This bug was fixed in the package brltty - 5.6-4ubuntu1 --- brltty (5.6-4ubuntu1) cosmic; urgency=low * Merge from Debian Sid (LP: #1776808). Debian builds are tested by blind people so I assume the Samuel's patches work correctly. I'm already using Debian 5.6-4 on my Debian machine without issues.
