This word 'be' should be removed.

The other typo has already mentioned, as well as a question asked; so,
apart from that the rest of the news item looks good to me.

1) The old virtual was EAPI2
2) This is long overdue by a year at least
3) Only 2 packages in the tree currently have virtual/mysql:=

This will be corrected in the future as 5.6 now has subslots.

Yes, sorry. I'm not the best writer in the world. At least in code I
can fake it.

Please be sure to review the upgrade document for any possible actions
necessary before and after the upgrade. This includes running
mysql_upgrade after the upgrade completion.

Due to security flaws, MySQL 5.1 will be hard masked in 30 days after
this news item is posted. It will remain in masked the tree for
3 months before removal.

[gentoo-dev] RFC: new set of profiles/default/linux/uclibc

2014-08-14 Thread Anthony G. Basile

Hi everyone,

I'm going to add a new set of profiles under default linux. These will
mirror what's already under hardened and will have the structure:

default/linux/uclibc/{amd64,arm,mips,ppc,x86}

Currently I maintain both hardened and non-hardened uclibc stages for
all those arches. I've been housing the vanilla profiles under hardened
by just turning off USE=hardened, but that's hacky. Rather, we should
have default/linux/uclibc and have hardened/linux/uclibc inherit from
them like we do with default/linux in general.
