[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1550905] [NEW] [MacBookAir7, 1] Backlight control broken. Won't turn on after suspend.

2016-02-28 Thread Luke picciau
Public bug reported:

The backlight on the MacBookAir7,1 can't be controlled, changing the
brightness setting has no effect on the actual screen brightness. If you
close the lid and the screen turns off it won't turn back on again, the
keyboard lights turn on and you can see the lcd is on if you hold it to
the light but the backlight won't turn back on.

Tested on Ubuntu 16.04 but it also affects 15.10

2016-03-10 Thread Luke picciau
Interestingly if the back light turns off due to inactivity and not from
shutting the laptop the back light can be woken again like normal.

2016-04-07 Thread Luke picciau
I'm not really sure how to collect the info for the suspend but I
managed to fix the problem by installing this driver
(https://github.com/patjak/mba6x_bl) with the instructions on the readme

2017-05-29 Thread Luke picciau
Don't think this needs a log file. I have confirmed this on more than
one computer so there shouldn't be any issues reproducing it from the
instructions above.

I'll just add in that the version of ubuntu-gnome-desktop I have as
listed by dpkg is 0.58.3.
