A permanent solution is a must now.The best solution is deportation of European
immigrants from Palestine to Europe and creation of one Palestinian democratic
state.
Two -state solution has been made impossible by Israel backed by US and her
allies.

Bismillah [IslamCity] MSc Scholarships for Israel and Palestine Students, Study of Human Rights

2009-01-05 Thread Arif Bhuiyan
MSc Scholarships for Israel and Palestine Students, Study of Human Rights
MSc Human Rights Scholarship Programme 2009 for Israel and Palestine Students:
New scholarship to promote human rights in Israel and Palestine/Occupied
Territories
The Centre for the Study of Human Rights is delighted to announce the Sir
Siegmund Warburg Scholarship available to students joining the MSc Human Rights
programme in October 2009.
This new scholarship, which will be available every year from 2009, will offer
Palestinian and Israeli students the opportunity to undertake full-time
postgraduate human rights study at LSE.
The MSc Human Rights programme offers a concentrated, twelve-month engagement
with human rights. The core course ‘Approaches to Human Rights’ provides
students with an overview of the various philosophical, sociological and legal
approaches to the subject. The core course is designed to give a strong
intellectual underpinning to the MSc, which is then built on further through
the choice of optional courses and dissertation subject which each student
makes. More information about the MSc Human Rights is in the graduate
prospectus.
The scholarship will cover the tuition fee (£13,992) and living expenses of
£1000 per month (for up to 12 months). One scholarship will be awarded each
year.
Welcoming the scholarship, the Director of the Centre of theStudy of Human
Rights at LSE Professor Conor Gearty, who also convenes the MSc programme,
warmly thanked the anonymous funder whose generosity had made the scholarship
available.
‘The academic study of human rights is not only about ideas and intellect, it
is also about practice, about making a difference, and nowhere is this a more
important goal than in the Middle East. I am very optimistic that over time the
holders of this scholarship will make a real difference for the better in that
troubled region.’
How to apply
Applicants interested in the scholarship must first make a formal application
to LSE to the MSc Human Rights via the online LSE application form.
Eligible students (those resident in Israel, Palestine/ Occupied Territories or
Palestinian camps in Syria, Jordan or Lebanon) may then apply for the Sir
Siegmund Warburg Scholarship via the Financial Support Office at LSE.
Applicants are required to submit a personal statement in which they should
explain how they meet the criteria set out for the Scholarship and how they
envisage putting their study programme to practical use.
The criteria
Applicants must be resident in Israel, Palestine/ Occupied Territories or in
Palestinian camps in Syria, Jordan or Lebanon. They must be able to demonstrate
both financial need and the potential to engage in, promote and set high
standards for human rights work in the region.
Applications must be submitted to the Financial Support Office by Friday 24
April 2009. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by
Friday 22 May 2009.
As scholarship applications can only be accepted by those who have already been
offered a place on the MSc Human Rights, candidates are urged to apply to the
MSc Human Rights as early as possible.
The Sir Siegmund Warburg Scholarship has been made possible by the generosity
of an anonymous donor.

Bismillah [IslamCity] The Gaza Ghetto and Western Cant - By TARIQ ALI

‘Nobody can reject or condemn the revolt of a people that has been suffering
under military occupation for forty-five years against occupation force’: the
words of General Shlomo Gazit, former chief of Israeli military intelligence,
in 1993.

December 30, 2008
Official Apathy
The Gaza Ghetto and Western Cant
By TARIQ ALI
http://www.counterpunch.org/tariq12302008.html
The assault on the Gaza Ghetto, planned over six months and executed with
perfect timing was designed largely to help the incumbent parties triumph in
the forthcoming Israeli elections. The dead Palestinians are little more than
election fodder in a cynical contest between the Right and the Far Right in
Israel. Washington and its EU allies, perfectly aware that Gaza was about to be
assaulted, as in the case of Lebanon a few years, sit back and watch.
Washington, as is its wont, blames the pro-Hamas Palestinians, with Obama and
Bush singing from the same AIPAC hymn sheet.
The EU politicians, having observed the build-up, the siege, the collective
punishment inflicted on Gaza, the targeting of civilians, etc [See Harvard
scholar Sara Roy’s chilling essay in the latest LRB] were convinced that it was
the rocket attacks that had ‘provoked’ Israel but called on both sides to end
the violence, with nil effect. The moth-eaten Mubarik dictatorship in Egypt and
NATO’s favourite Islamists in Ankara, failed to even register a symbolic
protest by recalling their Ambassadors from Israel. China and Russia did not
convene a meeting of the UNSC to discuss the crisis.
As result of official apathy, one outcome of this latest attack will be to
inflame Muslim communities throughout the world and swell the ranks of those
very organisations that the West claims it is combating in the ‘war against
terror’.
The bloodshed in Gaza raises broader strategic questions for both sides, issues
related to recent history. One fact that needs to be recognised is that there
is no Palestinian Authority. There never was one. The Oslo Accords were an
unmitigated disaster for the Palestinians, creating a set of disconnected and
shrivelled Palestinian ghettoes under the permanent watch of a brutal enforcer.
The PLO, once the repository of Palestinian hope, became little more than a
supplicant for EU money. Western enthusiasm for democracy stops when those
opposed to its policies are elected to office. The West and Israel tried
everything to secure a Fatah victory: Palestinian voters rebuffed the concerted
threats and bribes of the ‘international community’ in a campaign that saw
Hamas members and other oppositionists routinely detained or assaulted by the
IDF, their posters confiscated or destroyed, us and EU funds channelled into
the Fatah campaign, and US Congressmen announcing that Hamas should not be
allowed to run. Even the timing of the election was set by the determination to
rig the outcome. Scheduled for the summer of 2005, it was delayed till January
2006 to give Abbas time to distribute assets in Gaza—in the words of an
Egyptian intelligence officer: ‘the public will then support the Authority
against Hamas’. Popular desire for a clean
broom after ten years of corruption, bullying and bluster under Fatah proved
stronger than all of this.
Hamas’s electoral triumph was treated as an ominous sign of rising
fundamentalism, and a fearsome blow to the prospects of peace with Israel, by
rulers and journalists across the Atlantic world. Immediate financial and
diplomatic pressures were applied to force Hamas to adopt the same policies as
those whom it defeated at the polls.
Uncompromised by the Palestinian Authority’s combination of greed and
dependency, the self-enrichment of its servile spokesmen and policemen, and
their acquiescence in a ‘peace process’ that has brought only further
expropriation and misery to the population under them, Hamas offered the
alternative of a simple example. Without any of the resources of its rival, it
set up clinics, schools, hospitals, vocational training and welfare programmes
for the poor. Its leaders and cadres lived frugally, within reach of ordinary
people. It is this response to everyday needs that has won Hamas the broad
basis of its support, not daily recitation of verses from the Koran.
How far its conduct in the second Intifada has given it an additional degree of
credibility is less clear. Its armed attacks on Israel, like those of Fatah’s
Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade or Islamic Jihad, have been retaliations against an
occupation far more deadly than any actions it has ever undertaken. Measured on
the scale of IDF killings, Palestinian strikes have been few and far between.
The asymmetry was starkly exposed during Hamas’s unilateral ceasefire, begun in
June 2003, and maintained throughout the summer despite the Israeli campaign of
raids and mass arrests, which followed, in which some three hundred Hamas
cadres were seized from the West Bank. On 19 August 2003 a self-proclaimed

On the occasion
of New Year’s Day, may it be 1st Muharram (Hijri), 1st Boishakh (Bangla) or 1st
January (English); having better meals on the occasion of such New Year’s Day
has nothing to do with the Muslims. No specialty or blessings in that. And this
is not a day to express joy or delight. Rather those fire worshippers do
celebrate that day exclusively and along with them do the Hindus and Buddhists.
For Muslims, it is the 10th day of the month of Muharram, the 'Day of
‘Aashoora, to have better meal and this day is the day of honour and
remembrance for the whole universe or for all creations.

Muharram is the first month of
the Arabic calendar. Muharram is one of those four special months which have
been declared as month of honour. From the beginning of creation, this month
has been specially regarded.

A’khiri Rasul, Habibullah Huzur-i-Pak Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam said that,
“Honour the month of Muharram and the 10th instant that is the ‘Day of
‘Aashoora’. One who shall honour the month of Muharram and the 'Day of
‘Aashoora' (10th Muharram), Allah shall dignify him by rewarding Jannat
(Heaven) to him and save him from Jahannam (Hell).

The 10th instant of this month (‘Aashoora in Arabic meaning 10th instant) is a
specially discussed day in the Universe. The creation started on this day and
would end up on this very day. Some special creations were done on this day and
some significant incidents also occurred on this day.

Starting from the Akhiri Rasul, Habibullah, Huzur-i-Pak Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa
Sallam up to the first Nabi Hazrat Aadam ‘Alaihis Salam, every Nabi and Rasul
‘Alaihimus Salam had some significant happenings on this day. Naturally, this
day is a day of great celebration and a day of achieving Allah’s blessings,
mercy, sakina and salvation.

Hadis Sharif narrates about some practices (‘Aamal) on the occasion of this day
– (1) Perform ‘Saom’ for two days; either on the 9th and 10th or on the 10th
and 11th of Muharram. Saom only on the 10th day is Makruh. If possible,
offering Iftar to one or more persons performing saom on this day. (2) Offering
good food to family members as per one’s ability. (3) Have a shower or a bath.
(4) Using ‘Shurma’ (Ismid Shurma – Shurma mixed with Meshk-e-Ambar) in the
eyes. (5) Feeding the poor. (6) Affectionate touch on the heads of orphans. All
of these are ‘Sunnati’ practices and are reasons for rewards of Jannat.

Hadis Sharif has it that, on being asked about the fazilat (rewards) of having
saom during ‘Aashoora, Huzur-i-Pak Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam remarked that,
“This is like a ‘kaffara’ (payment) for past sins. (Muslim Sharif).

Huzur-i-Pak Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam further added that, “If someone would
offer good food to his family members on the 'Day of ‘Aashoora', Allah shall
bestow upon him a solvency for next one year.” (Twabarani Sharif)

There is a story in this regard of a gentleman who was poor and an ‘Aalim
(Wise). At some stage of his day to day life, he was sick and could not go to
work for three days. The fourth day was the day of ‘Aashoora and he knew about
the significance of having good food on this day. Then it was the age of the
Quazi (Judge) and the Quazi responsible for his area was a rich man. The man
approached the Quazi, explaining the significance of the 'Day of ‘Aashoora'. On
the plea of his illness and starving condition of his family, he asked the
Quazi for some ten kilograms of flour, ten kilograms of meat and two dirhams to
be given to him as Hadia or loan. The Quazi asked him to come later during Zohr
time (afternoon). At the time of Zohr, Quazi asked him to come during Asr (late
afternoon). But then at Asr, Quazi asked the man to come during Maghrib
(evening) and at Maghrib, to come during ‘Ishaa (late evening). Lastly during
‘Ishaa, Quazi finally refused the man to give anything. The poor ‘Aalim
reacted, “O Honourable Quazi! If you did not wish to make it for me, you could
have told me in the beginning. I would look for some other arrangements. Now
that the whole day is gone and you are refusing me at this time!” The Quazi did
not pay any heed to it and closed his doors.

The man went back sobbing. On his way, there was the residence of a Christian
man who was surprised to see an old man crying. He tried to inquire into the
matter. But being a non-Muslim, he was not initially confided upon.

B i s m i l l a a h i r R a h m a a n i r R a h e e m

Assalaamu`Alaykum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatahu,

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Islam,

The following is a MUST LISTEN for anyone who wants to know the truth behind
the Israeli massacre in Gaza. In clear and no uncertain terms Israeli
government officials and official documents show that the attack on Gaza was
planned more than 6 months ago. What is also key is how they developed the
narrative of missile attacks from Hamas as propaganda for goyim consumption
to justify their attacks.

Please share this information with everyone that you can so that the true evil
and diabolical nature of the Zionist regime can be exposed and how indeed they
view the rest of the world as human cattle to feed disinformation to in order
to justify their dastardly deeds.

The link to this VERY IMPORTANT audio exposure is (Click Play):

http://www.box.net/shared/rydpmtmos5

We ask that the media, Muslim and non-Muslim take responsibility for truth and
cease spreading the erroneous Israeli propaganda that this lop- sided massacre
is in response to Palestinians firing missiles into Israel which caused no
Israeli casualties during the cease fire. As revealed by Israeli government
officials and their own documents, this massacre of the inhabitants in Gaza is
something the Israeli government has been deliberately planning for more than
six months.

Bush thanks Mubarak for the positive role of Egypt during the war on
Gaza

  [ 31/12/2008 - 11:35 AM ]

WASHINGTON, (PIC)-- The white house announced on Wednesday that the US
president George Bush called the Egyptian president Husni Mubarak and thanked
him for Egypt's positive role during the past few days of the war on the Gaza
Strip.

White house spokesman, Gordon Johndroe, also said that Bush called the PA
president Mahnoud Abbas and the premier of his illegitimate government Salam
Fayyad and emphasized the need for a lasting cease-fire.

President Bush and the two Palestinian leaders discussed their efforts
for a sustainable cease-fire. They agreed that for any cease-fire to be
effective, it must be respected, particularly by Hamas, Johndroe said.

Bush, who is leaving the White House in three weeks, has not made any
statement about the Israeli onslaught against the Gaza Strip.

The Washington Post quoted a US administration official as saying that
Israel chose to attack at this time to utilise the remaining days for president
Bush in office.

Evil Thoughts Are Not Harmful To Faith And There Will Be No Punishment On
Them(54) It is related by Abu Hurairah that the Apostle of God said: “God has
forgiven my followers evil thoughts and misgivings and there will be no
punishment on them until they are acted upon or uttered by the tongue.”
-Bukhari and Muslim

Commentary:- Sometimes most filthy ideas assail a man's heart and skeptical and
atheistic questions arise in his mind. In this Tradition the assurance is given
that as long as these desires, notions, doubts or fears remain confined to
thought and feeling, there will be no punishment on them from God. But if they
are given expression to, by word or deed, Divine chastisement will, of course,
follow.

(55) Narrates Abdullah bin Abbas that, once, a person came to the Prophet and
said, “Sometimes such wicked ideas come to my mind that I would prefer to be
burnt down and reduced to charcoal than to give utterance to them.” The Prophet
replied, “Praise be to Allah who turned back the matter towards thought
sentiment.” -Abu Dawood

Commentary:- The questioner is advised here not to eat his heart out but be
grateful to God that, out of His grace, He protected his inmost self against
adopting and accepting the vicious notions and desires and did not allow them
to go beyond the realm of thinking and feeling.

(56) It is related by Abu Hurairah that, once, some Companions presented
themselves before the Apostle of God and said, “Our condition is that sometimes
we experience such evil thoughts and sentiments in our heart that it is most
painful even to mention them.” “Is it really so?” inquired the Prophet. “Yes”,
replied the Companions, “This is our condition.” “But that is pure Faith,” the
Prophet exclaimed. -Muslim

Commentary:- It shows that to feel so greatly distressed at notions that are
contrary to Islam and the Shariat that it may be intolerable even to bring them
on the tongue is a mark of the purity of Faith.

(57) It is related by Abu Hurairah that the Apostle of God said: “Occasionally,
Satan comes to you and asks, ‘Who created this thing [and] who created that
thing,’ It goes on like that till about God Himself he sows the doubt in your
hearts [that when everything has been created by someone] who is His creator?
So when this stage is reached the bondsman should seek the refuge of the Lord
and stop. -Bukhari and Muslim

Commentary:- It shows that such ideas and misgivings are the handiwork of Satan
and when he causes a doubt concerning the very existence of the Lord to crop up
in anyone’s heart the best course for him is to beg the protection of God
against the mischief of the Devil and divert his mind from it. When the
existence of Allah is an Attribute of His Being and He is the Creator of all
things a question like this does not arise about Him in the least degree.

(58) It is related by Abu Hurairah that the Apostle of God said: “Vain
questions and aimless arguments will go on among the people till the foolish
question will also be asked that when God created all things, by whom was He
created? So, anyone who is confronted with it should put an end to the
discussion by declaring, ‘I believe in God and His Apostles.’” -Bukhari and
Muslim

Commentary:- The attitude of a faithful Believer to such ideas and inquiries
should be that he plainly told the questioner, the doubt-instilling Satan and
his own inmost self that the light of faith in God and His Apostle had reached
him, and, therefore, the afore-mentioned question was not worthy of his
consideration just as it was senseless for a clear-eyed person to think or
discuss logically whether the sun was bright or not.

Bismillah [IslamCity] The Tafsir of Surat Al-Muzzammil

2009-01-05 Thread muslimah muslimah
The Tafsir of Surat Al-Muzzammil

(Chapter - 73)

Which was revealed in Makkah

(In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

(1. O you wrapped up!) (2. Stand (to pray) all night, except a little.) (3.
Half of it or less than that, a little.) (4. Or a little more. And Rattil the
Qur'an Tartil.) (5. Verily, We shall send down to you a Word Thaqil.) (6.
Verily, rising (Nashi'ah) at night is better for understanding and more
suitable for speech (recitation).) (7. Verily, for you in the day is lengthy
Sabh.) (8. And remember the Name of your Lord and (Tabattil) devote yourself to
Him with complete devotion.) (9. Lord of the east and the west; La ilaha illa
Huwa, so take Him as a trustee.)

The Command to stand at Night (in Prayer)

Allah commands His Messenger to cease being wrapped up, and this means to be
covered during the night. He commands him to get up and stand in prayer to His
Lord. This is as Allah says,

(Their sides forsake their beds, to invoke their Lord in fear and hope, and
they spend out of what We have bestowed on them.) (32:16) Thus, the Prophet did
as Allah ordered him, by standing for prayer at night. This was obligatory upon
him alone, as Allah said,

(And in some parts of the night offer the Salah with it (the Qur'an), as an
additional prayer for you. It may be that your Lord will raise you to Maqam
Mahmud.) (17:79) Here Allah explains how much prayer he should perform. Allah
says,

(O you wrapped up! Stand all night, except a little.) Ibn `Abbas, Ad-Dahhak and
As-Suddi all said,

(O you wrapped up!) This means, O you who are asleep.'' Qatadah said, The one
who is wrapped up in his garments.'' Concerning Allah's statement,

[]

(Half of it) means, instead of the whole night.

(A little less than that, or a little more.) meaning, `We have commanded you to
stand in prayer for half of the night, either a little more than it or a little
less. There is no hardship on you concerning that (slight increase or decrease).

The Way of reciting the Qur'an

Concerning Allah's statement,

[وَرَتِّلِ الْقُرْءَانَ تَرْتِيلاً]

(And Rattil the Qur'an Tartil.) meaning, recite it slowly, for that will help
in understanding the Qur'an and contemplating it. This is how the Prophet used
to recite. `A'ishah said, He (the Prophet) used to recite the chapter slowly,
so much so that it would be longer than chapters that were actually longer than
it.'' In Sahih Al-Bukhari, it is recorded from Anas that he was asked about the
recitation of the Messenger of Allah , so he replied, He used to elongate the
letters.'' Then he (Anas) recited,

(In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.) (1:1) and he
elongated In the Name of Allah,'' and he elongated The Most Gracious,'' and
he elongated The Most Merciful.'' Ibn Jurayj reported from Ibn Abi Mulaykah,
who narrated from Umm Salamah that she was asked about the recitation of the
Messenger of Allah , so she said, He used to pause in his recitation, verse by
verse.

(In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is
Allah's, the Lord of all that exists. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. The
Only Owner of the Day of Recompense.) (1:1-4) This was recorded by Ahmad, Abu
Dawud and At-Tirmidhi. We have already mentioned the Hadiths which prove the
recommendation of slow rhythmic recitation and beautification of the voice
while reciting at the beginning of this Tafsir. For example, the Hadith which
states,

(Beautify the Qur'an with your voices.) and the Hadith,

(He is not of us who does not chant nicely with the recitation of the Qur'an.)
and the Hadith,

(Verily, he has been given this windpipe from the windpipes of the family of
Dawud.) Referring to Abu Musa. Abu Musa replied, If I knew that you had been
listening to my recitation, I would have truly beautified it for you.'' It has
been narrated from Ibn Mas`ud that he said, Do not scatter the (recitation of)
Qur'an out like the scattering of sand, and do not rush through it like the
hasty recitation of poetry. Stop at its amazing parts and make your heart move
with it. None of you should let his concern be to reach the end of the
chapter.'' This has been recorded by Al-Baghawi. Al-Bukhari recorded from Abi
Wa'il that he said, A man came to Ibn Mas`ud and said, `I read the Mufassal
chapters (from Qaf to An-Nas) last night in one unit of prayer.' Ibn Mas`ud
said, `This is rushing like the haste of reciting poetry. the Most Merciful.

2009-01-05 Thread Hadayai Majeed
As Salaamu Alaikum,

There is a form at CNN/Heroes that you can fill out and use to nominate your
heroe. All of the information is on that page. I am nominating two people
from this area (if they will allow me). I feel very strongly as I stated in
the past email that this is a form of Dawah that can't be ignored, plus if
any of our Muslim brothers or sisters make it to the top ten they get a nice
prize for their efforts and can possibly earn the $100,000 top prize (that
is $100,000 on top of the $25,000 if you make it to the top ten).

So let's find people to nominate, insh'Allah.

My name is Tyrone but on a visit to UK i got the chance to share and
pray with the brothers such a wonderful experience and there i was
know as Harun Rashid.
I dont want to start any polemic issues, believe me i know and
realise the importance of Islam on earth, I read the Holy Quran and
i was sincere in my efforts towards GOD consciousness and Allah has
revealed as He does with all true believers.
Yes the religion that Allah chose for all human kind, and Allah
knows that i wouldnt want it any other way, the world would be a
happy peacefull place but keeping in mind that we dont really belong
in this material temporary world.
I have been searching for GOD and Truth and that took me tru many
diferente beliefs, the ones that i learned much, there was always
something to learn and realise, yes there is non as great as Islam
but there are other paths and just like Islam there are sincere true
lovers of GOD and then you have the wicked lying cheating type, and
they are in everypath but from any path, Allah is concern with that
sincere heart, the true ones that trully love Him and seek Him and
as we see so many convert from all path, its all a matter of time
when Allah will revealed what is needed to come closer to Him no
matter the path as long as the goal is clear.
I would like to ask if anyones can contact me tru yahoo IM or msn

me clear them.
Actually there are 2 topics i got in mind, so if u reply to me for

One religion , we all know, used to wish to itself,
to be in Jerusalem

So each year , at the new-year's-day
they  used the slogan :
Next year in Jerusalem !!

Since 1967 , my friends and family
we say the same slogan , ironically.and with bitterness :
Next Year in Jerusalem !!

This year I say :
Next Year in (the disinfected) Jerusalem !!

The irony remains that when we were inside Jerusalem
they were not forbidden to enter in.
but now that they are inside Jerusalem ,
we are completely out of it .
( we need a special-permission to spend the Christmas-eve
with our uncle or aunt ,in Jerusalem , who need a permission
to add a floor to their existing housein Jerusalem ,
and who do not get it  , even )

If we are terrorists today , it is because we copied them
and if we were to become , also, supporters of an Apartheid
it is also because of them.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Importance of knowing Arabic in Saudi

2009-01-05 Thread Shahid
'A' for Arabic
By Amber Shahid

SHAFI Ur Islam, a Bangladeshi watchman communicates in broken Arabic with Abdul
Qudus, an Indonesian driver. Saudi Arabia, a global melting pot, is home to
over 5.5 million expatriates from around the world. It's the common thread of
the Arabic language which binds them together here.

I came here with a dream of a bright future but all that seems to have
vanished now. I have a job experience of over 14 years in a managerial post and
in spite of getting two job offers I couldn't finalize any because of my
language barrier, said Ali Sakib from Pakistan, who came to Jeddah four months
back in search of better career prospects.

We choose salespersons who can communicate in Arabic with the customers,
majority of whom are Arabic-speaking. It is very important for one to know
Arabic while living in the Kingdom; good communication skills are synonymous
with success, said a manager of a cosmetic company.

According to the Encarta Encyclopedia, Arabic is the world's second most spoken
language and its users are estimated between 186 and 422 million plus as many
as 246 million non-native speakers.

Like other countries in the West, the Kingdom doesn't have a very supportive
atmosphere for learning the land's language. In spite of being born and brought
up here, I still haven't been able to learn Arabic, said Asim Arif, a
Saudi-born Pakistani expatriate.

It is troubling when I am not able to close a deal with a client. Surely, I
would have done better if I could speak good Arabic, he said.

Arif said that sometimes parents may hinder their child from mingling with
children of other nationality thus preventing him from learning a new language.

Clearly, a prior knowledge of the local lingo can always help in a foreign
land, but what if you are not equipped with the fundamentals of Arabic? Simple,
learn the language. Ata Khan, an Indian businessman in Jeddah, said he is
taking Arabic classes so that he can pep up his business. Though my business
runs well I am still not satisfied when it comes to dealing with Arab
customers. Hence the need for the classes, he said.

The Jeddah Dawah Center (JDC) hosts Arabic classes once a week for three hours.
The duration of this course is three months and it is free of cost. JDC is an
authorized propagation center, supporting the community in achieving common
goals such as education, especially with regard to Islam, said Mohammed Aqil,
JDC's office supervisor. He said that most of the applicants for the course are
Filipinos, followed by Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. Each session has
20 to 25 students.

Cultural Exchange Center (CXC) provides Arabic classes at different levels and
for different requirements of commerce, medical, spoken Arabic and others.

The new session for 2009 will have a new setup and a revised fee structure,
informed officials at the center.

The duration is two months per level of the course, starting from the
beginners' level to the advanced level. CXC takes six to eight students per
session. We receive registration from almost every nationality - from Europeans
to Asians, said Christopher John at CXC.

He noted that there is great enthusiasm for learning Arabic among foreigners.
We are flooded by their calls expressing interest in the courses, he said.

Effat College gives Arabic tuitions for women and girls at their Extension
Program Department. The course is divided into two levels. Each level runs for
16 weeks and for three hours a week. It costs SR1700.

These courses aim to enhance the student's communication skills so that she is
able to survive in an environment where Arabic is the basic means of
communication. It stresses the use of simple everyday Arabic regardless of its
various dialects, said Dr. Eman Mohammed, chairperson of Extension Programs
Department.

She said many French, English, American, Malaysian, Dutch, and Pakistani
students among others have registered for the courses. There is no specific
criterion for the eligibility of students.

Effat College will soon start Arabic advanced level courses for students who
already have a basic knowledge of the language. Students have to clear an
entrance exam for enrollment.

The Jeddah Language Center and Future Centers also conduct frequent Arabic
classes.

Arabic is the universal language of Islam and lets us better understand the
Qur'an. Also knowing the national language helps us to be a part of the Saudi
society in a better way, Akhil said.

He said knowing Arabic can help expatriates gain respectability in the society.
It also lends an amazing confidence to work in a foreign land, he added.

Whatever may be the reasons to learn Arabic the bottom line remains that it is
a well worth investment and its acquisition reaps benefits in multiple folds. -

Bismillah [IslamCity] Anarchy In The UK (and the birth of SGS-STOP GAZA SLAUGHTER) by Yvonne Ridley

Anarchy In The UK
(and the birth of SGS - STOP GAZA SLAUGHTER)

By Yvonne Ridley

December 28, 2008 Information Clearinghouse -- THE murderous military
campaign which has been unleashed by Israel has provoked people across the
world to demonstrate, rally and protest in their hundreds of thousands.

Soon the movement will turn into millions as more ordinary, decent citizens of
the world show their disgust at the barbarism of Israel ... and the cowardly
silence of our own leaders.

This is no longer a political issue, or a Middle East issue. It is a case of
what is right and what is wrong, and what is decent and what is inhumane.

And ordinary people are now taking the initiative because they can no longer
rely on their political leaders to show any of the human qualities demanded of
them including strength, integrity or compassion.

British people, normally reserved and controlled, brought anarchy to the
streets of upscale Kensington yesterday as they stormed barracades and pushed
past police to head towards the Israeli Embassy in London.

There was more anarchy in Scotland as our friends over the Border vented their
spleen over the war crimes and massacre carried out by Israel.

And unless British Prime Minister Gordon Brown gets some lead in his pencil,
the anarchy will continue.

I am normally a law-abiding citizen, but the anger and shame I felt drove me to
join those who tore down the barriers on Saturday.

Gordon Brown is the very man who lectured us about what it is to be British.
Well let me turn the tables on this pathetic, self-serving man who does not
deserve to lead our country.

Being British is about fair play, justice and humanity ... standing up for the
underdog in the face of bullies.

Brown, like other leaders around the world, simply looked the other way as the
Israeli military jackbooted its way through the blood dripped gutters once
trawled by the Nazis to kill, massacre and maim.

In the final days of December 2008 Gordon Brown will be remembered for acting
like one of the silent cowards who hangs uncomfortably on the edge of the
schoolyard as the bully kicks and thumps the little, weak child.

And that feckless fool David Milliband is no better. While Brown told
journalists he was “deeply concerned” over Israeli actions, the British Foreign
secretary urged Israel to abide by its “humanitarian obligations”.

And it was their weasly words which was directly responsible for the
lawlessness which erupted in the streets of London on Saturday, and I’ll tell
you why.

I was outraged and ashamed by the weakness shown by Milliband and Brown and
called my good friend Ghada Razuki. We have both been to Palestine and we have
both been to Gaza and we were both repelled by the pathetic reaction of our
government.

So we decided to launch SGS - Stop Gaza Slaughter - and call for a rally. We
began hitting the phones. Many organised groups were already planning a
demonstration for the Sunday and they urged us to wait.

One told me: “You do not have police permission”. Almost choking with rage, I
responded: “Permission? Permission to demonstrate and march and exercise my
democratic right to protest? This is Britain! And did Israel ask anyone for
permission to bomb Gaza?”

But Ghada did call the police and inform them that we were planning a demo - in
truth I thought around 30 of us might turn up to respond, but it seems that we
were not the only ones who were outraged by the silence of Messrs Brown and Co.

“I thought you said only 30 were going to turn up, there must be 3,000 here
now,” said one police officer. I just shrugged my shoulders and said I had no
idea a few text messages, FaceBook and a blog could have resulted in such a
turnout.

In truth I am sure many who arrived in Kensington on Saturday would have come
anyway. But what happened was pure ‘people power’ and this is what happens when
you have a leader who commands little or no respect.

When the people lead, the leaders will follow and I think in the next few days
Brown’s advisers will tell him that what the British people want is a real man
who will stand up to the bullies.

And if he doesn’t there will be more anarchy and it will get worse. This is
neither a threat nor a promise - just a prediction.

If Brown wants to survive politically, he will have20to join us when we
demonstrate on Saturday, January 3 - opposite the British Parliament. He needs
to show us he is really man enough to lead this country.

And on the subject of Saturday’s demonstration - police permission is
apparently being sought. I have some advice for the Metropolitan Police: “Do
not try and stop the democratic right of every person in Britain to
demonstrate.”

I am going to be there - with or without police permission. And if they want to
arrest me and lock me up then so be it.

Has it now become a crime to demonstrates against war crimes? Crimes

According to Hadith, there are many times when dua is accepted, for example
after every obligatory salah, at the time of Tahajjud, between the time of Azan
and Iqamah, when it starts raining, while in a journey, doing dua after
praising Allah and reciting durood, doing dua in the sajdah of nafl salah. In
the sajdah, one should recite only the duas which are narrated from the Prophet
((صلى الله عليه وسلم, it is not allowed to do dua in sajdah in Urdu language.
The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) used to pray after every obligatory salah:
أللهم أنت السلام ومنك السلام
You should study in the books of Ahadiht the chapter: باب ما يقول بعد السلام,
you will find many traditions there. Also, there is a special chapter named
ابواب الدعوات  containing a number of duas.

Needles to say that no Gazzean father has the money
to buy fireworks for his children , even if they were available.

A Gaza -father must first find food and water and medicament's.

Later he must look for bread and freedom,
for water and liberation
for clothes and education
for dignity and Independence.
Abbas took away his democratic choice
Rice took away his democratic government
Olmert took away everything else.
and
Husny Mubarak took away his oxygen

No new-year-celebrations in Gaza, but a lot of fireworks:
From the Quassam rockets that takes 3 kilos of fear
towards the oppressors
and from the Israeli-rockets which bring 350 kilos
of high-explosives-death paid by the USA
and delivered by Zionism .

The Sky is lit over Gaza
the explosions are free and numerous
the fireworks are free but deadly.
While death is so cheap !!

Gazzeans do not care what year it is ,
