Re: [h-cost] Cristmas squee!
That is wonderful! I have Costume in Detail checked out from the library right now and it is definitely on my want list. My hubby gave me the Madeleine Vionnet book by Betty Kirke. I, too, am burbling with delight. Yeah for husbands who listen! Susan If we knew what we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it? A. My husband's gifts to me included Dawn Luckham's Regency stays pattern, a book titled _Women, Production, and Patriarchy in Late Medieval Cities_ (which contains information on textile production), and a bottle of Ralph Lauren Notorious perfume (plus a bunch of different perfume samples). Re: [h-cost] Cristmas squee!
Mine was a more subdued squee... Santa brought me a Rowenta garment steam cleaner, which I did ask for. While my good Rowenta steam iron is wonderful, it's hard to use it to steam those historical garments once made up. This will help me keep those hard to clean garments, and even my drapes, nice and wrinkle free. I just have to figure out where to put it. I also got some music cds, and an amazon gift card which I used to buy some more books, tho not historical ones for a change. I want more modern clothes, although I am leaning to historically inspired modern clothes along with some classic ones that I get to make to fit my more mature body. Nothing more annoying than slacks that just don't fit or hang right. I hope everyone's holiday season was merry, bright, and full of joy. And have a happy New Year!
