Note if you open a new window from within Konsole itself, it will respect the
layout. Could you open a separate issue about that?

Also, could you make sure Konsole layout persists between sessions if you don't
close it's window? That would mean the issue you opened here is not relevant
for Wayland.

Considering the recent backtrace, XKB thinks there are 4 layouts, but you have
only 2 in kxkbrc configured:
#5  KWin::KeyboardLayoutDBusInterface::getLayoutsList (this=0x5626bc88c680) at
/usr/src/debug/kwin-5.22.5-1.fc34.x86_64/src/keyboard_layout.cpp:234
i = 3
...
layoutsSize = 4
displayNamesSize = 2

Try to determine source of the extra layouts:

Let's eliminate that. Make sure there is no external mapping taking place, no
XKB.. environment variables with configuration, etc.

It's lv3:ralt_alt option which problematic ("Right Alt never chooses 3rd level"

I don't see any logic in this, it looks like xkbcommon bug, I'll report

Yes, it's intentional for Wayland but still contradistinction solution, see
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412101#c29

On the other hand, on X11 we have no way to not remember last used layout,
right?
That's what I tried to avoid, maybe not so successfully..

Anyway, please don't forget to close the issue if you find that acceptable.

I tried your setup on Wayland and got somewhat different result:
switching stuck on Thai using Win+Space main shortcut,
but works OK with Capslock as I have it as my main shortcut also.

Anyway, this is probably upstream issue with XKB configuration files of
particular layout.
Similar was already reported: see bug 432436.
I suggest to report upstream, as it was done here:

For X11, last used layout is always restored now as we removed corresponding
setting to unify with Wayland behavior.
For Wayland, that depends on whether "Restore previous session" setting is set.
If it's not set, layout priority is honored.

Note that functionality was not ported to X11, and it's unclear if it ever be.

I'll close the issue as "intended", please revert if you prefer to keep it
open.
Just note X11 won't be in focus of development any more.

Git commit d87273d8114c4abc72b518ebd300fd67b33a3625 by Andrey Butirsky, on
behalf of David Edmundson.
Committed on 22/10/2021 at 09:51.
Pushed by butirsky into branch 'Plasma/5.23'.

Fix focus loss on decoration destruction

InputDeviceHandler keeps track of which client has focus, and whether
the decoration or main window has focus.

Should the decoration get destroyed whilst the decoration has focus we
don't update correctly. This can happen when
"BorderlessMaximizedWindows" is set, or if you use key presses whilst
above the decoration.

cleanupDecoration (which is an odd name) is called whenever a decoration
gains or loses focus. Here we can connect for the decoration destruction
and force a focus change.

We removed the capping in master. Do you want to test it in VM on Neon unstable
maybe and say it works OK for you?

Is it reproducible on Neon?
Do others Options work?
Can we have ~/.config/kxkbrc dump again?

Could someone try on others DEs Wayland sessions to isolate upstream
libxkbcommon bugs?

Hmm, that was fixed above, presumably older Plasma ran somehow and reintroduced
the bug in config..
Does it recover if you delete this line?

Oh, really? Did you try to ask EndeavorOS folks maybe? It seems distro-specific
(but I'm not sure).

What if you turn off NumLock on start in Keyboard > Hardware > NumLock on KDE
Startup?
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?t=133089

Please also check if that actually sets the NumLock option to 0 .

[frameworks-kwallet] [Bug 353960] automatic new wallet wizard stops with "no suitable key" without hint

I have been getting the dreaded error: "Encryption error while attempting to
save the wallet kdewallet. Error code is 53 (Unusable public key). Please fix
your system configuration, then try again. This error may occur if you are not
using a full trust GPG key. Please ensure you have the secret key for the key
you are using."

I went through different bug reports and this is the list of things what might
go wrong with GPG and are worth checking:

1. You don't have GPG certificate, then generate one using:
```bash
gpg --full-generate-key
```
2. Certificate does not have `ultimate` trust.
* To set it graphically follow:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1876589#p1876589
* To set it through interactive CLI follow this:
https://security.stackexchange.com/a/129477

3. Certificate has expired (this was my case, it sort of worked, but I couldn't
update any passwords and was constantly getting an error).
To fix this issue, either generate a new certificate or change expiry date
(don't worry, the key itself will still be the same):

```bash
# Find the key which needs to be updated.
# IMPORTANT: Keys can have sub keys, check all expiration dates!
gpg --list-secret-keys --keyid-format=long --verbose
# Enter interactive mode
KEY=
gpg --edit-key ${KEY}
# In interactive mode
list
# This will choose the second key (0-based index)
key 1
# Change expiration date
expire
# Choose validity length, for example, 3 years from now on:
3y
# IMPORTANT! Confirm to save changes
save
```

I have a theory then.
Earlier, you could "reset" non-working layout with any change in KCM Keyboard,
because that change was reset NumLock status also.
Now we've got a feature that any Lock status preserves on that reconfiguration.
So if initial NumLock state don't work for whatever reason, you can't reset it
any more.

Is it realistic enough to be a truth?

Can you try that on Gnome/etc.? Might be something with the layout itself.

Also, could anyone confirm that NumLock status inversion we talked above?
It might be NumLock set in UEFI, and it interfere somehow..

Not necessary. I don't see the reason why it's inverted, and that may be exact
the same problem why you got the issue from the beginning..

Conrad, it would be better if you file the inverted NumLock status issue
yourself - you tested it and I don't know the details.

With that, closing this one.
