[frameworks-baloo] [Bug 460460] Baloo lies about its status when writing to its database
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460460 --- Comment #7 from tagwer...@innerjoin.org --- (In reply to Adam Fontenot from comment #6) > ... Sorry, I didn't mean to be saucy about it ... Chuckle! No problem and no offence taken :-) I do watch the kde subreddit but find it difficult to get a measure of the issues reported there. Some people are prompted to create bugs.kde.org reports and when they do I can *generally* match these up with known issues. I tend not to deal with crash reports but these are now relatively rare... You just have to look at Bug 389848 to see how far we've come 8-) A lot of the discussion around the bugs sounds like people have been burnt - sometime previously but how long previously is not said. There is an undercurrent of "first thing I do (you should do!) is disable baloo" which I think is not giving it justice. Not to say there are not still *major* hurdles to jump over, the behaviour with BTRFS and multiple subvols is something that will require major replumbing. It's there somewhere on the horizon and not going to go away: OpenSUSE users see awful behaviour and we could easily find other distributions choosing a similar filesystem setup (Bug 400704 shows some of the pain, https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=400704#c31 an attempt at separating out contributing issues) Slow jobs, shifting sands but maybe quieter waters... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Your description describes what I am seeing (better than I am able to put into words) The segfault's and back traces I have seen I am thinking are incidental. I'm not sure if Baloo regards these files as deleted when the > remote is unmounted, but if it does the result is probably disk thrashing > as it has to update its index ... It seems to do. And yes, large scale deletes seem to be hard work for baloo (as described in Bug 442453) What might muddle things is dismounting such an sshfs mount from within your home directory might not generate an inotify that files have gone. Would need to check that. I suspect if you do a "fusermount -u ", baloo doesn't notice unless you do a "balooctl check" or until the next time you log in. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[ksmserver] [Bug 460567] New: Session lost when switching between X11 and Wayland
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460567 Bug ID: 460567 Summary: Session lost when switching between X11 and Wayland Classification: Plasma Product: ksmserver Version: 5.25.5 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Reporter: msdobre...@gmail.com CC: plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** First, some context. Recently I've had issues with Plasma (maybe nVidia related), like desktop freeze, or just applets, graphics acceleration glitches (like drawing sort of back and forth "in time", i.e. redrawing frames from the past second, then going further and so on), hidden panels being paint on top of everything, although they were hidden. I've read Wayland works better than X11, as I currently use, so I've logged off and logged in to a Wayland session. Wayland seems to draw better nowadays, but can't use it because of mouse problems, it becomes slow and jumpy, actually unusable. So I've switched back to X11 by loggin off/loggin on to X1 session. I have several apps that I left open to be restored, mainly Dolphin instances for my current activities. After loggin in back to X11, those Dolphin instances were missing. I have spent few minutes (again) to fake the session in ~/.config/ksmserverrc file, but it's pretty tedious. On one hand, I've found many old dolphin session related files in ~/.config/session, none related to the latest session, which is unexpected. Why having those (orphan?) session files, but none related to my targeted session. They were there in the past, but not this time, usually removed from the ~/.config/ksmserverrc file only. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open few Dolphin instances. 2. Log off without closing Dolphin instances. 3. Log in as different server session, X11 -> Wayland, then Wayland -> X11. 4. Dolphin is not restored. OBSERVED RESULT Dolphin is not restored. EXPECTED RESULT Dolphin instances and other (suitable to session restore) apps are restored. [plasmashell] [Bug 460415] Digital Clock 5.26: font too tiny to read
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460415 --- Comment #11 from rb --- Correction: I see that autoFontAndSize was introduced into 5.26 digitalclock and set to true by default. I previously in 5.25 had Sego ui custom font but no size was able to be selected if I recall correctly, just the font type. I guess because of that, autoFontAndSize was set to false by the system after upgrading to 5.26 in the appletsrc file . The size can now be set in the settings of the clock with a particular font implicitly selected. The decision to change this to false as detailed below and have the font size selection option not be readily visible can lead the user with very small font with no idea they can now increase the font size. "Plasma 5.26 introduced a new config entry autoFontAndSize which defaults to true. This means if the user customized font before (fontFamily, boldText, italicText), in 5.26 these settings are ignored. So we need to set autoFontAndSize=false if: 1. Any of these 3 old entries above is set. 2. No new entries introduced in 5.26 (autoFontAndSize, fontSize, fontWeight, fontStyleName) are set, so this is a config from 5.25. And fontWeight should be set to 75 (Font.Bold) if boldText==true." [kwin] [Bug 411877] Touchscreen input locked to first screen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=411877 --- Comment #24 from David Sutton --- So the first thing I had to do was find out which event was related to the touch screen - in my case event4 was the one I needed: "qdbus org.kde.KWin /org/kde/KWin/InputDevice/event4 org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties.Get org.kde.KWin.InputDevice touch" returns "true" I went ahead and used kinfocenter ( Graphics -> Wayland ) to confirm which monitor I needed to assign it to - it gives the mapping from the monitor name to the device name.
