Hi,

You can try the work done by Alsroot:

is based on Ubuntu server.

 Hi,

Like others, I'm interested in moving the XS to a newer OS base. My
key motivation for this is that the Foundation Zamora Teran (OLPC
Nicaragua) is having difficulty buying servers for new schools being
added to the project - Fedora 9 is too old to support this hardware.

For the next XS release, Martin suggests that CentOS 6.2 (or another
RHEL equivalent) is used as a base. As my contribution here will
likely be limited to just this rebase, I'm prepared to accept that
 preference.

However, having installed/run CentOS 6.2 for the first time I now have
my doubts about this. I installed it on a server where the network
interface does not appear with F9 (but does work with more recent
Fedora). With CentOS, the same problem as F9 is presented: no network
 adapter.

Digging further, I see that support was added to the Linux kernel for
this particular network adapter (Atheros AR8152) on February 16th,
2010. However, since CentOS 6.2 uses a kernel from 2009, it does not
support this hardware. This seems excessively old for a distro that
was released in December 2011, and I imagine that we will see many
such problems if we run with this.

With this in mind, is there still a strong preference to go with
CentOS, or would a more recent Fedora (e.g. 16/17?) be a better
 choice?

 Thanks,
 Daniel

 Hi Daniel,
Moving to CentOS or some enterprise Linux makes sense for rebasing XS on
but given the limitations with hardware compatibility, this might be a
blocker. New hardware are being used at deployments so probably we might
have to stick with newer versions of Fedora.

Reuben,

How are you, we need the keyjector. 353 XO 1.5 Hs cannot be delivered to
their owners until we put our custom build in it. Can you help or point to
whom should I write to?

 Reuben,

The xo 1.5 does have our keys, we tested the 353 1.5 hs first. We really
hope we can have the keyjectors for the 1.5 hs while we are counting with
volunteers for installing the custom build.

 Regards,

 Carlos

 Carlos,

The 4700 XO 1.5 should have your keys and custom image already installed.

We will work on developer keys and keyjectors for the 353 1.5 HS machines
but it will take a few days.

 Regards,

 Reuben

 Guillermo,

It would be also interesting to know what kind of user density you plan
for when deploying these APs, e.g. 50 XOs to 1 AP.

Are these APs independent or run by a controller?

What software are you using to perform your site surveys and RF heat
 maps?

En nuestra implementacion usamos* IBM System X3200 M3* y no hemos

 almacenamiento.
Con respecto a los AP seria muy util y practico usar AP que soporten
PoE. Nosotros usamos la version anterior de *3Com A-WA2110 Single Radio

Re: [Server-devel] CONNECTIVITY

2010-11-12 Thread Carlos Daniel Garay Ayala
Hi, eth0 by default gets its ip from DHCP . If you need to configure a
static ip address edit /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0-local

Example:

[cga...@schoolserver ~]$ cat
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0-local
To set a static address, copy or rename this file to
   /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0-local
and set the values below appropriately
IPADDR=190.104.158.107
# IPV6ADDR=2001:4830:2446:ff00::2/64
NETMASK=255.255.255.224

 Hi,

I am a new tech in the olpc deploymeny in Papua New Guinea. I have
installed a server which works fine, however could not connect using XO
laptops. I realized that during the bootup stages, it fails during the IP
 determining information on eth0.Fails.

Note that I do have ONLY one NIC which is inbuilt onto the motherboard.

Can anyone assist me on how to resolve this issue..

[Server-devel] Unregister - Register

2010-06-16 Thread Carlos Daniel Garay Ayala
Hello,

One of our XS had to be replaced (hd broken). The problem is that the XO's
were already register in the old schoolserver and only a few of them weren't
register and now are registered in the new XS. Because of this only the XO
that are registered on the new XS are being back-upped.

Is there a massive-efficient way to unregister and then re register the XO?
