[Bug 108616] Re: Some keys don't work in gedit with "France" keyboard layout

2007-05-25 Thread Nicolas Bros
The output of "gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd" is :
 layouts = [fr  oss,fr,us,epo]
 model =
 options = [grp grp:ctrls_toggle]
 overrideSettings = true

Is it normal that the keyboard model "fr oss" has a tabulation in its name?
(ASCII character 0x09, I checked with "hd")
That seems weird to me.

I played with the settings and I discovered than when I check the box "Both Alt
keys together change group." then the problem disappears!
That is with the following configuration:
 layouts = [fr  oss,fr,us,epo]
 model =
 options = [grp grp:alts_toggle,grp grp:ctrls_toggle]
 overrideSettings = true

[Bug 116957] Epiphany auto-reload does not preserve scroll position

2007-05-25 Thread Phil Sung
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

Steps to reproduce:
1. In Epiphany, open a local HTML file which doesn't fit on one screen. Scroll
down.
2. Modify the HTML file in an editor. (Epiphany auto-reloads the page.)

What happens:
Epiphany scrolls the page back up to the top.

Expected:
The scroll position should be preserved, just like it is when I press "Reload"
in Epiphany or Firefox.

Version:
This appears in Epiphany 2.18.1 (Feisty).

[Bug 95368] Re: (feisty) unmounting a device icon on desktop gives an error dialog

2007-05-25 Thread swork
Looks to me like UTF-8 in a volume name trips things up. iPods get
named things like "Steve's iPod" by default, where the apostrophe is
somewhere up in Unicode space. I got a three-number \nnn\nnn\nnn
sequence in .hal-mtab in place of the apostrophe, and saw this problem.
When I wiped .hal-mtab, rebooted (maybe unnecessary, I'm new to Ubuntu
and didn't know how to restart gnome-volume-manager) and renamed the
iPod (using a Mac) to an all-ASCII name this problem went away for me.

Check the encoding and decoding of the mountpoint pathname in .hal-mtab.

[Bug 116936] "Clear Recent Documents" does not affect "Eye of GNOME"

2007-05-25 Thread vanQ
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

"Clear Recent Documents" does not affect "Eye of GNOME".
In the "Places"-menu you can find "Recent Documents" and under that you can
find "Clear Recent Documents".
It says it deletes all application history, yet Eye of the GNOME remains
untouched, although it is shipped with the distribution I have (Ubuntu 7.04
64-bit). I love your OS btw! Is there any way to make Ubuntu not keep track of
history at all? I mean window-browsing and application history. Would turn both
off.

So the "saved-sessions.xml" file shows up in "~/.gnome2/gedit"

And although it works now there's still an error-message in the terminal:

[Bug 116912] Free Space on Phone's SD Card Incorrect in Nautilus

2007-05-25 Thread Brian Simons
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-vfs-obexftp

When I view my phone in nautilus using obex://, I can acces the phone's
filesystem fine, including the 2 GB SD in it. My phone has about 5 MB
free, the SD card is nearly empty. gnome-vfs-obexftp is only reporting
the free space in the phone's memory; it does not recognize that the
folder that represents the SD card can have a different amount of free
space than the phone itself.

The upshot is that I can only copy files over in chunks that are smaller
than the amount of free space on the phone.

It seems like this should be reproducible by
- setting up a phone with a micro SD card to work with blutooth
- browsing to the phone in nautilus using obex://
- Checking the free space that nautilus reports
- Navigating to the folder that contains the SD card data
- Verify that the phone memory free space is still being reported, not the SD
card free space

I am using gnome-vfs-obexftp 0.2-0ubuntu1 on Feisty.

[Bug 19524] Re: Firefox does not pay attention to GNOME DPI setting

2007-05-25 Thread V. Beaudoin
It looks like this bug has reverted with Feisty's Firefox (2.0.0.1
+0dfsg-0ubuntu2). Increasing the DPI in gnome-font-preferences (from 130
to 160, down to or 120) affects the UI's fonts, but not the webpage
fonts.

This is still true as of today. I didn't know about this bug report so I
created another one a few minutes ago:

Maybe the problem is in firefox-gnome-support?

[Bug 116902] [feisty] gnome/nautilus doesn't allow sshfs mount icon 'eject' / 'delete'

lns ...not being able to remove an accidentally mounted ssh volume icon from
the desktop...

ogra-classmate yeah, the ssh volum4e is a deswign problem
ogra-classmate well, its a feature
ogra-classmate using local devices doesnt need an eject option, so that is
disabled globally in the gui for all users on thin clients automatically
ogra-classmate indeed that brings probs if you have something like sshfs volumes

lns so it sees sshfs volumes as local devices?

ogra-classmate no, because you use a thin client eject is globally disabled
ogra-classmate we're working on an implementation that uses virtual hal devices
for gutsy

vagrantc lns: are you actually using sshfs, or LTSP's local devices
support?

ogra-classmate there is will be possible to specify unmounting functionallity
per device and that prob should be solved
ogra-classmate vagrantc: i assumed sshfs

* vagrantc makes no assumptions when troubleshooting or bug reporting

lns vagrantc, to tell you the truth i'm not sure - the principal at the
school accidentally mounted an ssh volume from a client and couldn't
'unmount/eject/move to trash'

lns it was sshfs

vagrantc ok.

lns at least that's what the icon said (ssh)

ogra-classmate likely from the network servers dialog in gnome

lns ogra-classmate, yes
lns when he tried to drag to trash it said permission denied or similar

ogra-classmate you can tell him its a design bug we're aware of and are
working on to solve it ;)

lns ogra-classmate, yes i will for sure.

ogra-classmate but dont hesitate to file it please, my brain is a sieve
sometimes, having reminder bugs helps a lot :)

[Bug 116665] Re: Slide show do not work from command line with parameter --fullscreen

2007-05-25 Thread Michael Chudobiak
No, that is incorrect.

For example, select three images in the gThumb browser view.

Click the "Fullscreen" button. This displays the first selected image
ONLY, in fullscreen view. There is no slideshow. The other two images
are not shown.

Then return to the browser (by pressing escape) and try the Slideshow
button. It shows a fullscreen slideshow (more than one image).

Fullscreen = one image
Slideshow = many images

Mike,

OK, but in manual (Ubuntu FF) is

[Bug 116665] Re: Slide show do not work from command line with parameter --fullscreen

2007-05-25 Thread Michael Chudobiak
This isn't a bug...

fullscreen and slideshow modes are two different modes. You can't do
them at the same time.

fullscreen = fullscreen view of a single image
slideshow = fullscreen slideshow of multiple images

Hi,

I use ubuntu 7,04 and the problem occurs when 3d qualifies the interface that
uses compisys to manage the windows.

Also I`ve installed Beryl and with other window managers the problem occurs.

Obs. The same problem occurs with another distribution (Kurumin Linux when used
with Beryl)

[Bug 27014] Re: evolution bug, "Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync"

2007-05-25 Thread scarolan
This really is a deal-breaker. I can't have my mail client locking up
like this several times a day. Given the age of the bug I'm surprised
no one has been able to fix it. Can you just borrow some working code
from the Mozilla Thunderbird team? (I kid, I kid . . . )

I'm running Ubuntu Feisty 7.04 on an IBM Thinkpad T41:

1. Download mail into local mbox spool, /var/spool/mail/username
2. Attempt to open mail with Evolution
3. Get several duplicate messages and error box
4. Restart evolution and cross fingers hoping it will resolve itself
5. Lather, rinse, repeat

If someone can tell me what error/debug/log files you need to
troubleshoot I will be happy to post them for you.

[Bug 116853] GIMP open dialog doesn't work in Ion3

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gimp

GNU Image Manipulation Program version 2.3.16

The open menu opens as a dialog and not as a window. In Ion3 this causes

[Bug 26338] Re: Adding a user to a group modifies other users' groups and passwords

2007-05-25 Thread Claudio Torcato
Andrew Ash, this bug is a problem, still.

I use Ubuntu 7.04. I created new user (System -> Administration -> Users
and Groups) and later my own user lost administrative power. I will
reinstall the SO, but I should notified us.

[Bug 39127] Re: Does not cooperate with unrar-free

2007-05-25 Thread Bogdan Butnaru
I've just tried opening a random rar I've got from the net. It works
with unrar and rar-nonfree, but not with only rar-free. However, it may
have been just an unsupported version of file.
