I solved the problem for me by doing as root the following: (Before you do this, make sure you have the two package files or similar versions of these package files in /var/cache/apt/archives !) dpkg --ignore-depends=tex-common --purge tex-common dpkg --ignore-depends=texlive-base --purge texlive-base dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/tex-common_4.04_all.deb dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/texlive-base_2013.20140215-1_all.deb Just purging and installing tex-common did not work. Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.
I think what is broken is just the program to configure these shortcuts. Why? Because using workarounds I can configure my X to switch among layouts when I press ALT+SHIFT. In my setup at least there is no inherent limitation about the ability of using these special keys for switching. To give an example of such a workaround in my Gnome Classic Flashback (Metacity): * If I right-click on the indicator icon, select "Text Entry Settings..." then I will get a dialog window where I can define just shortcuts for "Switch to next source using..." and "Switch to previous source using..." and in this dialog box I CAN configure ALT+SHIFT. When I close the dialog afterwards it works just fine, consistently, I can switch. * In the "system settings" -> "keyboard" -> "shortcuts" dialog I can even see ALT+SHIFT there, however if I delete this shortcut there is no way to get it back in that dialog because it will not detect the key. I can always set the shortcut using "Text Entry Settings". Perhaps the problem is so trivial just for the case of Gnome Classic Flashback (Metacity). But in Gnome Classic Flashback (Metacity) in my opinion the only problem is the GUI in the system settings, and the problem is that it does not detect the keypress. The dialog even displays this shortcut correctly if it has been set using another tool, so the shortcut storage and representation is working, just key press detection for setting the shortcut is broken. Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1304351] Re: firefox 200% CPU usage while idle/shutdown: mpegaudioparse0 and mpegaudioparse1 processes
After deinstalling gstreamer plugins and totem-mozilla plugin and disabling gstreamer setting in firefox the problem disappeared. I then step-by-step reactivated these packages except for the totem-mozilla plugin. The bug did not appear again. I will now install totem-mozilla and see what happens. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 704123] Re: PIN is asked despite it's configured into the system connection
I have the same issue, connection is stored in /etc/NetworkManager /systems-connections/ the connection is available to all users, pin is set. If the device is recognized at bootup time the connection is established without asking the pin. If I disconnect the device and connect it again, the device is always recognized, then the pin is asked, but if I cancel the dialog the connection is established anyways. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/704123 Title: PIN is asked despite it's configured into the system connection Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Binary package hint: network-manager I've configured a system-wide 3g broadband connection. In fact it's there a file with all the provided details in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ . If I switch (log-out + log-in) to a non-administrative user, as soon as I plug the USB 3G modem I get asked the modem PIN. This is included into the mentioned file. The objective is to allow a "normal" user to connect with the modem with out the knowledge of username, password and PIN. The defails follow. $ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 10.10 Release: 10.10 Codename: maverick How to reproduce the bug: 1. Log in as an administrative user (the first one you create at installation time) 2. Plug the USB 3G modem into a port 3. Go to System-->Preferences-->Newtwork Connections-->Mobile Broadband 4. Fill all the needed details (as well as the PIN) 5. Check "Automatically connect" and "Available to all users" 6. Test the connection is working. 7. Check the file in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ 8. Reboot (maybe just logout and long is enough) 9. Log in as the administrative user 10. Plug the USB modem What happens The system asks for the PIN. You can ignore this request. Then you can go to the netowrk icon and select the broadband connection and click it. This time the PIN is not required and the connection fires up. What is expected to happen No PIN is required at the modem insertion and the connection fires up automatically. Extra steps. 11. Create another non administrative user which is capable to connect through modems (groups dialout and dip). 12. Switch to this new user 13. Plug the USB modem. What happens The system asks for aìthe PIN. You cannot ignore this request.
