There is a user who wrote to fink-beginners with a problem doing gnome

We have in PkgVersion.pm a definition of Source:gnome as

   mirror:gnome:stable/sources/%n/%n-%v.tar.gz

If I go to ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME, though, this is NOT the layout.
Instead, for that site we would need

   mirror:gnome:stable/sources/%n-%v.tar.gz

On the other hand, I checked a few of the mirrors and the original version
of the URL was fine.

Does anybody know what is going on? Is gnome in transition to a new
structure?

Maybe, I don't know.

Re: [Fink-devel] gnome mirrors - works for me

2002-03-25 Thread David R. Morrison

Hmmm... using a browser I went to

  ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/stable/latest/sources

and what I see there is a bunch of files %n-%v.tar.gz, and no directories
%n.

On the other hand (and I didn't try this before) if I directly request
%n/%n-%v.tar.gz using wget or curl, I do get the file.

In the meantime, Alexander Hansen responded on the beginner's list,
suggesting that the problem might be proxy/firewall related, which
I had not thought of.

Pkg was libghttp by the way.
