[Frameworks] I'm searching for films by Pedro Costa

2011-08-31 Thread mat fleming
Hi,

I'm working for a festival hunting down films. We're looking for Pedro
Costa's Fontainhas trilogy - Colossal Youth, Ossos and In Vanda's room.

Can anyone help me with contact details for him, or international
distributors (they have none in the UK as far as i can tell) email me off
list.

Thanks

Re: [Frameworks] Presenting a native ultraPan8 projector.

Hi Nick, your work on this is terrific!

You might find original 'Span 8' cameras in Switzerland. Apparently a TV
company was interested in it as a viable commercial format. Martin
Baumgarten describes past uses of this kind of format in the end of his
article here:
http://lavender.fortunecity.com/lavender/569/8mmfilmgauges.html
I tried it once too, but your's is beautifully sharp, mine makes really soft
images.

No sorry i don't have any other information about the Swizz company Martin
refers to. I made my own Span 8 camera a couple of years ago, It's very
ropey but I guess it's kind of cool. At the time I found it hard to find
regular 8 film and I went throgh a terrible financial patch so i didn't test
it much. I keep meaning to have another go maybe this will motivate me.

i dont think you have Husets Biograf in copenhagen on the list. They are
running a handsome left handed Bauer (i think) in the booth. which they run
on quite a regular basis.

contact: Jack Stevenson at (jack.steven...@mail.dk) who you need to add to
your distributor list if he's not already on it.

If you're somewhere near the north east of England and you want to come

[Frameworks] Filming a film projection

2012-06-15 Thread mat fleming
Hi,

Sorry if this topic has been covered before. It's quite a difficult one to
conjure narrow search terms for.

Can someone explain the basics of filming a film projection.
I have an 8mm projector (a Eumig) which will run at 3, 6, 9, 12 and 18fps
(but not accurately). and a 35mm projector (which i want to use as the
camera with print stock in it) which can run at any speed.

To get the least flicker should I run them at the same speed or make one
slightly faster than the the other?

what happens if they are at mismatched speeds?

Thanks,

Amazing to hear you can do blow ups Graeme. I'll defo be asking you more
about that in the near future! Between us we have it covered then because
we can do reductions up here.

Hi

Presumably Kahl, http://www.kahlfilm.de/, is the place to go now, but Fuji
still make Velvia right? so Cinevia is still an option.
http://www.cinevia.eu/, I hope they start to sell it in 400'/30m loads. It
doesn't come cheap but maybe these little companies will get stronger if we
move our custom from Kodak - which is a good thing.

Now I all I need is a job to pay for the stuff.

[Frameworks] Cinema interior commission

2016-11-09 Thread mat fleming
Hello everyone,

Star and Shadow Cinema, Newcastle is offering a commission to an artist or
a screening collective to design and build the interior of their new
auditorium.

The artists' fee is low but there is a little money, travel and
accommodation available for an artist or a team of up to 4 people to join
us for a month and realise an idea with help from a large international
volunteer labour force. This will need to happen over March/April time.

The travel budget aims this at Europeans but we'll consider and try to
accommodate any proposal we really like.

If you would like the full call out please email me at
matflemin...@gmail.com as I don't think I can make an attachment on the
