73 builds and works without fmopl

2009-11-29 Thread Jan Dittberner
I just built dosbox-0.73 with src/hardware/fmopl.c and src/hardware/fmopl.h
removed (+ some removed patches as done by the current Ubuntu version) and the
build worked well. I tried whether dosbox still works and had no problems with
some older DOS games using OPL.

I added a request to remove the fmopl files to the upstream bugtracker at
SourceForge.

Bug#530824: upstream version 0.73 contains a new OPL implementation

2009-11-28 Thread Jan Dittberner
Hello,

upstream version 0.73 contains a new GPL licensed OPL2/OPL3 implementation [1]
in src/hardware/opl.cpp. Unfortunatelly src/hardware/fmopl.c is still included.

[1]
http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=685514group_id=52551

I will try whether building with fmopl.c removed is still possible.

Bug#542889: nvidia-glx: bug is fixed in 185.18.36

2009-08-22 Thread Jan Dittberner
Package: nvidia-glx
Severity: normal

tag 542889 + patch fixed-upstream
thanks

I had the same issue with 185.18.31 on an AMD64 (Lenovo Thinkpad T61p
with nVidia Quadro FX 570). An updated package with version 185.18.36
fixed the problem.

The attached patch + files from NVIDIA could be used as a base for
packaging 185.18.36.

Bug#510782: python-antlr available

Hello,

a new binary package python-antlr is available since antlr-2.7.7-10 (uploaded
yesterday). python-xlwt will use this package to avoid pulling the giant java
dependency tree of antlr.

I suggest that we do the same for pyexcelerator. I hope that the new antlr will
be unblocked.

Bug#490236: pam: FTBFS with new cracklib2 (= 2.8.12-1)

2008-07-10 Thread Jan Dittberner
Package: pam
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Justification: no longer builds from source

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

The new cracklib2 package containing a new upstream release doesn't
provide the symbol CRACKLIB_DICTPATH anymore. The attached patch
removes -DCRACKLIB_DICTS=CRACKLIB_DICTPATH from debian/rules and
changes Build-Depends to the new libcrack2-dev (= 2.8) instead of
cracklib2-dev (= 2.7-9).

The patch applies cleanly against pam packaging's svn r711.

Bug#464413: python-migrate: migrate doesn't work with sqlalchemy in testing and unstable

2008-02-06 Thread Jan Dittberner
Package: python-migrate
Version: 0.2.2-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The migrate version 0.2.2 stopped working at the release of sqlalchemy
0.3.10. There is some ongoing effort to make it work again. Support for
sqlalchemy = 0.3.10 and 0.4 is restored at the new project page

http://code.google.com/p/sqlalchemy-migrate/

work on 0.4 support is not finished.

If lenny should include python-migrate the 0.3 release could be
packaged to support python-sqlalchemy 0.3.10 (currently in lenny). If
there is a clear indication that sqlalchemy 0.4 will be included in
lenny there is more upstream work required.

Since I'm a maintainer of the upstream project too, I'll try to fix the
remaining issues. If anybody has the time to work on the issues, you're
welcome to join the upstream project.

I'll package a new release as soon as I've some free time.
