[yakuake] [Bug 474246] New: Yakuake monitor assignment is not stable
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474246 Bug ID: 474246 Summary: Yakuake monitor assignment is not stable Classification: Applications Product: yakuake Version: 22.12.3 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: h...@kde.org Reporter: linus.kardell+kdeb...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I've got three monitors, a DisplayPort monitor in the middle, set to priority 1 in the Plasma settings, and HDMI monitors on the left and right as priority 2 and 3 (with the third one used via Prime display offload). Yakuake is set to be on the DisplayPort monitor. Sometime, when the monitors have been in powersave, the DisplayPort monitor takes longer to turn on, and kscreen reconfigures the monitors. At that point, the monitor is connected to a new output according to a new output according to xrandr (it might have been moved from DisplayPort-3 to DisplayPort-4, even though the card only has one DisplayPort output). When this happens, Yakuake is moved to a different monitor. The order of the monitors in the Yakuake settings also doesn't match up with the priority of the monitors on the Plasma settings, and which order they are in changes. For example, currently I have Yakuake set to "screen 3", to make it show up on the primary monitor. EXPECTED RESULT The order of the monitors, and assigned monitor, in the Yakuake settings should be stable, when monitors are disabled and reenabled. Ideally it should follow the plasma monitor priority, so that when yakuake is set to e.g. "screen 1", it should show up on whatever monitor set set as priority 1 in the Plasma settings, moving when the priority assignment changes. [neon] [Bug 474244] New: Bright Red backgrounds everywhere when OpenGL driver broken
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474244 Bug ID: 474244 Summary: Bright Red backgrounds everywhere when OpenGL driver broken Classification: KDE Neon Product: neon Version: unspecified Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org Reporter: mgourab...@gmail.com CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Hello everyone, I was installing a flatpak application from the Discover store, when I noticed some issue related to OpenGL, after which I stopped the installation and installed some other apps. After doing a restart I notice, I could not see plasma desktop and is with a blank screen and the mouse cursor moving, something like there was no taskbar, no home button, no desktop, etc. I asked few people for help in a chatroom and got to know about some mismatch in the software installed, something related to software version having mismatch with neon's (specifically, issue looked to be incompatible versions of libraries and applications installed Cannot mix incompatible Qt library (5.15.9) with this library (5.15.10)). So, after deliberate fixing of those mismatch issues, rectifying dependencies and doing the installation of neon-settings2 which was creating issue. Finally, I was able to update the system using pkcon update command, and I was able to see my desktop. But there was a critical issue of "Red color on screen" everywhere, even in web browsers and apps. So, I tried to investigate this issue and got to know that during the update the graphics drivers were updated to the latest intel mesa version, which was creating these issues. So, I tried to downgrade the graphics driver and its related packages so check whether the issue persists or gone. To my surprise, the red color issue was gone, and then I noticed that the OS has changed the graphics accelerator to LLMpipe instead of OpenGL, which was confusing to me. At this time I got to know about a BUG (bug #460404) in KDE plasma, which said to change the option to OpenGL in the plasma renderer settings (SceneGraphBackend), and when I did that, still the OpenGL is not working and the software rendering of LLMpipe shows. I tried to check the booting process, and it showed software renderer (LLMpipe) instead of intel drivers. I have manually used the plasma renderer setting (SceneGraphBackend) to software mode rather than OpenGL mode, because if I update the system and new drivers get updated, then that could create a crash or something which I suffered earlier. Please kindly provide a fix to this graphics drivers issue, for which I would be indebted to you. Thanks & Regards, Gourab STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Had overriding issue + unmet dependencies, fixed those first 2. Did system update using Pkcon update, was successful, but after restart had drivers issue with Red color everywhere 3. Downgraded the graphics driver, and its related packages to make the graphics work, but rendering happened for software (LLMpipe) mode only, even after manually changing the plasma renderer settings (SceneGraphBackend) to OpenGL, still it remained as (LLMpipe) mode. 4. Till now, I have kept the plasma renderer settings mode to software (LLMpipe) mode, so that whenever I update the system and graphics drivers are updated, it won't break my system again. 5. Please provide compatible graphics drivers for my system. OBSERVED RESULT 1. Red Color everywhere on the screen 2. System responsive with software rendering (forceful) 3. workable for now, but drivers update may crash the system again EXPECTED RESULT 1. Intel drivers should have been showing during boot logs 2. Graphics hardware acceleration must have been worked using OpenGL settings, even after drivers update 3. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474083 --- Comment #4 from Yannick --- Hi Nate, I'd looked for it the other day, but I don't how to do it and where at. I'd found a kde.org webpage where it says where to go whether we need to declare a bug or want to contribute to an existing project or submit a merge request, etc. My understanding is that we need to have an account, fins the project then fork the project, and have a git repository, ...All that complexity just to change one file !?So I chose to upload that single file within the bug page to let someone like you or the author to check if the fix is okay and then merge it. I also wonder why the -1 was there and its purpose. Maybe it was useful at sometime as a workaround to a panel bug that might have been fixed in the meantime, and now that -1 is useless and causes a graphical bug in some cases. [kwin] [Bug 461142] Maximized windows use a different monitor to determine their bottom edge
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461142 Andrew Shark changed: What|Removed |Added CC||ash...@linuxcomp.ru --- Comment #4 from Andrew Shark --- Created attachment 161455 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=161455&action=edit Video showing the screen gap when maximizing window I can reproduce this. Unable to maximize window by hitting top edge if some of the monitors has panel higher than current screen panel. Steps to reproduce: 1. Set all panels to the bottom of the screen. 2. Align all monitors by top edge. 3. Make the scale of central monitor such that the position of side monitors' panels is higher than the central monitor's panel. 4. Maximize some window by double click on its header (or by dragging on the top edge). In this example I use Qt Creator, because it has very well visible bottom labels. 5. Observe result. Observed: The window is not fully maximized. It has gap between its bottom and a panels top. You can stretch it manually with Meta + rmb drag. But when you try to restore it, the window will again become "brokenly maximized". And if "restore" again from that broken state, it gets some weird size. Basically you cannot use the "normally maximized" and "normally restored" switch at the same time. Expected: The window should be fully maximized. Additional info: If rearrange monitors so that they are aligned by bottom (there is however another bug, not allowing you to do so because of snapping, but the main thing is to keep their panels lower then central monitor panel), then the window can be fully maximized normally. See the video demonstration. [Powerdevil] [Bug 474221] Keyboard backlight issue
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474221 Nate Graham changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEEDSINFO |RESOLVED Resolution|WAITINGFORINFO |UPSTREAM --- Comment #3 from Nate Graham --- Thanks. It looks like your keyboard exposes brightness data only for a few specific keys, and not for all the keys in general. As such, our config UI doesn't have the tools it needs to support the keyboard's brightness stuff properly. This is an issue with how the keyboard represents its brightness features to the Linux kernel, so I would recommend submitting a bug report about it at https://bugzilla.kernel.org. Thanks again! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
