[Bug 1786999] [NEW] bluetooth coupling is only possible in certain combinations
Public bug reported: Initializing a bluetooth coupling on an Android device causes a notification to be displayed in gnome-shell which doesn't display the "confirm" or ~"ignore" buttons. When clicking on the notification (which seems the only intuitive way to make the buttons visible) the notification disappears and apparently selects to ignore the requests implicitly. [Bug 1739699] [NEW] opening a large number of videos with vlc causes delay and unresponsive vlc
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: 1. download a free MPlayer test file, like http://samples.mplayerhq.hu/MPEG-4/video.mp4 and move it into /tmp/a or similar 2. replicate it by running (requires a few GB of free space depending on the deduplication facilities of your filesystem) ``` import shutil for i in range(0,1000): shutil.copy("/tmp/a/video.mp4", "/tmp/a/video-%d.mp4" % (i,)) ``` 3. open /tmp/a in nautilus, select all files and open them with VLC media player through the context menu Instead of putting all files in the VLC queue like Ubuntu 17.04's nautilus did, an ~"opening in progress" dialog is opened blocking the UI for almost a minute while consuming 100% of all CPU cores. If the above is done during high memory consumption of another process hundreds of VLC processes are started and the display manager crashes (but that's another issues). [Bug 1681956] [NEW] gnome-user-share no longer provides gnome-user-share script
Public bug reported: Since users still have to get Bluetooth running manually following http://askubuntu.com/questions/131570/how-do-you-make-ubuntu-accept- files-sent-over-bluetooth because https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-user-share/+bug/1406108 is still not fixed[1] there's need for the `gnome-user-share` script (usually `/usr/lib/gnome-user-share/gnome-user-share`). [Bug 1545272] [NEW] reboot fails with "Failed to start reboot.target: Transaction is destructive."
Public bug reported: `sudo reboot` fails with Failed to start reboot.target: Transaction is destructive. Broadcast message from richter@richter-lenovo-IdeaPad-U410 on pts/1 (Sa 2016-02-13 13:36:30 CET): The system is going down for reboot NOW! which seems to be caused by an incomplete suspend as stated in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1441253 which isn't a duplicate because the reason seem to be a btrfs issue there which I don't suffer from. I'd suggest to let the suspend time out, provide the user with the information that a suspend is pending and might timeout or succeed (or something similar, more useful than "Failed to start reboot.target: Transaction is destructive.") so that reboot is possible again after some time. The issue should be fixed in the kernel as well, it makes sense as well to handle this situation in `systemd` because assuming that the kernel is always stable is naive and adding such a timeout improves stability and better feedback usage. [Bug 1467943] Re: system shutdown hangs if btrfs on file image (mounted via cifs) is mounted
I can only reach the `systemd` debug shell randomly, i.e. the system freezes either before I can press Ctrl+Alt+F9, right after it so that I can't run `journalctl -ab > /root/journal.txt` or right after running the command so that data isn't written to `/root/journal.txt` because the system can apparently only be rebooted with Ctrl+Alt+SysRq+b so that the data is never written to the filesystem (btrfs). After 5 failures at different states I couldn't recognize any pattern which causes the freeze. The start of debugging shell works consistently well if the btrfs image isn't mounted. ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1467943 Title: system shutdown hangs if btrfs on file image (mounted via cifs) is mounted To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1467943/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1467187] [NEW] allow usage of multicore implementations of compression tools

[Bug 1458491] [NEW] indicator-bluetooth misses controls to enable file transfer
Public bug reported: The default settings of `indicator-bluetooth` make file transfers fail without feedback (not too great, but not the issue here). [Bug 1448656] Re: systemd doesn't allow proper shutdown after it encountered errornous .service
I can't reproduce this. I produces the errornous service by adding a shell variable declaration to the .service file e.g. [Unit] Description=A service triggering an error X=Y env X=Y [Service] Environment=A=B ExecStart=echo $A [Install] WantedBy=multi-user.target I could trigger the failure by moving the file out of `/lib/systemd/system` (to `/root`) and back, but I no longer have the file. The failure seems to have occured due to the root filesystem being corrupted by a failing `flashcache` write-back and the fact that I could suppress the issue and recreate it (only once) a random correlation. I no longer have the original file, but I'm sure it was correct besides the variable declaration. ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1448656 Title: systemd doesn't allow proper shutdown after it encountered errornous .service To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1448656/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1448656] [NEW] systemd doesn't allow proper shutdown after it encountered errornous .service
Public bug reported: Assume you have created a `.service` unit file in `/lib/systemd/system/` with a syntax error and reboot. At system start the start of the unit fails, but then the system/`systemd` no longer responds to Ctrl+Alt+Del and the system needs to be killed by pulling the plug. That can corrupt the system because services which on shutdown hook, like a write-back cache which needs to write data back to disks before the machine is turned of, aren't executed. It'd be better if the errornous service/unit would be skipped, a rescue shell provided or at least a possibility to shutdown properly given. [Bug 1439704] [NEW] increase default scrollback limit
Public bug reported: There's a really high change that (verbose) commands exceed 8192 lines out output and a very small chance that a high multiple (e.g. 8192*8192=67108864) causes any disadvantage. I think that setting a limit is already problematic - imagine running `btrfs check` for some hours and figuring out that most of you output is lost (might even be a problem with a scrollback limit of 67108864). Even a `~/.bash_history` of 50 MB shouldn't be a problem regarding average HDD size, btrfs compression and the ability to set `HISTSIZE` and `HISTFILESIZE`. [Bug 1437742] Re: gnome-terminal never returns after heavy load btrfs operations (defragment, balance, etc.)
Thanks for you feedback. I guess, I could get it up to once a week (using an overful btrfs root system on which the btrfs command cause a very high load) ;) . [Bug 1437742] [NEW] gnome-terminal never returns after heavy load btrfs operations (defragment, balance, etc.)
Public bug reported: Running `btrfs` commands which cause heavy system load (e.g. `btrfs filesystem defragment`, `btrfs balance`, etc.) in `gnome-terminal` causes the terminal never to return and use one CPU core at 100 % forever. There's no connection to the system load because interrupting that command (e.g. `btrfs filesystem defragment` with `SIGSTOP`) don't make `gnome-terminal` return, but keep hanging forever. [Bug 1435796] [NEW] save file dialogs fail after entering a folder name when permission to create is denied
Public bug reported: When the user doesn't have enough permissions to create a folder in a directory the creation fails after he_she enters a possibly long and sophisticated name, which has no advantage over making the creation fail right after the "Create folder" button has been pressed and permissions checked to be insufficient. [Bug 1432266] [NEW] Allow refreshing folder content by clicking on the folder button in the path after something has been mounted under that folder
Public bug reported: Currently it is necessary to open another folder (e.g. the parent directory by clicking on the button to the left in the path) or refresh explicitly after the mount took place. After mounting e.g. on the command line a user might expect the folder content to be reloaded when clicking on the folder button on the path and there's no reason to match that expectation. Example: 1. go to /path/to/folder (path buttons are `path` `to` `folder`) 2. `mount /some/thing /path/to/folder` 3. click on the path button `folder` -> nothing happens (refresh or clicking path buttons `to` and `folder` is necessary) The result for 3. should be: 3. click on the path button `folder` which triggers refresh for directory content because a mount point has been added whose target matches `/path/to/folder` ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.10 Package: nautilus 1:3.10.1-0ubuntu15.1 Uname: Linux 3.19.1-031901-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.14.7-0ubuntu8.2 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sun Mar 15 00:29:35 2015 EcryptfsInUse: Yes GsettingsChanges: b'org.gnome.nautilus.list-view' b'default-column-order' b"['name', 'size', 'type', 'date_modified', 'date_accessed', 'owner', 'group', 'permissions', 'mime_type', 'where']" InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-01-26 (46 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.10 "Utopic Unicorn" - Release amd64 (20141022.1) ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: nautilus UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug third-party-packages utopic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1432266 Title: Allow refreshing folder content by clicking on the folder button in the path after something has been mounted under that folder To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1432266/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1431979] [NEW] gdm reveals the last screen right before locking screen after screen turned black
Public bug reported: After my screen is turned off due to inactivity and I return to the PC (after the screen has been turned off for some time) and move the mouse the login screen (for locked session) is displayed, but not immediately - the last visible screen before I left the PC is visible for some instants (can be up to several seconds if the system is under load) and reveals what should be protected by session locking. `lightdm` does the job better by showing the session lock screen immediately.
