Ideally a greeter could run as in the user's session and act as a lockscreen for the user as well as a way to authenticate/log-in as other users. For xenial, this is adwaita-icon-theme >= 3.18. This causes 2 problems. One is that we have to remember to upload a new version of adwaita-icon-theme before we upload a new version of GTK3. Otherwise, the new version of adwaita-icon-theme becomes unbuildable because adwaita-icon-theme depends on GTK3 to build but GTK3 is uninstallable because the dependency can't be satisfied yet. This can be worked around (it happened this week with 3.20 in yakkety) but it's not good. The other is that Lubuntu doesn't want to install adwaita-icon-theme but instead install lubuntu-icon-theme as a replacement by setting Provides: adwaita-icon-theme. According to Debian policy, that doesn't work if something has a versioned dependency on the provided package. https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch- relationships.html#s-virtual The versioned dependency was removed in Debian svn: https://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/pkg-gnome/desktop/unstable/gtk%2B3.0/debian/control.in?r1=49406&r2=49410 Test case = Since the xenial daily images use -proposed, check here whether adwaita-icon-theme is installed a day or two after the gtk update has been pushed to xenial-proposed: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/xenial/daily-live/current/xenial- desktop-amd64.manifest Regression potential If in fact, lubuntu-icon-theme does not include some of the icons in adwaita-icon-theme, there will be missing icons in apps that try to use those icons. The changelog for 2.12 is available here https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/blob/2.12/debian/changelog, the raw git changelog is available here: https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/commits/2.12 (note that the debian changelog is auto-generated from the merges of the git commits so there is usually no need to look at the raw git commits). The snappy team released a new 2.12 micro release that we want SRU into xenial. The new process described in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SnapdUpdates was used and we have done integration-tests on the snappy images, autopkgtests on classic and unit tests. The following automatic tests are run: - travis unit tests https://travis-ci.org/snapcore/snapd/branches (check for 2.12 here) - travis/spread based integration/system tests: https://travis-ci.org/snapcore/snapd/branches (check for 2.12 here under "spread") - jenkins autopkgtests http://162.213.35.179:8080/job/snappy-by-tag-autopkgtest/14/ - jenkins integration tests: http://162.213.35.179:8080/job/snappy-by-tag-integration-test/17/ The following additional tests were performed: """ - adt-buildvm-ubuntu-cloud - customize the resulting image: "sudo apt install snapd && sudo snap install hello-world && hello-world.env && sudo snap remove hello-world" (ensures the base image has the old debs and the daemon has some state) - adt-run --source snapd_2.12.dsc --- adt-virt-qemu adt-xenial-amd64-cloud.img: PASS """ This included the upgrade from 2.0.11 as part of the autopkgtest run. There are also various snaps installed/removed (including installing and running ubuntu-calculator-app in xvfb) and run as part of the auto pkg test, including reboots to ensure that the system keeps working over reboots. After installing the new snapd it was ensured that apt is unaffected by doing: """ - sudo apt install -y hello && sudo apt remove -y hello """ After installing the new snapd gnome-software was used: """ - install "http" (snap) and remove it again """ All worked as expected. [Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1611277] Re: Kernel Shipped With Ubuntu 16.04.1 Cannot Recognize fakeRaid
Yes, it sounds like that is the initial trigger. So somewhere between 3.16 and 4.4 the kernel got better in declaring which disk drives could be hot-plugged. And the AHCI and (likely) the fakeraid modes potentially support to hot-plug disks (you could have externally accessible drive bays). Sometimes the BIOS allows to change the hot-plug support but not all). If you had that BIOS option that would be a work-around for you. But probably dmraid should not care about a drive being removable. It probably was meant to protect against probing USB sticks and/or cdroms. I don't know for sure. As said on some of the threads you link I would rather not think of this as a kernel bug. It rather supports the flag more correctly. So if something needs to change it probably is dmraid. Unfortunately that change might have odd consequences in other cases. So I would like to be careful there. ** Also affects: dmraid (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: dmraid (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: dmraid (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid ** Changed in: dmraid (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Stefan Bader (smb) ** Also affects: dmraid (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of नेपाली भाषा समायोजकहरुको समूह, which is subscribed to Xenial. Update kernel to linux-images-4.4.0-34-generic only The result is that the mapper was seperated into /dev/sdb and /dev/sdc and cannot be rebuild with dmraid (said no raid disk) or mdadm (said no superblock). Something interesting is that when I reinstall Ubuntu 14.04.2 with my old CD, during the installation Ubuntu is able to recognize /dev/mapper/ But when I do a fresh install in Ubuntu 16.04 with the CD, I get /dev/sdb and /dev/sdc The motherboard I'm using is Gigabyte X79-UP4 The fakeRaid with Marvell chipset on my motherboard shows the following information with fdisk in Ubuntu 16.04.1. /dev/sda is where the system is installed.
