[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80346] New: Preferred default fonts for Asian and CTL documents should be Libre fonts

2014-06-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80346

  Priority: highest
Bug ID: 80346
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Preferred default fonts for Asian and CTL documents
should be Libre fonts
  Severity: minor
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: philip...@hotmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.3.0.1 rc
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

LibreOffice ships free fonts with it and by default uses them for the creation
of new western documents rather than proprietary ones since 4.2, but
unfortunately this doesnt happen for asian and ctl documents.

Liberation Serif and Liberation Sans are the default fonts used in Tools >
Options > LibreOffice Writer > Basic Fonts (Western) even if Times New Roman
and Arial are present. But with Basic Fonts (Asian), it defaults to proprietary
Simsun and Microsoft YaHei if available rather than Droid Sans and with Basic
Fonts (CTL), it defaults to proprietary Tahoma if available rather than DejaVu
Sans.

In order to access the Basic Fonts (Asian) and Basic Fonts (CTL) options, you
will have to enable the ability to create such documents in Tools > Options >
Language Settings > Languages under 'Default languages for documents'.

Here's my testing on my desktop pc using the writer table right-click example.

System - Linux Mint 32-bit, Dual Core Intel Pentium 4 @ 3.20GHz, 4GB RAM.

- LibO 4.1 -

English : 1.0s
Arabic : 1.1s
Chinese (simplified) : 2.5s

- LibO 4.3 beta 2 -

English : 1.0s
Arabic : 1.2s
Chinese (simplified) : 3.5s

I'm assume the chinese characters take longer to render because of their
complexity and i think the new dialog UI might also be a factor in the
slowness.

I tried this with 4.3.0.1 aka RC1 (x86-64 version) and I failed to experience
the crash--it sorts "successfully", but following your instructions it does not
produce a nicely sorted spreadsheet (semantic error): not only does it not sort
the whole column (only goes through neighboring nonempty records), the data
from each record gets mixed up after the sort, because it never asked if I
wanted to extend the selection--to get it to do that, I highlight column A, go
to Data -> Sort, ask it to extend the selection, click "OK"…

and NOW it crashes! (It may not be for the same reason/bug, so I will attach
the crash report.)

However, for a much smaller spreadsheet (I will attach the example), it does
sort successfully using the same procedure.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80345] New: HTML Document: Insert Table always insert a table with no right and left border

2014-06-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80345

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 80345
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: HTML Document: Insert Table always insert a table with
no right and left border
  Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: suokunl...@gmail.com
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.5.2 rc
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

This bug is a "clone" of bug 80292. In that bug I found that when create a HTML
document in libreoffice and insert a table, it's always a "one-column" table.
But after further investigation, I find it's not "one-column", it's many
columns as expected but without left and right borders so it looks like
one-column.

Steps:
1. Start LibreOffice;
2. File - New - HTML Document;
3. Table - Insert - Table: 8 rows 8 columns

Current Result:

A table with 8 rows and 8 columns was inserted, but there is no left and right
borders for the cells.
When save the file and view HTML source, I see the following for each tag:

So maybe the "border-right: none" caused the problem.
When you insert a table, it should never by default to set top-bottom borders
to 1px but left-right borders to none.

Reproduce with:
4.2.5.2, 4.3.0.1
Ubuntu 14.04 x86

I tested out what you had just described and i couldnt reproduce this in
Windows 7 with LibreOffice 4.1.6 or 4.2.4. Please note that the window
positioning is not handled by LibreOffice but by the operating system's window

2014-06-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46635

--- Comment #52 from Robert Gonzalez MX ---
I have tested this with 4.3 RC1 on Win 8, and it is not present.
I created a new writer file, then write some text, configure autosave to 1
minute and open the backup folder to observe the behaviour, and this is the
secuence:

File test for autosave
starting al 7:02 pm

saved at 7:03 ok untitled_0odt
saved at 7:49 ok untitled_1odt
saved at 7:57 untitled_0odt
saved at 7:58 untitled_1odt
saved at 8:00 untitled_0odt
saved at 8:01 untitled_1odt
saved at 8:02 untitled_0odt
saved at 8:03 untitled_1odt
saved at 8:04 untitled_0odt

change interval to 4 minutes
starting at 8:06
saved at 8:10 untitled_0odt

It seems that it only saves in two files, not creating a secuence, that's
alright.

There was not change int the interval of saving. If no change to the file, no
autosaving is performed. So no endless loop.

It is a known problem. I'm going to remove the additional dialog and will
always show the data sequences for the property mapping. That will fix it.
However you can already get the same effect right now by having an empty range

Please put me into CC of the property mapping bugs. I'm still working on the
feature so they might help me shape the feature before the final release.

For this specific issue I think there is no perfect solution. With the latest
changes just pushed to master the series color is now used again when no value
is specified in the data range for the mapping. So maybe it still makes sense
to include the series color in the legend.

I'm not trying to zoom or change the page. I'm trying to resize the window of
the calc programme. When I resize the window, close the program, and then
reopen calc, the window remains the size it was previously before being
changed.

Jay,

If I am reading the comments correctly, the crash has been fixed by at
least 4.2.5.2; but the bug status is back to NEW. Did you intend
this?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 79406] Slow rendering and random parts of spreadsheets shows when scrolling

2014-06-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79406

Well i did a screencast so people can see how it is for me. You will see in the
4.3 test that scrolling isnt smooth, lots of cells are not being redrawn fast
enough when scrolling up and down, resulting in cell content appearing to be
still in its previous locations.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6qJrVIa0SAlOVBaRDNaQUFOV2M/edit?usp=sharing

This reminds me of the slow performance mentioned in bug 78254, which i tested,
and that one also mentions the deterioration in 4.2 and above when compared to
4.1.

Initial bug is still there, in 4.2.4.2 and in 4.2.5.2.
Tested on Linux Ubuntu i386 32 bits.

I added some comments on the spreadsheet in order to make the test case easy to
understand. It is an extremely simple example.

I downloaded the latest release of LO yesterday and have installed it on my

When do you get this error message? You have downloaded the file to your PC
and then opened it with a double click? Do you get the Windows Security
Warning message to open a file or do you receive this error message already
before? On my PC it takes several seconds until I get this message.

Joe, thank You for reporting this bug. I confirm, that this bug is fully
reproducible with your steps provided.

Sophie, this bug must be marked also as high blocker, as for me - our company
can not use any version newer than 4.0.6 despite many "tasty" enhancements
made.
TOO many regressions, current 4.2.5 is not ready for enterprise deployments.
This bug is the second blocker, after bug 70232 and bug 59428.

To be more acturate, its not only black text, but also the black man figure in

the original PPT file

Problem description:
When a pptx is saved and is later opened the format of a embedded table
changed. The background color is wrong and the text height is wrong.
Steps to reproduce:
1. open testcase.pptx
2. select the empty cells in the embedded table
3. change text height to 8pt
4. save as .pptx
5. open file again

Current behavior:
6. => the format of the table changed to blue background

Expected behavior:
- the format should not change after save and re-open again
- when openeing the first time the text hight in the first row is wrong, too.

Confirmed on Linux as well. I attempted to reproduce the issue with a blank
document but wasnt able to, but if i copied the gradiented square to the blank

square is causing the freeze, and it wasnt apparent to me when i was testing
various square properties.

Removing the MAB and bibisect request, reason:

We have a single test case, it is fixed in 4.3 - if this is a more widespread
problem that you can provide reproducible steps that many users will see the
freeze please add those steps. Else this bug should be in WFM status.

As for MAB - MAB should not contain bugs that are already resolved in later
releases. If this is a widespread problem beyond this single document/graphic
then we just need to find the commit and poke the developer

Hi

(In reply to comment #5)

> I have provided the required information in JUNE 2013!!! but never received
> any further feedback.

Sorry for the delay, I just found this Issue (bug hunting this weekend).

At first reading I was not far from sharing your point of view but I am now
quite sure that this request is not valid.

The argument must be typed as it is in the spreadsheet.

For example, in French (even with the option of using function names in
English), you must enter VRAI/FAUX in a cell so that it is recognized.

And so, you use the same syntax in a formula.

A specious argument would also be the title of the option is clear: it is just
about function names, not arguments... :)

I set status to NEEDINFO. What do you think?

Regards
Pierre-Yves

Export of the map as it wrong appears.

I used the same tricks to cut file size. This is an export of the drawing as it
wrongly appears.

Note that the background map, an old public-domain map which I was using to
draw the foreground map, has slid off to the left and may have changed scales.

Export of the drawing as it should appear

Unfortunately, Bugzilla can't handle large files.

I managed to cut the file size by exporting to pdf and exporting again to png
with low resolution. This is an export of the drawing as it should appear. I
transferred this back from the computer where it showed up wrong to the
computer where it showed up all right and, sure enough, it showed up all right
again.

Also this is in no sense resolved.

Is it a question?

I think that my bug is same as bug 76195.
Probably I disabled showing of boundaries and forgot about it. Later I
understood that I don't see borders of tables. Now I enabled boundaries and see
borders. My problem's solved.

The MS Fix It latest version fixed the problem eventually. 4.2.1 was not listed
as installed, but uninstall of 4.2.1 had failed. Same with the Help Pack - had
to re-run Fix It.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80335] EDITING crash when copying in HTML from Calc

2014-06-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80335

Created attachment 101491
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=101491&action=edit
gdb on the core file

A few attempts with a debug build of master commit dc795cb (2014-06-20
1642 UTC) did not crash, but I have succeeded in making the crash with
4.2.4.2 on 64-bit Linux. Specifically:

(*) The crashing LibreOffice is a "parallel" installation on
debian-wheezy 64-bit.

(*) I opened the attachment from the list of recently-used files.

(*) At the prompt, I chose to Enable Macros.

(*) My mail program is Evolution. I had window open for a new message
in html format, and that is where I did the crashing paste
operation.

(*) The crash is a segmentation fault in
ScTable::GetName(rtl::OUString&) const ().

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 79977] GALLERY: image paths should be simplified

 CC||jmadero@gmail.com

Regarding the second image path, jmadero suggested that '/.../' be added to the
simplified path, so that the path could be fit in the provided area and a
tooltip be added to show the full path, similar to what can be found in most
file managers when you open up a file's properties dialog.

a command like `$ readlink --canonicalize /home/jay/Desktop/../Desktop/` could
be used to simplify the path to '/home/jay/Desktop/'.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80054] Enhancement request: Add option to allow user to select color of non-printing characters

2014-06-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80054

Actually it isn't a niche wish at all.

The ultimate solution for this problem isn't to provide a way to change the
color, but recalculate the color of non printing characters according to the
color we have in background (=the color page or in the case of a user is
writing in a table,...).

This should still be provided as an easy hack IMHO.
