Re: [Dev] [DAS] Aggregated feature for DAS capabilities

2015-09-07 Thread Sumedha Rubasinghe
DAS combines many things. So getting everything into a single feature could
be complicated.
Shall we try to redefine what we need @ the CDMF level and then try to get
them from DAS side.

This effort is needed by many other teams like API Manager, App Manager. So
please get all those teams to agree on the feature list.

For example some of the features we may require could include:
- Event Listener (Receiver)
- Data Storage
- CEP Engine
- Summarisation

[Dev] Rampart upgrade in carbon-identity 4.5.6 cause issues in product-as

2015-09-07 Thread KasunG Gajasinghe
Hi IS/Jaggery team,

We have tried to use latest carbon-identity, but this lead to an issue in
AS. The product startup failed. Upon further inspection, it seems like the
rampart bundle state is INSTALLED. The error is at [1]. It seems the error
is because of having two wss4j bundles.

The wss4j 1.5.11.wso2v11 is coming from security mgt feature while the
org.jaggeryjs.modules.ws ships wss4j 1.5.11.wso2v9.

@Manu, Jaggery team, can we stop packing wss4j and rampart bundles from
jaggery-extensions? This is coming from [2].

@IS team, Is it possible to broaden the Import-Package version range? The
current range ,[1.5.11.wso2v11,2.0.0), forces everyone to be on
1.5.11.wso2v11 or later.

[Dev] [DAS] Aggregated feature for DAS capabilities

2015-09-07 Thread Ayyoob Hamza
Hi all,
We are planing to have DAS capabilities within the IoT-Server and EMM. And
our main idea is to be able to use DAS as an internal entity within the
IoT-Server/EMM or an external entity(ie. IoT server without analytics) by
switching through profiles. So wanted to know whether there is an
aggregated feature that does the task of providing DAS capabilities. if
there isn't any aggregated feature would it be feasible to create one ?.

Thanks,

have missed to update jaggery-extensions repo.

[Dev] [Devs] [Private PaaS] OpenStack Installation Guide is not up to date

2015-09-07 Thread Imesh Gunaratne
Hi Devs,

As I see Private PaaS 4.1.0 OpenStack Installation guide [1] is not up to
date:

   - Pre-requisites are not properly listed at the correct points rather we
have listed all the pre-requisites in one page. This is misleading users
may install all the pre-requisites in one machine.
   - MQTT configuration is not used, need to remove this.
   - Puppet master setup is not up to date. Now we should be able to run
with zero configurations in puppet master.
   - We do not need to ask the user to build from source during the
installation rather they can use the binary.
   - It would be better to add screen shots at different stages to make the
   process much clear.

 Hi Niranda,

As far as I can remember this is coming due to a db collation issue.

You can fix it by changing Collation from UTF-8 to latin.

 ex :
 create database  character set latin1;

[Dev] [Throttling] Moving throttle.core out from Synapse

2015-09-07 Thread Amila De Silva
Hi All,

One of the changes done while moving to Git was, moving source code which
was under org.wso2.carbon.throttle.core to wso2-synapse. Throttle core is
used by both ESB (in Throttle mediator) and by API Manager (in
APIThrottleHandler - to keep track of the number of API calls made over the
cluster). At the time throttle core was moved, it was depending on Axis2
only, making it possible to move the source code to wso2-synapse - which is
not depending on any carbon components.

While doing several improvements on throttling, Hazelcast AtomicLongs were
used for keeping cluster-wide counts, which now creates a coupling between
Hazelcast and Throttle Core. If these changes are to be merged with
synapse, we would have to add a dependency to Hazelcast.

The other option is to move Throttle Core into carbon-mediation. Since this
already depends on several carbon components adding Hazelcast as a
dependancy won't be an issue.

[Dev] [Carbon] mysql dbscripts using values > 255 for varchar for unique keys

2015-09-07 Thread Niranda Perera
Hi all,

I came across with the following issue while running the mysql script.

23:41:09 CREATE INDEX REG_PATH_IND_BY_PATH_VALUE USING HASH ON
REG_PATH(REG_PATH_VALUE, REG_TENANT_ID) Error Code: 1071. Specified key was
too long; max key length is 767 bytes 0.078 sec

pls refer the mail thread [1]

it turns out that this happens when you use varchar(255<) values and innodb
does not support it for unique keys. for an example query in carbon4-kernel
master is [2]

as mentioned in the thread [1] we need to fix this kernel wide, hence would
like to draw your attention to this.

cheers

[Dev] [Private PaaS] API Manager template module seems be messed up

2015-09-07 Thread Rajkumar Rajaratnam
Hi,

I think API Manager's master-datasources.xml.template is messed up. For
example, same db username/password parameter is used for all the databases
and jdbc/WSO2REG_DB is defined twice with two different if-checks, why?

Please check and fix [1]. Please check other modules also.

[Dev] [DAS] Unable to add external jars to Spark class path in DAS cluster

2015-09-07 Thread Maheshakya Wijewardena
Hi,

I have tried to submit ML app as an external app to Spark cluster of DAS.
DAS was started without initializing CarbonAnalytics Spark context. Class
paths of additional jars of ML have been tried to add to class path of DAS
Spark cluster by setting *spark.executor.extraClassPath* and
*spark.driver.extraClassPath* from the ML app. But this fails with the
following error continuously showing in all executors in Spark cluster:

*Error: Could not find or load main class
org.apache.spark.executor.CoarseGrainedExecutorBackend*

It's not possible to add those jars from DAS side either.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Best regards.

Re: [Dev] [Private PaaS] API Manager template module seems be messed up

2015-09-07 Thread Reka Thirunavukkarasu
Hi Raj,

Yah..Seems some old reference is there in the
master-datasources.xml.template which will not affect the configurations,
if the parameters are defined correctly in the cartridge definition. Please
ignore the section with CONFIG_PARAM_CONFIG_DB_APIM_URL.

Please refer [1] for the sample configuration. We will clean this in the
immediate next release(beta)..

[Dev] cronExpression versus client.retry.interval in MessageProcessor

2015-09-07 Thread John Hawkins
Hi Folks,

am I correct in saying that, in a MessageProcessor, a *cronExpression* and
a *client.retry.interval *affect the same thing i.e. when a message gets
retried in case of a failure to send?
If I'm correct then, if I set both which gets precedence? (I'm assuming
cron - but I can't see it documented anywhere.)?

thanks for your help!
John.

Re: [Dev] cronExpression versus client.retry.interval in MessageProcessor

2015-09-07 Thread Yasassri Ratnayake
Hi John,

As per my observation the cron expression is equal to message forward
interval. So in this case the cron expression should take the preceding
over message processing interval.

[Dev] [Integration Tests] What is the advantage of Exception being thrown in test methods instead of the specific subclass of it?

2015-09-07 Thread Manuri Amaya Perera
Hi,

I got to know it is recommended to throw Exception in test methods instead
of the specific sub class of it. But generally in methods the good practice
is to throw the exception of the specific sub class.

I'd like to know $subject.

Re: [Dev] [Integration Tests] What is the advantage of Exception being thrown in test methods instead of the specific subclass of it?

2015-09-07 Thread Nuwan Wimalasekara
Hi Manuri,

Even if we throws the sub classes in test methods , no one will handle
those exception explicitly. It is handled by TestNg and TestsNg marked them
error when exception is thrown from a test method and we can see the actual
exception class in test reports. Throwing super class also make sure that
the test method will not be broken even exception classes is changed in the
method which are used in test methods.

Please refer the mail thread "Best Practice in Throwing Exceptions in test
methods signature"@dev

Thanks,
Nuwanw

We have to isolate one of the failing methods and check directly invoking

[Dev] Clarifications on CEP

2015-09-07 Thread Shavantha Weerasinghe
Hi All

Appreciate if I can get a clarification on the two below points.

1.Is there a way we can configure for the cep admin to gain access to the
analytic dashboard without entering the login again if he has logged into
the management console.

2. When we are accepting events from multiple sources (ex: soap/http) into
a single stream there may be a need to stop receiving events into a
specific events receiver. Is there away we can disable an event receiver
without deleting it. The same could apply to event publishers as well

 Hi all,

I'm testing DAS 3.0.0 in the windows env (windows 8.1 & java 1.8.0)
 with MySQL as the carbon_db.

I tried, executing the mysql setup dbscript and I get the following
 error

23:41:09 CREATE INDEX REG_PATH_IND_BY_PATH_VALUE USING HASH ON
 REG_PATH(REG_PATH_VALUE, REG_TENANT_ID) Error Code: 1071. Specified
key was too long; max key length is 767 bytes 0.078 sec

this error has already been reported [1] and when I check the script
also, it mentions this CARBON JIRA.

however, this error does not occur in the linux (ubuntu) env.

would like to know how to proceed with this?
