USB (mouse) problem

2003-11-02 Thread sebastian ssmoller
hi,
recently i installed freebsd 5 current on an asus m2400n notebook. most
things work fine so far, but one ugly problem left: every time i plug in
my usb mouse the system freezes. the system is really dead then (needs
to be rebooted) - even the light on the optical mouse is swiched off.

Any ideas ?

thx
seb

Please read the handbook on the proper form for problem reports. In the
future, you might want to include the following:

- uname -a
- boot -s output
- a trace, if available on the first vt or serial console.
- your kernel config file of the running system.

When you say that your machine locks solid, are you in X11 when you're
plugging in the mouse? If so, it might really be panicking, it's just that
you don't get to see the message printed to the screen. The best way to
catch this class of problem is to hook up a serial console and perform
the voodoo that makes the machine lock up.

And me too !

In my case I use an OmniView USB KVM switch. When I switch to my
MacOS X box (which causes the keyboard and mouse to be disconnected
from the FreeBSD machine), FreeBSD locks solid.

Have similar problem, when hub with USB micekeyboard detached
system freezet at all (even not possible to call DDB)

last console message - USB HUB detach message.

It was really broken about 2 weeks ago, but before (about beggining
syncing with netbsd) detach was broken - so kernel not feel USB detach
events from keybord and mouse. And as result internal keyboard was not
reactivated.

2002-03-30 Thread Masahide -mac- NODA

Hi, -current users.

I found 'hung up situtation' with USB mouse on current.

- Insert USB mouse to FreeBSD-CURRENT machine.
- search moused pid for USB mouse
- kill pid to hungup

This problem cause 'unable to shutdown FreeBSD'.
