Just curious, why you would not want to install 6.04. The difference that
affects most people is the country database which is available from Jim's
website.

Actually, I downloaded the new version and filled out the order.txt and
faxed it Tuesday morning. I received my key Tuesday afternoon. So they
are working the orders.

I'm with you Alan. I have a bunch to work on RTTY and instead of working
them and then opening DX4Win to log them, I can do it all in one fell
swoop. It's a great addition.

[Dx4win] Adding QSOs real-time

2005-05-26 Thread Rob Snieder
I have reported this bug also a year ago but despite it is a bug nothing
happens . . . I ordered version 7.01 in the hope this irritating bug was
fixed but clearly it isn't.

Subject: [Dx4win] Adding QSOs real-time

Hi all,
I have no radio connected, just the TNC to receive DX spots.

When adding QSOs in real-time and the QSO window is still empty, each time a
new spot comes up the mode and band are set according to that spot. The
default settings in Prefs|QSO are ignored.

This behavior started with version 6.03 and was carried on now to 7.01. Is
this intended or just a bug? And if so, will it be fixed with 7.02?

Anyway, I don't like it because it's rather annoying, so I went back to
version 6.02 after finding out and it will prevent me from upgrading to
version 7 if it is not fixed.

Any comments?

Version 7.01 was on sale at Dayton this past weekend. They did not want to
create a problem by having to support what they were doing at Dayton plus
the online users. They should have it up on their web page before much
longer, though. Paul sent out an e-mail yesterday stating their case about
doing this. All I can tell you right now is that you will have to wait
until they are caught up from Dayton and get the web page updated. It seems
to have not been a very big deal to the folks that have everything worked on
RTTY because I got some smirk e-mails from some of those guys stating "so
what." But the addition of MMTTY to it is a big plus to me because I still
to work 190 more countries on RTTY to have them all. I enjoy having RTTY
QSO's whether I need it as a new country or not and this version makes it
much simpler.

It's not distributed with the program, but it's a free download from the web:

Note that you do not need to hit the ENTER key - just type in "VERSION" then
TAB or SPACE and the version number will pop up (you do not need to TAB or
SPACE in "Callsign Update" mode). This will work in any version of DX4WIN that
has country file release #8 or later.

[Dx4win] DX4WIN 7.01 and DX4WIN.CTY

2005-05-26 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Hi Folks,

Welcome to the new users of DX4WIN.

I have been keeping a web page with tips on upgrading, application
notes (*), etc. It also has the latest releases of DX4WIN.CTY, the
country file. You can find it at:

http://www.ad1c.us/dx4win/

Note that DX4WIN.CTY Release #19 (not 20) was included in
DX4W701. Remember that you can type in the callsign "VERSION" to see
what version you have - the version number will appear in the CQ Zone
field, and the QSL database date will appear in the QSL Manager
field. You can upgrade to the latest country file by following the
instructions at:

http://www.ad1c.us/dx4win/#Country

If you have any problems, you can contact me directly.

73 - Jim AD1C

(*) I have ideas for a few application notes in the queue, but have
not had time to work on them. Probably in a couple of weeks.
