[Drakelist] L4B
If anyone has or knows where to obtain a identical Drake output rf switch for a L4B I would appreciate the information. I have been refurbishing a L4B and came to the conclusion that the L4B switch I have is too iffy to put back in the L4B, as it was broken in three places and the contacts bent and twisted. Even though I bonded it back together and straightened the contacts it still doesn't instill in me the confidence that it will be reliable. As a possible solution to this problem I have a very reliable world war II switch from a navy transmitter. The problem with this switch is that it is not able to switch out of the circuit the sections of the variable condenser for 20 , 15 and 10 meters. Before I seal up the l4B and try this switch I am asking if anyone knows where I can get either a new L4B switch, or one in excellent condition, also, if I use this world war II switch will it work satisfactory without switching out of the circuit one section of the variable capacitor(16 to 400 pff) for 20 meters and two sections of the variable condenser for 15 and 10 meters, and if it will work do I have to reduce the inductance to compensate for this added capacitance? thnak you karl corder WA2OVJ ___ Drakelist mailing list Drakelist@zerobeat.net http://mailman.zerobeat.net/mailman/listinfo/drakelist
Re: [Drakelist] experience with TR-7 CW filter
I have the 500 and 300 Hz filters in my TR7. I found the tuning to be a bit sharp with the narrow filter using the TR7 VFO, but with my DDS VFO the tuning is very slow and the filter is much easier to use. It doesn't ring any more or less than any other narrow filter I've ever heard and I haven't found the insertion loss to be a problem. 73, Floyd - K8AC - Original Message - From: Dennis Monticelli To: drakelist@zerobeat.net Sent: Monday, August 10, 2009 2:06 PM Subject: [Drakelist] experience with TR-7 CW filter I am considering buying a 300Hz filter for the TR7 and wonder if any of you guys out there have experience with that narrow filter. Re: [Drakelist] Manual Problem
The best way would be with Adobe Photoshop, starting with a relatively high resolution file, or simply take a digital picture (again relatively hi-res), evenly lit, of the complete 11X17, or whatever size it is. In the biz we call it "copy art". Rick W9WS On Aug 10, 2009, at 6:57 PM, Donley wrote: This is not really off topic because it deals with Drake manuals also. [Drakelist] R-4x antenna coil slug
Hi foks, If Garey, our guru on these, things is by chance well enuf to be monitoring, we hope you're doing well. I'm into a local fellow's R-4A, and noticed the antenna xfmr, T-1, had the slug set lower in the coil than the others, by abt 1/4". In order to re-adjust it, I removed it, and found it looked like it had been broken off. Checked the Inj slug, and they are ~ 1/4" different in length. The Inj slug has a nice square end, the Ant one has a broken looking end. (the piece is nowhere to be found, it's not down the hole.) Anyhow, does anyone have a junker rcvr with a donor T-1 slug? Or know of another of the same mix & length that could be used, even if epoxied to the wire? I have a junker TR-4, could get s slug from an xfmr in it, but it doesn't have the same rack/slug arrgt. tnx, 73, Al, W8UT New Bern, NC www.boatanchors.org www.hammarlund.info "there is nothing -absolutely nothing- half as much worth doing as simply messing about in boats." Re: [Drakelist] experience with TR-7 CW filter
I've got the 400hz InRad (I think that's it) and it's quite narrow. I can't imagine needing more narrow than that. I note no excessive loss with the 400hz Inrad or the 500hz Drake...
