[lace] Lacemakers' hands
Hi fellow Arachnids, Could the lady who wanted pictures of lacemakersâ hands please resend her email to me as I have at last done a photo but cannot find the original email. Typical, this Microsoft email program (Windows 10) wipes out your emails if you forget to move them to another folder. :-( Happy lace making, Joepie, in sunny Sussex (UK) where it really feels like summer today. - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. RE: [lace] Lacemakers' Hands
To Cindy and all Yes, I too am more of a lurker, but love all your messages. We had our first proper Spring day this week, so I am out and about in the garden and greenhouse: potting, seeding, clearing weeds etc. whilst husband is decorating from top to bottom. Why cannot he do one room at the time? 4 months old puppy Border Collie Tilly is "helping" both of us. Not much time for lace, though tonight I will: Th eve is my lace fix, and two friends come to my house and we chat and make lace. Still working on Christine Springett's Wisteria pattern, but have just turned the last corner. Also have a Torchon pattern for a whirly thingy on another pillow which I take to local group when we meet once a month. At a recent lace fair I bought a set of her latest Christmas ornament patterns, really beautiful ones, so must have a go at some of those. Have a great day. So I wrote her a poem to go with the display: Hands above the bobbins Hands with bobbins held Move with speed to place a pin Move slow to tension thread Old hands, young hands Hands both dark and fair Hands young and plump with gift of youth Hands lined with time and care. Some with rings or bracelets hung And nails of polish bright Others show the scars of time In the lamp's exposing light But underneath's the product fine With twisted thread in place A joy to work, a joy to see The delight of making lace. [lace] Lacemakers hands
In my collection of lacemaker paintings is one painting of only hands. This painting by Lynn Hughes struck me as absolutely beautiful. It's on http://lace.lacefairy.com/LaceArt/LaceArtwork/ALBUM.HTM About 3/4 way down the thumbnails on the right.
